There are a lot of other gases you couldn't use from hazards but you want bad *** temps use liquid helium with a temp of 2-3 Kelvin its ******* cold (in Celsius that's about -270° Fahrenheit that's about -454°) the coldest anything can be is 0 Kelvin ;D

Yup, it's looking faster. Beautiful card.
-
Faster ? i don't see it.
100pts on 3dmark 11 can be acounted by the higer cpu model.
The 3d mark 06 result is not very relevant nowadays, it would have been better with the vantage one.
Can some one post some 3d mark 06 results with the 7970m plz -
dont forget the msi has overclock function
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
True, althought u cant boost that much.
Im able to squeeze 100mhz more on my turbo boost clock. -
I have 3dmark11 overclocked on 900/1400 (It doesn't show on list but that's what I set afterburner to)
AMD Radeon HD 7970M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,CLEVO P15xEMx score: P6179 3DMarks -
well... i get P5893 overall score with my 7970m and a i7-3610... 300€ saved ^^
-
Does 100 MHz really not affect performance that much? I'm able to gain about 300-400 (15-20%) points on 3DMark Vantage with a modest 100MHz overclock (albeit on my puddly Mobility Radeon HD 4650, where this is an 18.2% increase in core clock speed). I really can't wait for a card where 100MHz is nothing in terms of performance gains...
And I think the poster was referring to the fact that an earlier picture of an MSI machine had the clocks listed as something higher than Nvidia's base clocks, not the Turbo Boost's automatic overclocking. -
Here are some stock 7970M '11 and Vantage benchmarks. Honestly these two cards look like they are going to perform almost identically. Either way you go, it is a win for gamers everywhere.
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Actually nope, the boost is marginal, if not non existent.
It may help in some instances where cpu is fully used such benchmarks or games like BF3, but still, i havent noticed any increase. -

Green glasses much?
It looks ok but not ahead of the 7970m.
-
Nothing is decided until we see some gaming scores or 3DMark 11 Extreme done.
-
Looks like Notebookcheck might have the results ready for GTX 680M already tomorrow. As some of you know they have a GTX 680M and is testing it as we speak
Review with it inside a notebook will follow later
Google Oversetter -
Hi everyone, I am repasting my 7970M in a few minutes, please tell me one thing, there is a black plastic sticker aroung the GPU (I have heat sink off).
The manufacturers thermal paste covers the plastic sticker and GPU core itself (the paste sticks to the heatsink only). I am attaching a picture of 7970 without the sticker, but I will mark it red where the sticker is. The material of the sticker looks like black plastic electric isolation tape.
Should I remove the plastic?
Is it okey to apply a bit IC 7 ONLY on the GPU core?
I think the black plastic accumulates heat ... imagine conductors around the core covered with plastic tape, on top of that thermal paste and on top of it all... contact with heatsink.
Any info is very appreciated.
With respect from amsterdam.Attached Files:

dont remove that black tape. it is, as u already pointed out urself, there to protect from any unwanted electric currents and any TIM that might be overflowing from the core onto the sorrounding areas when pressing down the heatsink. also, im not aware of any thermal disadvantages pertaining to that black tape
btw guys, since 680M already supports DX11.1: what extra features can we expect from that? im fully aware that there´s no game out there yet that even supports 11.1, but im curious as to what it might "bring" us
-
Thanx Jaybee, now imagine there is stock thermal paste coverinng gpu core and the black tape, all sticking like a 1 mm sticker on the heatsink when taken off. If I want to repaste, should I use the same 'dimenstions' of the paste (2x2 cm square shape), or should I only apply a bit on the GPU core so it does not spread further to the tape?
-
a rice corn-size dot on the center of the gpu core is sufficient. it will spread out and cover the whole core once u press down the heatsink and fasten the respective screws
cheers -
In laptops you kinda need to spread the thing over the core.
Of course this may differ form laptop to laptop, but most laptops will require you to spread the TIM since there is not enough pressure between the die and the heatsink in order to get that dot evenly spread. -
It is. Look HERE... or let me help you
How? Well as Cloud stated..jaug1337 said: ↑That's odd.. check THIS out

The guy in the Alienware forum tested the 680M yesterday and got P5900. Now we have yours and the official review I posted which scored P6200.
Reason? I think its due to drivers. The P5900 was without drivers optimized for 680M, P6200 was with Dell drivers possibly optimized so that is the score we should expect.

One other thing to keep in mind.
Did AMD release 7970m optimized drivers?
If not, then the results are moot more or less. -
I wish, but you know how AMD is with their drivers. That's why I kind of doubted going back to an amd card, now I'm back to stressing trying to find and wait for good drivers everyday.Deks said: ↑One other thing to keep in mind.

How are they moot? Nvidia hasn`t released any official drivers for it either.
680M is obviously running on Dell OEM driver -
They are both based on desktop GPU's that have been shipping for months now. Those of you thinking there will be a magical boost in performance with new drivers are in for a bit of disappointment. It's not like these are entirely new chips that have yet to see daylight, they are well established ASIC's that are already out there in plenty of quantity.

dell charges +350$ (no kidding) over 7970m
it will be about 1.5k on ebay I guess?
-
If my calculations are correct, the 680 costs around 700-750 USD. The same as the 580M , 480M and the 9800M GTX. The only time when Nividia was (almost) at the same price point with AMD was with the 280M , which cost around 550 USD.
-
Eurocom charge $250 more for GTX 680M than 7970M.
If you buy a Clevo with 2x680M, it will cost $422 more than 2x7970M (or $211 per 680M)
Alienware charge $350 more for GTX 680M than 7970M.
If you buy a M18x with 2x680M, it will cost $550 more than 2x7970M (or $275 per 680M)
So to summarize, Alienware is most expensive -

Hell they are still the MOST expensive, so yeah -
Yeah I know, I live there. The country above your island. We are getting scammed
If I`m buying the Alienware I`m pretty shure I will use mailforward service and buy my notebook from US
-
Remember Uk imports are liable to 20% tax (that's on total cost inc. postage & insurance) -a previous laptop I got from USA turned out very expensive after you factored in expensive shipping and insurance. The shipping agent also charged me an additional fee for having to pay the import taxes on top of it all. It's called getting shafted in this country

geez, you guys are getting hammered...
anyway, if I was buying a lappy now, I would have paid for 680m (greed, you cannot help it), but having 7970m already, I will be waiting for 685m as 200-300 points in 3dmark11 doesn't justify spending another 1k on a different card..
still I am sure 680m will only get better with the driver support, not much better though. -
Dammit, Dell Canada still isn't offering the 680m! Do they not want my money or what!!

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but apparently, AMD has just released a 7970 GHz edition.
