Just out of interest, how many threads on this do you have going now?

Well... I posted this one first then I thought it would be better to post it in the gateway section but they both stayed alive. Question. You said in the other thread that the temps measure the core temperatures. I was wondering, since the fan is only a mere 2 inches away from the GPU, how could there be a 54C difference?

Look at it this way. A fire burns at >1200 degrees, if I remeber right (probably not, but it'lll do as an example). How hot is the air coming out of the top of the chimney?

The area in a GPU that is 88C is tiny, we're talking smaller than a matchhead tiny. The heat dissapates through a (relatively) large volume of air, so the air draws away the heat, while only increasing in temperature by a small amount.

I mean this as a serious question, not an insult: How old are you?

Honestly Im talking about 2 inches away here. Look at it this way: I have a PS3 and it runs at about 60-70C Im guessing and the outside is 48.3C if I put my hand near it, I can feel some serious heat. Remember Im talking about the area where the hot air comes out. Heck I can even feel some COLD air near the laptop.

I don't think you understand exactly how fast heat dissapates into the surrounding air when it's such a small source.

Your laptop power supply is probably rated at 90 watts, 120 max. That's the highest theoretical amount of energy your laptop will produce as heat/light/sound/motion. An average hairdrier will put out 1500 to 1875 watts of pure heat.

You see the difference? Yes your core is at 88 degrees, but there's not that much actual heat energy, it's just concentrated in a small space.

If your gaming performance isn't affected, just run it into the ground. If it dies, get it replaced.

Get your reseller to replace it.
    101C is NOT NORMAL.

Now that's not good. Just wondering, what were you running when you hit that temperature?

If it is running at 101C wouldnt I be feelingg it somewhere? The gateway technichians are telling me that the GPU temperature gauge is off. And another guy told me that it would burn at 101C so I dont know what to do. They say that people can just say anything on forums(basicly, hes saying everyone is lying). Im gonna run ati tool for a while and see how that goes.

crysis demo. I took off the legos and just put it on the table because my old mobo(same model) ran at 72C MAX in crysis demo without being mounted or anything

Just hit 105 inati tool in 13 minutes 0_0

Well that's not very nice... But it's sure as hell both applicable and hilarious XDDD

101 isn't usually healthy, but it won't actually burn, thermal cutouts will kick in long before that happens. To be honest, your laptop should cut out/lock up before it reaches a dangerous temperature. I'm wondering how accurate your readings are, I've heard atitool can sometimes read wrong.

Try everest instead, don't overclock, and if that doesn't work just deal with it.

Everything that could possibly be suggested has been, and to be honest I'm wondering if you're not trolling.

hitting 105 is quite bad. If I were you and didn't care about the warranty, I would just check the whole heatsink assebly. The cooler looks very clean, so i don't think there is any dust on your fins, the fact that your cpu cooled well and your gpu is not, means that either there is a problem with thermal grease, or the sensor, or the heatpipe.
