1)download the zipped driver > extract it somewhere
2)download the modded .inf > put this where you extracted the drivers in step 1 > Click Yes, overwrite the old .inf
3)run setup.exe

Obviously Beatsiz has already read it as he repeatedly claims, but it's strange that others can download the drivers and install them without any problems whereas the Crysis nut has problems spelling out what his problem actually is. -
ok I am currently doing so...
Im just stating that I downloaded from the link given on this forum... so I did search and follow directions... anyways... thanks -
Umm does anyone have any benchmarks(gaming ones)?
-
I FOLLOWED ALL directions
And as I said, I used the link to the drivers IN THIS POST and it didnt give me the zip file, so it was not my fault.
I got them installed and I am currently loading crysis.
Does anybody play games in a window? So if an email, im, or whatever comes up you just hit esc for the menu and you move your mouse over to wherever you need it? Because in fullscreen its hard to get out...
I do this 2 out of 3 times I play... -
Nothing is ever Beatsiz's fault, including following links given by other users which were not necessarily required in the first place.
If you play in windowed mode just pause the game somehow and click on your desktop to change the OS focus away from the game. Then read your email or do whatever you have to before clicking on the window and resuming play. -
Ok...
Anyways... I got the drivers installed, easy, after I got the zip ones...
Performance is minimal.... maybe 2-3 fps imho. Crysis ran a bit smoother... but the physics were messed up like nothing else... Trees free floating after being choped, panels of houses taking 10 seconds to land, jittery movement in physics... idk if its because my proc. is slow or the drivers are doing this... -
One thing I found out , and it`s definitely because of the 169.44 drivers, because I had Crysis and 1.2 patch before also, and seems that sometimes, the rear end of the jeep`s or hummer`s or whateve cars those are, have no wheels
LOL. This driver`s weird.I`ll post a screenshot later. -
Seriously... RECOMMENDED for Crysis with Patch 1.2?
Uhm... its got better fps sometimes... but the physics and spawning of items is a bit off -
Just an update, Riva Tuner v2.08 is out with added support for this driver (169.44).
-
Well, it won`t let me OC with it ,so much for the support
-
-
These drivers seem to run quite good in games, but they are horrible in 3d software like Maya and 3ds Max... så back to 171.16 for me.
-
yo, people! what's the word on these? as compared to 176.16.
p.s. thanks for the earlier recommendation, eleron, i found these to be rather good performers! -
I've been trying out so many lately: 169.25, 169.32, 169.44, 174.16, another 174...etc.
I find the 174 drivers to be horrendously buggy and error ridden, but that may just be on my MBP 8600m GT.
Currently the 169.25 drivers *which happen to be Nvidia's major release for the desktop 8600 GT* are the most stable and have decent performance output and decent temps.
Seriously, I have taken an oath to just stop upgrading the driver unless the desktop version of the card on Nvidia's website is assigned a new driver. -
I also checked the checkbox to run it via registry startup.
I can`t remember what driver allowed me to OC , except the stock one.
WEIRD... -
I don`t get it then.
How do you do it? does riva tuner detect your gpu clocks from the start? mine is a blank...Attached Files:

OK NOW I AM PISSED. Everyone said the 169.44 drivers OC perfectly, but mine just won`t work.Damnit!
Are you kidding me? 605/840 gets you 5693?
That`s like 94 points from my NON OCed cardSo screw OCing then, my card rules by default

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah alot of people are having issues lately with overclocking. Perhaps newerr version of rivatuenr will help? 2.07 last week or so and 2.08 came out yesterday I believe. No idea why some can and some can't.
169.25 eh? I tried the 28s but then stuck to the 171.16s. Might give them a spin. -
I FIGURED IT OUT!
I was using RivaTuner set to the Default monitor in order to be able to check the temps of the GPU.
Switching to the Plug n Play Monitor now allows me to OC.
As soon as I fing a temp monitoring program besides riva tuner I`l run 3dmark
So, which other monitoring temp program is there? -
NHC does not show the gpu temp for me.Neither does CPUID HWM .
I`ll try speedfan and then 3dmarkit
EDIT : Speedfan doesn`t work either.
Screw it, I`ll run 3dmark anyway at 610/835 like you -
Test failed. In firefly test I started seing artefacts.
I`ll try 600 and 750.
Ran the test at 601/752 which means a 4.5% / 7.4% increase in clocks.
Score : 5798 = 3.5% increase from original score. I guess the CPU has a lot more to say in 3dmark.
Temps were : 59C for GPU and 67C for CPU, max reported by Riva TUner/ Cpu Id HWM.
I want to pass 6k
Be right back
610/777 => 6%/11% score 5908 =5.4% increase. I give up for now. -
Lol, I can overclock my 8600M GT into a 20% increase.
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Wow. Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts got an astonishing 8-10 FPS boost?!? Didn't change anything recently only changes were this driver and the directx update.
-
so the conclusion is that this driver is the best right now?
-
That`s what I said
-
The modded INF.s are finally out! http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17790

Looks like we have drivers coming out in a few week cycles.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
It appears so Mr. V. After testing a bunch of drivers out and then trying the 171.16s which were my fave and the popular 169.28, COH had a big boost while cod has a moderate boost. Now new 174s are out I believe.
Just when I was content.
-
i need to begin to visit this place more often. off-topic had too much of my attention lately. let us know whether the new 174's are worth it. I'll test .44's some time tonite.
-
These drivers are horrible for OC'ing. Bad Gaming Performance. Back to 174.31
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I overclocked my ddr2 even higher with these. 630/1450/535.
-
-
Crysis isn't as stable as before, random slowdowns and framerate isn't as high as before. Back to 174.31 -
169.44 released
