    why are we stepping back from 174.31? Would this not be a downgrade? Why would older drivers be recommended?

    They are not older... they are different series.. the 174.xx are for the 9000 series that yet is to be released, 169.xx is for 6-7-8000 series.

    Its just people swimming in beta drivers with different numbers. but those different numbers does NOT equal release date. It's very different branches of driver development.

    So are you saying that these drivers don't work with laptop GPUs? So what do the custom .inf files there do - make it so that desktop drivers can be used by...desktops? Call me crazy, but surely the custom .infs on laptopvideo2go are there so you can use any desktop driver on a laptop....

    I try again.. NO they are not older.. they are dated 4th of feb. 2008 which makes them some of the newest driver released.

    again.. 174.xx dont makes them newer than 169.xx just by the number.. It's still a different driver branch of development. 169.xx is for geforce 6-7-8 series desktop cards officially.

    174.xx is for the upcomming 9000series i think.

    and 167.xx (which mostly sucks) is officially for laptops.

    Anyway, still no modded inf?

    I don`t know why you say that, the 174.16 drivers are the best I`ve tried so far! both in 3dmark and games, and I have a 7th series card...

    i tried a lot of drivers:

    169.xx is not recommended for laptop because of heat issue !!( 169.28 can toast your gpu if you use 7950 sli)

    174.XX are very stable, no issue, no overheating! Performance are quite good. Recomended for both xp and vista user

    167.XX = laptop. i tried 167.51 wich is not stable at all!

    FInal advice = use 171.XX or 174.XX (.16 or .31)

    Well. the 169. series have worked best for me, for my particular laptop/GPU. The 174. series have all given me black screens and re-start. You have to find what works best for you for your laptop and the game you are playing.

    Some people get different results even if they do have the same gpu card. System hardware/software variables are also in play which can give different results

    I recommend using driversweeper to completely clean out all traces of the old drivers before changing to new drivers.

    Personally i found 169.09 stable but ive moved to updated 174.16 which gave me better performance, stability is good so far.

    Ok, I`ll instal these since people give these drivers so much credit, run 3dmark and compare the results in crysis.
    Results back in 30 mins or so.

    Dude. DO LIKE THIS to modify the inf according to YOUR GPU:
    For Example:

    Look for the Closest string to my hardware.
    NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0295.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT"

    Renamed this string " " to fit my hardware name..
    NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0295.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX"

    Then I Searched for the Install Pointer ID for example mine is "NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0295.1" Search up if you are blinking at the bottom of the document.

    This locates this line in the .inf
    %NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0295.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0295

    I got the PCI\VEN ID from Device Manager -> Display Adaptor -> Nvidia GeForce ????? -> Details Tab -> From the Property: Drop BOX select Hardware Ids.

    Original INF has "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0295" for the string I'm taking over NVIDIA_G71.DEV_0295.1

    I changed the original id
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0295

    to

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0297

    Then I click setup.exe and it works like a charm..

    I searched the forum , and this sollution is provided on the "169.25 driver released" thread, page 4, first post.
    I always instal like this :D

    Now, apparently I gained 26 more points lol. At 5599 right now :D

    Hi.

    too complicated for me.

    I need to add an 7000m / their are no mobile cards in this info.

    "NVIDIA_C67.DEV_0533.1 = "NVIDIA GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M" from 174.31_vista

    thanks

    Notice : any 7950GTX user can use this inf since i`ve modified it specifically for my hardware also(7950GTX that is)

    Eleron 911 comes from aileron which is an aerodynamic part which helps control the trajectory and stability of planes and cars. 911 comes from 911 Turbo, my favourite Porsche car.

    Alright Beatsiz, what`s your hardware Id? maybe I can figure it out for ya...

    Put the inf where you extract the 169.44 driver and overwrite.

    I did not say I can guarantee it`ll work though.
    Always worked in my case, but it`s easy for me since the 7950GT=7950GTX, actually it`s even better(higher clocks) in the laptop version.

    Dude, when you download the driver, first it extracts them into a folder. Into that folder place the .inf file. The use the "have disk" method and that`s it!

    omg I am not kidding I know how to place it over an extracted folder...

    THERE IS NO EXTRACTION NEEDED... its an installer once I click it automactically runs, its not compressed...

    Modded inf download from LV2GO works again, instead of begging others to bring you working drivers on the silver platter how about going to the community webpage again and downloading the correct drivers?
