Hmm I don´t see that Oblivion maxed out, your drawing distance is lowered else you would see the mountains in the background.

By the way anyone running BF2 at 1920x1200? I do that on my 7800GTX all maxed out 8xAF except no AA and run the game 40+ constant :)

I would really like to see if the 8600 is capable of playing in 1920x1200, anyone playing at that rez? Since I plan to get a DX10 laptop myself it would be nice to compare.

The draw distance is not lowered. That's in game weather where it simulates the morning mist. :D

That shot's looking from one side of the lake south of Imperial City to the other side anyways...

Ah yes you're right :) How many FPS do you have outdoors? That spot you have there I have 30 fps at 1920x1200 though not all maxed on my 7800GTX.

With my 8800GTX I have 60fps at that spot all maxed and with numerous visual enhancements.

While moving around outdoors, I probably have an average between 35-38 FPS with all settings maxed out.

I should mention that I specifically bought a WXGA screen to put less stress on my GPU though...

Well, if you are fasinated by flying, and willing to take a rather long learning curve (if you dont have any experience with FS that is). You should consider the thing you want to do ;) .

==> post above me: those are nice screens! what where the frame rates?

Because of your enthusiastic reply I took some other screens. Frame rates are in upper left corner. Keep in mind i have putted the scenery settings extremely low. When you are on land you'll notice that but in air it still looks good, i prefer more AI traffic above nice scenery... ;)

--> notice the atomium (brussels) in the last screen :).

On my computer the game looks better then in the screens. I think paint compresses the images a bit..

I cant wait to get my Vostor 1500 now, for the BF2 and 2142 players, how low does FPS drop?

With my 6600gt i cant play in the Titan at all? I presume the 8600M GT in my Vostor will handle most games easily.

i have sat near an airport for hours, watching planes land and takeoff...i think it's the dreamjob.
i wouldn't mind a ride with the thunderbirds or blue angels either lol...but come to think of it that is pretty unlikely to happen :(

    Sure do:
1280x800, DX10, everything on high, everything on apart from real time reflections, forced lighting and Vsync. The game feels very smooth even at 15fps so dont let the fps in my screens put you off :D

I don't have screen shots but I assure you that I'm not lying about my experiences with the 8600m GT DDR3 (Asus G1S).

Half-life 2/ CS:S - Everything on high, 16x filter, 4x AA, reflect all, vsync, color correction and I haven't seen anything below 35fps (mostly 50-60).

Bioshock - I don't know what you guys consider playable, but I keep seeing people with the 8600 (DDR2 version at that) saying 1280x800 on high, but in my experience, the only time it is 100% smooth is 1024x768 on high, minus real-time reflections. I mean, on 1280x800 it is generally smooth, but the minute you get into combat everything stutters (just a bit) but I guess I'm just picky in that sense... I don't see why you wouldn't want a FPS to be completely smooth instead of bumping up the resolution, especially when it's not even very noticeable.

Sims 2 - 1650x1050, everything on high, 1 notch of smooth-edges enabled and no lag whatsoever. Resolution may have to be lowered on the DDR2 version.

C&C3 - 1440x1050, Med-High settings (terrain, water, shadows are the only things on medium) 30fps, drops to 25 during some explosions. Note that C&C is capped at 30fps.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - Everything maxed out and it runs perfectly.

FEAR - 1280x800 everything high, no soft shadows, no dynamic lights, runs without a hitch

Oblivion - 1280x800, High settings (HDR enabled) - 50-60fps indoors, never drops below 30 (usually 35-45) outdoors.

NHL07/Madden08/Indigo Prophecy - Res maxed, settings maxed, no drops in fps at any point.

    ET:QW Screens on the way.

First impressions: pretty solid at max @ 1280x800. I dropped shadows and lighting for a slightly smoother FPS, and unlocked the FPS using a couple of console hacks. The FPS average at 30-50, although it can drop to 15 if there are alot of explosions and physics going on. Looks great and plays smooth- even locked at 25-30, it feels pretty smooth.

This is on C2D T7100, 8600M GT GDDR2 and 2GB RAM on Vista Premium x64 and 163.67 drivers.

Amazing anyone claiming 20fps in a FPS playable :)

Given these benchmarks which is good it is given how much the 8600GT is limited by it´s 128bit bus. Seeing here battlefield 2 running at 50+fps on my 7800GTX all settings high except no AA at 1920x1200.

    Half Life 2 runs 40+fps at 1920x1200 all maxed, 6xAA, 16xAF at 1920x1200 on my 7800GTX.

Time for Nvidia to release their real high end DX10 cards before I jump the wagon on the laptop side. Already has jumped the wagon on the desktop side with a 8800GTX. But I mean the laptop GPU´s shouldn´t run Bioshock that bad in DX10. The game is very optimized so they should perform better and at such a low resolution too.

My experience is most games runs at very low fps using medium high settings at 1680x1050, or even 1440x900.

Seems 8X00M GT series is very buggy,
and cannot coordinate well with the T7x00 cpu,
    is limiting the performance.

dude, but those res are pretty high-tech...i bought my 1520 having in mind that 8600 is not high-end...that's why i have 1280*800 screen, and seem to have a decent gaming experience.

Ya...just like mine, the fps drops to below 12 when it is limited by the CPU instead of the GPU.

Even my T7300, frequently both cores shows 99-100% usage and the fps suffers in the midst of all the actions :(....
    Wish I have gotten a higher C2D!

Hmm not sure if the 8600GT is as limited by the CPU as the desktop 8800GTX is. If it is the it is much less dependent. I agree the 8600GT is no high end card. Hmm I´m tired of my single core XPS with a 7800GTX. I want a dual core, so I have though of maybe get one with a 8700GT, since no 256+ bit bus is in the sights so far.

Have thought about the toshiba satellite x200, though saw that laptop only had a 256mb 8700GT while the x205 has a 512mb 8700GT. Now is the x205 8700GT 512mb dedicated memory?

As I said in another thread there is a problem here but it isn't the technical specs of your processor, 2Ghz is more then enough for any game. It will not bottleneck a 8600MGT or even something far more powerful.
