Yeah that's what I did. I selected "600M series (Notebooks)" but it says "No drivers found. Please select a different combination or use the automatic driver detection option."
If I choose "600 series" then the option for "GeForce 304.48 Driver" comes out. -
Are you trying to select the 680M? Its not supported with this driver since its not out yet.
All other 600M will find 304.48 when you search -
Forget about 680m and get the girlfriend, it will help you much better at nights
-
I tried from 680m all the way down to 635m. Only when I reach 635m does the 304.48 download page come up.
So this latest driver only supports 610m to 635m. What a waste of time.
Okay ppl when it's out, it's out we'll all know. You just have to wait. -
Dude please at least read the page ".... Supported Products
GeForce 600M Series (Notebooks)
GeForce GTX 675M, GeForce GTX 670M, GeForce GTX 660M, GeForce GT 650M, GeForce GT 640M, GeForce GT 640M LE, GeForce GT 635M, GeForce GT 630M, GeForce GT 620M, GeForce 610M....."
All REALEASED cards are supported from now on, but it is still a BETA driver anyway... Drivers - GeForce -
You have to click on "Beta and Legacy Drivers", located on the left side of your screen.
Occasionally, one must think, "outside the box". -
What box? The only box I see is my 18.4 inch screen????
;-) -
The dropdowns on the selector page of the website is wrong. The stuff below is correct.
-
The 680m and a girlfriend are quite similar, both are fun, both are expensive, and in the end with both you still end up mostly playing by yourself.
-
Even if the 680m happens to be better this time around, I can't justify the extra $300... I'd rather spend $200 now for something hardly "worse" and use the $300 toward an upgrade in the future.
This'll be my first user upgradeable laptop, so I hope I won't be disappointed with the choice, but, from what I've seen, I'll have no issues going with AMD this time.
Don't get stuck on one side or the other, people, considering technology, listen to your brain, not your heart. You'll be happier that way. -
Oh boy life doesn't treat you guys well does it? xD Never put heart into material stuff but don't give all of it to people unless you trust them! Cant live life without risk. Besides that stuff, I do agree that the 680m is too expensive for minimal performance gain. I don't know much about computers, so I'm impartial to what graphics is best. But the 680m is not easy on the wallet haha xD

Thanks, but they're not THAT cheap. Although a quote with a 7970M costs around $2000, which is great in Europe's terms, their 680M costs more than $500 over their 7970M.
At least they're offering a 3D monitor, which is quite nice. Will keep them in mind.
By the way, is there a reason to go for the 3612 CPU due to the lower 35 Watt TDP? -
Without the proper "drivers" girlfriends can also "crash". And they don't like being "overclocked"
-
The 3612 will have less performance, as it will not be able to turbo as much. I'd stick with a 45w one, unless you are pegging it all the time, it wont make much difference to battery life anyways.
-
Thanks for the answer. I bet the difference in battery life is negligible (who buys a gaming laptop for battery life, anyway?) but there's also the overall system temperature to consider as well, no?
-
Ambient temperature of 77 degrees Farenheit, having the M18X R2 with a 3610QM in my lap (CPU exhaust exits middle, intakes in front of that) running Intel Burn Test I got 71C max. When placed on my desk, it got to 81C max.
-
That's bloody cool! But I guess that's what to expect with such a machine as the M18x
awesomeness
-
i have seen many saying that the 7970m gets to 90C or more on stress tests and even in some games.
So the veredict if it is cool or not is still open.
EDIT: Of course the posts above are talking about cpu temps.
I for example bought the 3720qm with a 7970m, once i have the notebook i will do tests. -
This thread is in the Sager/Clevo subforum and is talking about 90+ temps in the card. Hopefully this is the exception.
-
The high temps are mostly in sager/clevo computers I believe in alienware they run quite cool for sure idk about in the stress tests tho but in games in aw they run cool

I don't see my GPUs go over 76C at stock clocks, and that's only when running a game that can tax both these cards to the max. For many games with VSYNC enabled, the GPUs hover from 25 to 44% usage each, and don't get past 63C. On my LAP. <('_')>
-
God I hope that's the exception... Or the 680M is significantly cooler... I don't want another machine that sticks to 90 once it gets up and running >_<
-
One person was hitting 90C, due to a bad paste job.
-
Looks like AMD's 7000m series driver release are imminent. AMD have updated their website to introduce all of 7000M series. AMD Radeon⢠HD 7900M Series Graphics
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
thats true im hitting 74c worst case when oced
70c at stock.
MSI 16F2 -
Seems the beta 12.7 already support HD7970m
-
it has been like that for well over a month... what we are waiting for is them to show the 7000 series in the driver page
-
link??? I'm currenty running on 12.6 beta 7900 MOD and it performed about the same as the stock drivers...
-
The 7970's in Clevo machines do seem to run in the 90c range from what I have seen. That is a bit hot, but it is not hot enough to damage it so it's fine.
-
On a german forum the reseller MySN posted pictures of the the GTX 680M compared to the 7970M

680M
Source: GTX 680M -
Just got a confirmation that MySN got their GTX 680M sample.
Benchmarks and more pictures might follow..........
oh and the original picture without the caption, HERE, big high5 to MySN! -
I asked a friend who just got the P170EM with 7970m to run FurMark and his temps where pretty much the same as Alienware with 7970m temps.
-
Cool! (Pun half intended.) Did he use an aftermarket thermal compound or is this all straight out of the box?
-
Well we are about to see the real performance of GTX 680M pretty soon. Finally we can leave all speculations to rest
-
Its about time huh cloud
Sent From My Rooted EVO 3D -
Thank god
-
Aha FINALLY!
-
He paid £9 extra for the ARCTIC MX-4 Thermal compound.
-
I don't care what performance 680m is getting because it is overpriced and the desktop GK110 GTX 685 is coming out in September/November so 685m will come out shortly after that. Save that $300 for future GPU upgrades.
-
Yeah good luck with putting a 500mm^2 die with 7.1 billion transistors inside a notebook. Make shure you bring blankets and lots of hot chocolate for the time you will game inside the freezer
-
Lawl I do that with the computer I have now haha well something like that
Sent From My Rooted EVO 3D -
Is it a desktop? Desktop in the freezer?
-
Liquid cooling is where your answer is at.
Is it nitrogen or hydrogen that they use ? -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Anything but hydrogen. Can you imagine the fire hazards?
