Why can't I access the release notes?

MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
you just beat me to that ...
... but anyway the new 11.4 preview is performing as its predecessor to me on new titles & all the stuttering & strange behavior the old one caused on some games was fixed in this one (e.g. PES2011 strange stuttering) ... that baby is a keeper ...
-
Yay, was wondering what was taking 11.3 so long. Thank you.

I keep installing them but it's telling me that I already have the latest. CCC is telling me I'm still on 10.2. -
-
Question! Is the 11.4 preview you linked any different from the 11.4 preview that was released before?
-
Do a clean install and use Driver Sweeper to remove all remnants.
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
If you mean the 7th of march one ... yes it is different ... but if you mean the 23rd leaked one ... they are the same but this one aint modded it originally supports the mobility chips -
I always seem to have issues with asder's modded drivers. So an official supported driver is always my preferred choice so to me, yes this release is different than the previous. It won't be different if you have a desktop, but it is for us mobile.
-
If I am not sure if 11.4 will be stable for my system (ATI Mobility 5870), is 11.3 better than 11.2? Or should I just go straight to 11.4 preview? What's the difference btw preview and regular version?
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
11.3 brings zero performance improvements gaming wise Vs 11.2 ... if you have one of the problems that was solved in 11.3 go for it, if not go straight for the 11.4s they are some neat piece of work
-
The 11.4 Preview are the first of what AMD has code named Mjolnir project. The Mjolnir II has already been announced and should be a further improvement over the 11.4, release date not announed though.
-
11.4 is mainly for improving the 6000 series. I'm not sure 5000 series users should expect much.
-
and 4000 series shoudl stop dreaming ... wait you'r still using that old (*&?
-
There's still plenty of life left in the old *&&*
-
ya i know lol that's why i haven't upgraded yet
i play no games that use dx11 and there is yet to be one of the game that i play that i can't put on extreme -
Soo there's literally no performance increase with 11.3? -.-
Still trying to install. -
I suppose I'll just install 11.4...
-
I don't know much of 6xxx series improvements but my 5850 never worked faster and more stable than with these 11.4. It is faster, more stable (not a single bsod or any other "GPU recovered" issue), it fixed stupid bug with USB DVBT live TV in Media center (restarting GPU), all settings in CCC are correctly remembered and applied every restart and shutdown, tesselation settings work as should (ie. you can set it to 2x and leave it there and it works in games), I don't have little microstutter in TF2 anymore (11.2 has this issue, not sure about 11.3), the card seems more stable overclocked from 625/800 to 730/1050 (no occassional artifacts) etc...
I have a looooooong history with ati and nvidia drivers in laptops (uh it must be 10 years now) and 11.4 preview is one that I will surely remember as a bright spot in otherwise quite mediocre driver engineering both by ATI and Nvidia (there is also 10.5 btw
). I mean once you see what a really good driver can do with the same hardware on the same machine, you start to wonder why they make us all using our graphic cards effectively crippled by bad drivers - for years! Like you buy a ferrari and then you are stuck in the second gear but somehow know it must go faster. I hope they have changed their driver development crew and some more skillful people came onboard since this 11.4 really makes a difference to my 5850 DDR3.

11.3 Downloading now. Finally new drivers
-
I think if the performance improvements are good on the HD6xxx the HD5xxx should benefit also. The two are not nearly as different as AMD may want to imply. HD6xxx is still based on the HD5xxx, with a different stream processor arrangements. Doesn't seem the actual stream processors are all that different.
Plus installing new drivers that still support the HD5xxx, not as legacy support doesn't hurt. If the drivers aren't good for your system, then uninstall them.
I never understand the threads, OMG should I install these? I don't know, why don't you try it? It takes 10 minutes. If it's good keep em, if it's not, uninstall them. The apprehension over drivers are always comically ridiculously hilarious. -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
I totally agree. Driver installations doesn't take that long at all and I can personally test the performance of the new drivers in a jiffy to already know if it is a good driver set or an abysmal one. -
I can't install them. I ran driver sweeper and uninstalled through AMD CIM, but when, after rebooting, I go to install the drivers, it doesn't appear the option to install the display driver nor CCC2. What's happening? All traces of drivers are gone... I simply don't have the option to install the CCC and the display driver ( through custom install ).
Help please!
PS : I downloaded the 11.4 preview drivers from the OP. Perhaps it's desktop only? I really want to install these drivers... ._. -

This is how I would uninstall and install. Uninstall express from the Programs and Features. If you want to use Driver Sweeper, run that in Safe Mode. Run CCleaner registry cleaner. Go to Device Managers and uninstall the VGA Drivers. And then just install your drivers normally. Can try installing the drivers through the Device Manager also. -
Will try that way. I will run CCleaner only.
BRB in 45-50 minutes with results. -
Nope, no luck. Look at the attachment to see the options I have. After following your steps. I don't have the option to install CCC or the display drivers...

You tried a manual install?
-
You mean a custom install? If so, yes.
-
Try this.
Install some old drivers. Then just install 11.4 over the old driver. I had problems with 11.2 after the SP1 and that is how I did it. From that moment on I just update new driver over old ones and have no problems.
If it doesn't help - try manual - force the driver installation through the device manager.
BTW - this 11.4 preview is stable even at 740/1080 which gives me P7312 3DMarks in Vantage on my 5850 with GDDR3. Nice boost from 5800 mark on default 625/800
-
How do I do it?
I will try to install 11.3, and then 11.4 on the top. -
I couldn't install 11.3, had to do 11.4 =\ try that Phistachio.
-
Installed the 11.3 drivers, tried installing 11.4, still no option to install CCC and the display driver.
Oh well, will need to wait for WHQL
-
Unfortunately, in the same boat as Pistachio here...installed 11.2 and saying display driver already up to date (lol)
-
Sorry for the delay. If it doesn't work - go to Device manager. Then Display adapters. Right click and choose Properties on your graphics card. Driver tab, Update driver button. Now choose "Browse my computer...." and then choose the folder where your 11.4 preview has decompressed and check the "include subfolders..." (in my case I downloaded the driver from Guru3d forums from asder in 7z archive and just decompressed it into one folder on my disk).
This way you'll force the driver to install and will see if it works or not. I would recommend to make a restore point beforehand. -
It would be nice if these updates effected the 5000 series more. 5000 series hasn't even been selling for that long (maybe a year or so?) and already drivers are being targeted to the 6000 series. With more and more applications making use of the GPU it is more and more important to have support for it.
-
Yes, but still for example tesselation works on 5xxx series with new(er) drivers so they are adding new stuff for 5000 series. I hope 5xxx series will still gain a lot from these new drivers.
-
Mmmm... I think I have managed to install the driver. Though windows says it's from 26/02. BUT, CCC says it's the driver 11.4 and the display driver is this one : 8.84.3-110226a-114256E-ATI. Can you confirm that this is the preview driver, the one on AMD website?
UPDATE : Odd, "System information" tells me that my driver version is 8.14.1.6203... What's the true driver? Can you confirm that the 8.84 is the preview 11.4 please? -
I've tried that, says already up to date... bloody hell, getting a bit annoyed!
Edit...
in windows, what version of driver does it says you are using given a succesful update?
edit 2..
I've got 11.2 installed and dxdiag says mine is 8.821.0.0 -
Can anyone, with the first, march 10th preview drivers, say what's their driver version? Mine is the 8.84.3, and I want to check if that is indeed the NEW preview drivers.

Cheers star!
Apparently, I don't have the new 11.4 preview from AMD, rather the 9th march ones
Any ideas on how to install them? Manual install didn't work...
ME WANT PERFORMANCE BOOSTING AMD DRIVERS
-
Mmm... One of the reasons of me not being able to install is because it IS already the new update? ATi CIM says they are already updated...
ikovac, can you post GPU-z of your GPU telling the driver version please? -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
You could just uninstall the current drivers and reinstall from scratch. I used the Guru3D version of the Preview Drivers and I think they are just as effective as the ones ATI released. I would stick to these until 11.4 gets officially released from ATI.
-
Already did... Driver sweeper, CCleaner and no luck...
I guess I will wait for WHQL...
-
Ok here it is.Attached Files:

Cheers!
Then I couldn't install because I ALREADY had the latest drivers lol! -
This is the March 29th version. ikovac's not sure which one that is. Mine is the latest, confirmed by catalystcreator.
-
Oh... I think I will exchange my laptop anyway... I have 260, so adding them to the laptop's price (1150), I get with 1410, enough money to buy a G51
Or another with at least the 5850's level. DX11 and AMD though. Perhaps I will wait for the 6xxx series... -
Mine is also 8.840.20
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Well most of the 6xxx OEM's are weaker than the 5870M's. The 6970M's are only being used in $$$ Alienwares and Clevos. You might want to consider the G73JH when you get the chance (and if any are still in stock). Also, the G51's only got the GTX 260M as their top card, which is a heat magnet...
Also, I am going to try dabbling with the drivers later as I am waiting for my replacement Elitebook 8740w to arrive and then I might wipe my current HDD to fresh out a new copy of the OS for the new unit. I really don't have any problems with 8.840.3 right now.
