If BF3 works good then ignore the 3DMark11 result. :)

It works good in my opinion. The card doesn't throttle. Maxes at 68 C. But I do get FPS drops at certain points, but I'm assuming this is due to stress from BF3's insane graphics at certain points on certain maps.. Does this sound correct? Does anyone else experience this at times?

And also, I cannot overclock. Things become unstable as soon as I overclock even a little bit.. The screen flickers and such... Even at 900/1300... Any ideas? :/ it's a Eurocom card, running on a m15x with a 120 gb corsair ssd, 16 gb ram, i7 740 qm, and a 7970m.

i think its the lack of power... Doesn't the 7970 have to be undervolted in the m15x to have it running properly?

Hmm, it's working fine for me. Apparently undervolting in the m15x does help all around. Will i lose performance if i undervolt though?

BTW, i did a second 3dmark11 test and got P5162. I think it's working correctly ha. No idea what happened on that first run.

This is more normal right? It's on stock clocks with a 740 qm.

yes, i think that is correct for the m15x so no need to change anything

From what i remember, undervolting in the m15x will get you better performance when you run stock. you are near the power limit in the m15x with the 7970m. Are you using the stock power brick that came with your laptop? I believe its 150w stock...so you are close to the limit

    I second what SlickDude80 said.

And I would also like to add the following:
Undervolting the gpu will NOT reduce performance. It will merely force the graphics card to work on stock settings (no loss in performance) while drawing less power overall, which in turn will lower your temperatures.

Comparable to overclocking on the stock voltage would be maintaining current clocks while undervolting, correct?

Overclocking is matching the frequency to the stability point at that voltage. Undervolting is moving back down the voltage/frequency graph until your frequency is the max stabke at a certain voltage. In either case this will shift over time.

@Omen123: It displays the 2D clocks of your card due to PowerPlay, a piece of AMD technology that reduces the voltage and clock rates of your card for applications that don't require its full potential thus saving on power and extending battery life. Rest assured that your clock rates are normal for 3D applications as your benchmark scores are normal and on par for the 7970M without an overclock.

    AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P20736 3DMarks

meh, not very impressed, but then again I didn't know what to expect. completely stock, specs are in sig (ssd and last 4gb ram not installed yet)

edit: Decided to slap a tiny oc (900 and 1300) on and retest.

I think I got a decent card/setup - these numbers are all at stock settings with the stock driver I got from Myth.

    Vantage - Total PCMarks: 20069

    3dMark11 - Total PCMarks: P6093

I plan on running the tests myself, plus playing with a small overclock to see what I can get from her without pushing the heat envelope to much

very nice numbers man, especially 3Dmark11. My vantage score was a little higher than yours stock, but my 11 score was only around 5800. They'll get a good boost from the overclock. I'm at 6300 and 22k with a MILD oc :D

I'm not that high - but I did hit 7111 with clocks that would be rock solid for days on end once that driver is fully bug free. As much as I love it - I've reverted back until its an official driver that's less buggy. I have issues after a while in the game I play most - BF3 Multiplayer. I get a white screen at launch and it tanks.

Can't wait till its an official driver. For the money - its going to be an awesome card.

Not as far as I know of. The max score for gtx-680 that i know of, is 8004, having beat this card by 1 point. Most 680M oc's that i know of end up in the 7.4k-7.7k score range.
Which is right on par with 7970m about now.
All that remains is for the driver to be stabilised and nvidia is officially in the dust.

i use Afterburner. There i go up to 1560 on memory and close afterburner, than i start it again, after i done it im able to go higher on memory and core.

im using an Clevo EM-Model and as far i know there are no v-bios/overvolting avaible for it

Lol, it actually worked :). just set it to 1560, close, open and can overclock to aleluja.. thanks, didnt know about this.

Heres mine at 1060/1600 , dont think the card is capable of going further on stock voltage. tryed 1620 on memory and it crashed.

If I may pose a question.
Has anyone tried to undervolt the 7970m at stock clocks?
If so, what was the lowest stable voltage and difference in temps between stock and undervolted voltage?
