My computer (in my sig) keeps crashing in games (I play FEAR, and some other FPS's). It says the card stopped responding and then it says it restarted, now this use to happen to me occasionally, but now when ever I run a game, it gives me a BSOD!!! I am getting a replacement from Dell and I was wondering if I switched back to XP would I still get this problem or is there something I can do to stop it from doing this? Is this a driver problem and if so what is the most stable driver used by people who preferrably have a Dell 8600gt?
-BTW: Spending money is an open option.
-
latest driver for xp is 173.76 and fow vista - 173.75
i use 173.75 for xp and haven't had a problem yet, seems to work pretty good. i think u have a driver issue there...
p.s. u can find them at laptopvideo2go.com -
maybe its overheating?
-
it very well may be, seeing how he's getting the bsods..
does it happen in every game u try to play? try changing the drivers first, though -
BIG V its says u have a inspiron 1520
which graphics card do u have -
Well I was using 163.(something) and I used one of the 158's I think and then I went back to stocks and still the same thing
-
i got 8600m gt
-
u might have a hardware problem then. did u try overclocking ur card at all?
-
does the 8600gt perform well on XP?
Also are you dual booting it/or is it a clean install?
Also is there overclocking available on the 175 drivers? -
Yea, I tried overclocking a bit
-
1) yes, very well
2) clean install
3) on 175? never heard of these... people use older drivers like 158.xx for overclocking.
well, is it still overclocked a little? -
Umm, just a bit I guess.
-
try downclocking it to default clocks and then report back.
-
Turned it back to normal, but yet again it gave me the BSOD.
-
did u try using riva tuner? see what temperatures u're getting with it....
-
I've been trying to get it to start again, it shows the Dell logo and after that is done loading it doesnt show anything....
-
how do u still post stuff in here then?! lol
-
Do u really think I only have 1 computer?
-
well, i do
man, if it doesn't even boot up anymore, then it's def. a hardware problem
-
A. I seriously have more than 1 comp
B. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

D. I'm gonna have to back up my HD.
E. I'm gonna have to wait 2 weeks for a replacement -
when i said i do, i meant i do have only 1 comp
2) try booting into safe mode if u can and we'll start from then -
It wont boot, its stuck on the microsoft corp. logo loading scree......I'm startin to hate dowclocking this....I thought I had another two weeks with this comp....
-

-
