what fps are you guys getting at bf3 ultra maxed out?
-
-
Im getting between 30 and 60 on 64 player caspian border. Averages around 38.
-
same, also at some maps I sometimes get as low as 20-25 FPS at times, but only for like 5 seconds and I can see that my GPU % usage at the time of those low FPS was 44% according to MSI afterburner.
-
Yeah running Clevo drivers... I might have to roll back and start from 12.5 and then this time upgrade display driver only to 12.7
-
This is my score on stock clocks running on 12.7 driver.
How come on my core it says I was at 450Mhz but afterburner says I was on 850Mhs while running the 3dmark11. Is it not reading the right gpu clock speeds right?

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Yeah but don't bother about it, remember we don't have official drivers yet.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
With latest 12.7 leaked I'm getting better fps, namely 42fps of average at 930/1450 ultra preset on caspian 64 man server.
Never drops under 35fps tho.
If they will use these as a base for the next driver we will see only good things in the future, and I'm happy because it shows that amd is really working on getting their drivers right. -
I don't get it though, how come alienware users like SlickDude's 3dmark11 benchmark says exactly what his gpu clock speeds were on 12.7 driver. Is it because of enduro not running right from the current unofficial drivers since he obviously has his turned off?
-
the 12.7 drivers are not meant for the 7970m gpu though, it was meant for the desktop version. and when i was on stock clevo drivers OC'd to 1400/1450 I was also getting an average of 40-45 fps, but sometimes goes down to 25 fps for like 5 seconds then goes back to average. (mulitplayer gameplay rush)
-
Im slowly realising you really do get what you pay for... the Metabox is a budget version of the Alienware rig. Without the ability to disable the intel drivers, makes tweaking the Clevo challenging if not problematic
-
I'm still hopeful for the official drivers making everything run right, but if it doesn't, I'm willing to shell out another $500 to upgrade to 680m. Not stressing about finding good drivers and figuring out how to install it properly is enough for me to be worth it.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well it's hard to say if theyre made for desktops or mobile.
This is an unified driver and no mods or tweaks have been made; mobile Gpus are supported in the card lists as well.
With previous drivers (12.5/12.6) a modified inf file was needed in order to get them installed.
What I am saying is that probably your point is valid for those previous sets, because right now with this leaked driver, the 7970m is officially supported by amd itself.
If these turns out to be at least good as the betas it's a good thing. 3dmark11 score may be lower but the gains you have with almost all the titles I tested across the board is something that shows how the card should perform.
It's safe to assume that previous modded drivers weren't meant for pitcairn mobile at all althought they managed to work in a way. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well since metabox is just Clevo (or Sager) it applies to all Clevo based systems out there.
Anyway there's a huge room for improvement, the line is still young an fresh, I hope Clevo releases a new bios update with the ability to disable iGPU.
Or maybe someone talented like Prema could do a mod to unlock some features purposely hidden. -
i think i heard some representative from a reseller (mythologic maybe?) that the thing with the clevos wont be fixed with a bios update and it would take some sort of hardware change altogether which is disappointing
though i may be remembering wrong -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
If thats true, it sucks, althought we need a solid proof of this claim, otherwise its another rumor spreading game.
By a technical stand point, Clevo cards and Dell cards are pretty similar, if not identical.
So im still debating if the problem is on Clevo side instead of AMD. It sounds like theres a design flaw, but also, reports of people having it working just fine could lead to think that theres a problem with either the vbios or the drivers.
Anyway theres still time, everything is just fresh and new, something can be fixed in the upcoming months.
What makes things challenging is the fact that the problems doesnt extent to the 100% of the users out there.
If you exclude the ignorance of some users about how to properly install and use AMD Drivers (even so if they're coming from nvidia) the "failure" rate drops considerably to 1%, which can include hardware problems.
What im sayin is that most of the problems are caused by users themselves.
Im still puzzled about why people dont use a clean method to install/remove drivers, specially when youre dealing with beta drivers. I saw people installing drivers on top, others attempting to install them 3 times without even rebooting, these sort of horrendous things.
Its better to inform themselves before dealing with drivers, its an important piece of software that can lead to serious problems if not managed correctly. Ive updated my guide in Sig on this purpose, i hope more people take a good look at it. -

How do you guys run 3dmark11. The program won't let me start benchmarking due to an error with something using the screen and or keyboard. Even after closing all and any programs running in the backround it is no go! Was hoping to benchmark this beast!
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Uh well dunno, i just launch the program and bench away, lol.
Are drivers correctly installed? Which ones are you using?
If you attempt to reinstall them please take a look at the guide in my signature, althought probalby you dont need it, but its worth a shot. -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
The drivers I have work fine except with GPUz, no temp or voltage info and most other info too, HWinfo; black screen instantly and 3Dmark11. HWmonitor works fine though.
I am running the latest 12.7 8.93 modded drivers. The card is a QS Dell 7970M. No driver allows full functionality in gpuz. As for installing the driver I made sure their wasn't even a trace of a previous driver on the machine before installing the current one.
Reading on google it seems there have been others with the same issue just not laptop users. Mainly Nvidia desktop cards though..
Aside from this does anyone know when official whqrl drivers will be released by AMD? -
ya well im going to just stop worrying about it till i get my machine should come in late next week or the following monday
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Wait why you're using a modded driver? The leaked 12.7 should support any 7970m released, mine is a Dell card as well.
The ones leaked should install directly without any mods.
Maybe you can attempt to reinstall them by using the package as it is (link in the guide in my signature)?
Dunno just figuring out how I can help you.
If you got them over Benchmark3d site, well they're modded in some way seems, they're not "clean" compared to the originals.
Usually driver sweeper+safe mode hardly miss,I've covered this in my guide along post installation tweaks for both AMD and Windows. -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
Sorry you are right they are the non modded leaked 12.7 drivers.
I think because it is an QS/ES card driver support will be more shaky until AMD release official drivers in a couple of months or so. I know SLV7 also runs a ES card and cannot get GPUz working properly either. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Mine doesnt either, but i dont have issues with '11, thats why im trying to understand whats wrong.
All the infos are missing from Gpu-z besides the clocks. -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
Hmm I think I will try to re-install the drivers one more time. I just re-ran the WEI assessment and it dropped from 7.7 (6990M) to 7.1 graphics score! I am guessing it should be 7.9 right? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Yep should be. If you try to reinstall please stick to the clean method. I know im sounding like a broken record, but its important to get things working smoothly.
-
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
Yeah I always uninstall - reboot - run driver sweeper - reboot - run ccleaner - reboot - then finally install new drivers.
Pretty anal about it so don't worry
Can you link me to the exact location you got the 12.7 from. I think I have the same but just in case. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
theres a small step you should avoid: CCleaner.
Dont use it this time, as it creates much harm than good.
Heres the original leaked package:
[email protected]
There you go. The steps u make are ok, just try without CCleaner this time.
Also after you installed them, please head to the guide in my sig and follow post-tweaks section to disable ULPS, then reboot. -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
Will do mate. Also I will boot into safe mode to run driver sweeper this time too! Thanks for the advice and guidance
Btw back to my earlier question do you know if AMD plan on releasing drivers soon? Their driver support is kinda pathetic lol -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well next driver should be due to July.
Anyway if you get the 12.7 up and running ,should be fine. I tell you these drivers are okish for games, less better for benchmarks.
But as someone said, we dont play with benchmarks, right? -
What harm does CCLeaner cause? I mainly use Auslogics BoostSpeed, but occasionally will run CCLeaner. Never ran into any issues yet. At least none I have noticed.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
No no I was just telling him to not use ccleaner in the next steps he was going to make.
Ccleaner usually removes a lot of junk but it happened in the past that it messed up some vital registry keys that it considered bad/missing or whatever.
Personally I'm not using it anymore after I've experienced the same issue once. -

Also you need to keep the enduro setup.

Anyone haveing trouble with "kdbsync.exe stopped working error" with the 12.7's? I get an error each time I reboot. I've tried reinstalling drivers with no success. According to the M18x guys, the only solution is to go back to 12.5's and dark screen.
-

Yay I have my 7970M working FINALLY. Stock everything gives me P5355.
Now to OC the CPU from 2ghz to 3.4ghz and perhaps even try some GPU OCing
-
What drivers ? It seems none work for me they make win 764 hang at start up. ... everything works until I install the AMD drivers
-
Read up on how CPU are binned. And use google, don't ask here instead of asking what binning is.
AMD does not guarantee you can OC. Be happy you can OC at all. -
I beat my head against the wall for many hours trying to recover from a 7970 driver upgrade gone bad. The only solution that worked for me was a fresh install of Win7. Everything is back to normal with factory drivers.
-
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
At least you had factory drivers
can't wait till AMD do their first official release.
