Hi all long time lurker first time poster Nothing to special about this.

    36Mark 06: 428
    (CPU score: 301)
    Ibuypower Battalion
    Athlon 64 x3200+
    1gig ram
    80gig 7200rpm HD
    |1280x800| WXGA
Ati Mobility 9600/9700! (w00! feel the burn!)

I'm trying to decide between the Toshiba satalite with the 7900gs and the ASUS G2 for an upgrade, What do think..? ASUS only boasts an x1600 but it's considerably cheaper.

I don't know what do you all think?

question-I have a mac book pro, 2.33 GHz, 2 gigs, ati x1600 oced to 482/482. I used two different drivers-ATI Catalyst 7.2, and Omega 3.8.330. Using the ATIs, I got 2143, however, it ran with less than the standard res. instead of 12xx by 800, it was 12xx by 7xx (don't remember exactly :( ) with the omegas, it got 2079, but with full resolution. so my question (finally) is which drivers I should use. also, I was wondering if these results are typical, or if I'm running slower than I should be.

    w/ATI drivers
    SM 2.0 670
    SM 3.0 885
    CPU 2033

but still how did you score over 200 more?

nevermind figured it out you set your card to high performance not high quality

Thats well within the tests margin of error. Plus driver differences may cause it.

Don't kid yourself, you know its real good... you overclocked to get it that high :p. And please dont say you didnt. I know what a 7900gs can handle, and thats an overclock. Congrats though, its a good score no matter how you got it.

Do you have a screen? I have a Core 2 Duo desktop at 2.6Ghz, 2Gb Ram and an X1800XT - and I can only get 4,700 on 3dmark06, even though this machine is incomparably better then your laptop...

When I had a Desktop 7900gs, much more powerful then the Go version even if overclocked, I only got 4,200....

    I got 3603 with my Inspiron 9400 T5600 (1.83), 2 GB 553Mhz, 160 GB HDD (5400), 7900 GS

Since my previous laptop was a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook with an integrated card I have to admit that I'm still fairly new at this and I'd like to ask whether this is a good score or not. I'm running Vista Home Basic btw.

The accuracy of actually testing a systems abilities by 3dmark is very much in question. Granted all benchmarks are just that, only "benchmarks" and can only simulate real world performance at best. However, 3dmark has been getting worse with each new generation, to the point that it should really be more of a burn-in test and a very rough idea of the actual performance of the system being tested.

I'm at work but I'll post a link to the 3dmark page later. My card is at a very high, but stable overclock (I believe its at 580/790, but I'll double check later). I might push it even more tonight just to see what I get :) .

    lo. i got a problem.

    i used to have Core DUo T2400 , 1GB DDr2 and 7600GO . it did ~1660p in 3dmark06 and CPU score was ~1500p.

now i upgraded it to T7400 . 3dmark06 score droper by 100 to 1560p and CPU score went to 900p. :S

every driver , patch and bios is latest version. NHC and powermizer running at max performance . everything the same as before but it just seems that one core is not running :S

tho when i open wprime or UT3demo , both cores goes to 100% ...

    anyone else has this problem?

    what i can do ?

I just finished running two 3dmark06 tests on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61p (specs below).

The first test, with 169.04 drivers on standard settings got me 3533.

The second result, with 169.04 drivers on max settings got me 3944.

Not bad for a Quadro FX570m, eh?

EDIT: Huge image is pretty obnoxious. I got 4502 on Basic settings, OC of 550/800 with max temp of 87.

Eh, I wish I could do better.

17" and 8600M GT with ample ventilation in a cold room should be pushing higher clocks than that.

    X205-S9359 o/c 5050 (3dmark06) at 1280x1024 (3dmark05 10100)
    X205-SLI1 o/c 7650 (3dmark06) at 1280x800 (3dmark05 11100)

As you can see, at lower(same) res(3dmark05) there isn't much of a difference between the 8600gt sli and the single 8700.

Used latest rivatuner and 169.04 drivers on both.

    16 Feb 08 update: Sager NP9262, 3DMark06, 10,340 3dmarks, Win XP 167.46, otherwise stock out of the crate performance with Q6600, 4gb Ram, 8800GTX, no O/C.
