Yes indeed, this was my biggest priority when I bought this gargantuan-size laptop.![]()

can I please have the mod?
-
It is not usefull at all, I explain :
Your tweak just touch to the turbo boost TDP and not the nominal TDP (the one without turboboost)
You just have to desactivate the turbo boost when you are on battery in the windows power management, in the cpu maximum state on battery tab. (you put it at 99% and not 100%, so it desactivate the turbo boost)
Then, you can raise up your turbo boost multiplier and put to max the TDP, because it will work when you are plugged.
So with that you have the best performance without battery and the lowest perf/consumption ratio when your are on battery (typically the announced CPU TDP at maximum, so 37w for i7 4702/4712MQ and 45w for all the others CPUs). -
for example, what I did with my 4702MQ :
Battery :
STATE : Min : 0% / Max : 99%
Frequencie : 799 - 2200mhz with 4 cores
TDP MAX : 37w
Plugged :
STATE : Min : 100% / Max : 100%
Bios prema mod : multiplier maxed out
4cores : @3,1ghz (stock 2,9ghz)
3cores : @3.1ghz (stock 2,9ghz)
2cores : @3.3ghz (stock 3.1ghz)
1core : @3.4ghz (stock 3.2ghz
TDP MAX set to 255 (maxed out, so the CPU take what it needs, doesnt matter because i'm plugged) -
Edited: sorry, wrong thread.
-
hello prema,
please unlock bios of lenevo y50 for overvolting 860m and control fans rpm.
thanks -
Lol, this post is very reminiscent of the big BIOS request thread on the MyDigitalLife forums.
Prema be very busy, he will get round to it eventually
-
still can't get mine to overclock right, and can't upgrade to newest video driver keep getting that lame driver state power failure. so I'm stuck using 332.60
-
Keeping to the subject catzilla 1.3 bench results of my overclock, no volt increase with a GPU temp of 65c max, yea 860m is a beast

Are the mobile nVidia drivers any good? I might consider getting my next laptop with an nVidia GPU as the one I'm using now has a AMD GPU.

as long as your not using a Amd apu ur golden

can someone help me pls ..
?
i need vbios for 860m "Kepler" from here .. but i can't downlaoad the vBios Because i don't have account with 5 posts ..
-
It is a simple request. Some people over at TI put in a ton of work and offer it up for free. You want their work, post five times. The easiest thing to do is to find a thread that interests you and participate.
-
Its not 5 posts, its 5 moderated posts that contribute something to the community. So therefore, something like 50 posts, perhaps even 15 articles, then maybe 5 of those are of a sufficiently high peer reviewed standard to be accepted. It's a good system to maintain quality, to weed out trolls and to eliminate the selfish grab and goers etc etc but to be honest, the last forum I participated in with this kind of harsh vetting system slowly rotted away over the years as it became too prohibitively hard to get new members.
-
They are actually pretty lax with it. I posted maybe a dozen times and I was in.
-
Same here... I actually posted 15 times and all my 15 posts got accepted eventually
-
Wow it's amazing how well this 860m is running Shadow of Mordor
-
What is exactly is "how well?" Resolution/settings/FPS? Benchmark results?
-
I'm running it at 1920x1080 ultra settings getting 30+ frames. same reso on high getting 40 to 50ish
-
Are you using Ultra textures with the HD texture pack?
-
I believe so, steam says they are downloaded and installed. I'll run a benchmark and see what it is for sure. The game is very playable on the 860m
-
I'm getting 36 on high and a steady 30 on ultra. Now this is just the benchmark, what I posted earlier is the actual frames I'm getting while playing according to shadowplay
-
hi everyone ..
i have a problem with GTX 860m "Kepler"
i can't overclocking more than this ..
^
if i overclocking more than 67 to Core clock .. and 500Mhz to memory .. the Graphics card will stuck at 199Mhz coreclock and 100Mhz to memory .. why?
+
why i have low score at 3dmark 13 ?

the real test is going to be playing the evil within, can't wait

Best buy is fire saling thier Asus G750s. One by me has the 4700HQ, 16GB Ram, 1TB HD, 860M for $899. Was so tempting to pick it up but I'm trying to wait for the new models. Ugh. Damn you best buy,
-
That's not a bad deal.
The reason it's on sale (of course) is because new stuff is coming down the pike. -
If it was $999 with 870M, it would have been a better deal..
-
mine was from bestbuy, but came with the i7 4710mq and 8 gigs. I paid 1399.99 for mine but it was worth it laptop is amazing. I figure it's perfect for on the go gaming and school. Come tax time I'm building a desktop anyways. Got mine over the month ago
-
any of those with a Asus g750 series having issues with a driver state power failure, install new drivers and pick the nvidia card in the control panel for global programs, stops the bsods
btw, the evil within running like a champ on the 860m. everything set to max no slow down -
Any news on the Maxwell 860M unlock in Lenovo Y50?
Thanks a lot! -
I have y50 with 860m.Prema has been unlock gpu bios for me, now i can reach to +250 mhz on core and +500 mhz on memory full stable and +331 mV on core and reach 90 centigrade during battlefield 4
-
So much for Maxwell running cool.
Wait, you mean +33.1 mV, right?! Because +331 mV would take it to like 1.4 V which is just insane. I'm not sure that's even possible. If it is, it's dangerously high, and would explain the abnormal temps.
-
Where did you get the unlocked vbios? Cheers.
-
any idea if y50 gonna get a 970m option?
-

Finally found the time to check out my own card for the first time.
I can not be called a "bencher" at all, but initial results are looking good to me on this GTX860M (in Clevo W230SS):

This little Maxwell Monster clocks north of 1400Mhz...while remaining below 70c...this is still just with the same mod vBIOS I made for everyone...let's see...
-
Hi Prema, which voltage offset did you set?
-
This run with 1420Mhz was @ 1.1870v (gpu-z reading)
On a side note Prema Mod vBIOS 82.07.0C.00.A0 >>> now also works flawlessly on my WQHD screen with new system BIOS PM v2 betaAndiiiHD likes this. -
the gpu-z report 1.2 volt
-
i am exited looking forward to the next release :-D and as a small incentive i donated via Paypal 53P77141FK9887224
ps.: maybe you can Spyder the optimal settings for us WQHD owners too ;-) -
Hi Prema, where could we taste this new v2 beta?
-
Prema .. Do you have vBios for 860m "Kepler" at MSI GS70 2PC ?
-
-
Sorry for offtop, but i need to know before i buy this panel,
what about scalling WQHD panel to 1280x720 (4x down)? LCD lose sharpness in games and desktop job or not?
This is true 8 bit panel? -
I find 720p desktop a little blurry but 1600x900 looks great.
-
Greeting to all of you, pro's : )
Can anybody help me to unlock my bios please?
It's Lenovo Y50-70
Insyde 9ECN30WW(V1.13)
Link to my recovery made today - http://www.filedropper.com/lenovo-9ecn30wwv113
Here's backup file of entire bios - https://www.sendspace.com/file/slsnq3
Thank you very much!
And one more question. Will it be possible to modify Vbios? -
Hey man! Unfortunately you'll have to contact Prema directly for this!
Explained here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...18-prema-bios-mod-review-158.html#post9808723
I just bought the y50 also and gunna have to find out what "makes it worth Premas time" haha -
Could you post some screenshots of 720p and 900p scaling compared to the native resolution?
-
I think a screenshot will not work. Screenshots dont show the true picture how the lcd panel is showing it. My bad i have no camera and only a Moto G that does do really bad pictures.
