8800m GTS Benchmarks

Your CPU is definitely limiting you in games and don´t do that 8800m GTS justice. Now I don´t know how much that Gateway costs, they don´t sell it here in Sweden. But it seems like a good price/performance as it seems. Alienware can just shut up, I assume he just looked at the Crysis benchmark and though it looked weak.

Me myself just ordered a XPS M1730 with 8800m GTX in SLI for a very good price here in Sweden. But when I look at that you can play Crysis on High at 1024x768 this just gives me good vibes for my upcoming laptop. Glad you are happy with the laptop Nauticus.

 

my buddy's $3000 alienware has gone back for service 4 times in 1.5yrs already. I do say get the warranty though. but that goes with any lappy from anybody that you spent over like $700 for anyway right?

 

by the way for the love of god let's figure out how to OC this cpu. my cpu runs at 43 gaming!. tons of headroom in this chip. and without changing voltages (cause you can't) i bet this thing runs 3.2 easy and only picks up like 5 degrees or so.

 

Problem with overclocking cpus is the bios must be overclockable from the manufacturer and you need one of those X9000 series chips which cost an arm and a leg.

 

benchmark lost planet even though i have a 8600m gs and a 1.5ghz i would like to see what holding this game back MORE the gpu or cpu

Don, it think us unlucky bastards with the 8600GS are gonna have to suck it up soon and splurge for the 8800 Start savin your pennies, it'll be worht it lol

 

if you allready have a laptop, just build a desktop for gaming, about $600-800 will get you a very superior gaming desktop.

its a good laptop, but the GFX card is not at the same level as the rest of your system.

Ya nar, it deffinitely looks like im gonna be steppin up to the 8800 as soon as i get the system ... great for the comp and my satisfaction, sucks for the bank account.

 

did you like JUST order? how recently? you could probably return for a full refund if your not happy if you just got it. you could then get the Gateway and it will probably save your a few hundred.

 

Not a big fan of gateway, my brother had a factory gateway ... he had all sorts of problems with it ... not sure if it was the excessively large amounts of porn or the manufacturer tho lol

im pretty set financially anyways ... i'm probly just gonna go for the 8800 and be stupidly happy for a while

 

Well remember gateway was recently purchased by acer, so they are probably different.

on topic: I am getting bioshock and UNREAL 3 from friends, so I will have those up as soon as I can.

 

Unreal 3 suppose to be siiickk! Im probaly gonna pick that up along with the new Wolfenstein, Quake Wars.

 

i like quakewars but ut3 i dont believe requiresalot of grahpics. i ran it at 1280*720 and had it all on high and i got 15-20 fps.(it was a while ago before i put in the 4gb of ram so it might be faster)
i also dont have it innstall right now sorry guys

is there alot of difference between DX10 bioshock and DX9? or should i test both?

I believe Bioshock actually does better in DX10 (which is what DX10 is supposed to do)

 

I was wondering....I have the Toshiba X205-7483 that has the exact same processor.....but with the 8700m GT.....should I get this gateway? But there's only one thing that holds me back....is the harmon kardon speakers on this Toshiba....it sounds so great....

 

To tell you the truth, if you're buying a laptop for speakers, you need to get a desktop. Just use headphones or external speakers. I would get the gateway over the Toshiba.

Shouldn't even look at a toshiba for a gaming laptop with the gateway model out right now, its not even a comparision gaming wise.

 

nope they are not even in the same class....the 8800m gts is atleast twice as powerful

ok . i will but the 8800 is more powerful than the 7900 sli and the 8700 sli. thats why nvidia cant really release anything new out right now. because there making so much money. but nvidia is forced to because game devolops are trying to max out that card. etc(you can follow the rest)

 

$1724 for the laptop with the the wireless card. 89$ for the hard drive, and 330$ for the processor. so the total was 2113$.
