    Alexisapin,

What do you mean? The applications in the "startup" menu folder, or something else?

Aside from Ultimate's greater capabilities, were you expecting fireworks at start up?

Dont you mean the boot screen?

I still have Vista Boot Screen even though I am using Win 7. Does not really bother me though since it does nothing anyway

Yes, I'll make sure i get the C-50 one :D.

But, I dont understand what are you said about "better framerates for bad reason". Is that mean, the graphic become more blurry than 522 one?

i think he means that the games might run better cause they have no choice but to run in sub-hd resolutions, due to the screen limitations. i run the more intensive games at subhd anyways for the added performance even though my screen is 720p native. it upscales well enough.

i've been travelling for the last 3 months and its been great to get into a hotel with a flat panel and be able to hook this little monster up. watch some movies and even play a little gears of war.

So, since 1015b doesn't have HD screen, it means better fps? That's a relief.

I still unsure about TF2. Just saw the TF2 video on 522. It got 10-15 fps on 24p server, much worse on 32p server

If you are talking about the boot up screen, that was never dictated by the version of windows you ran. The "pretty" boot animation requires a minimum resolution of 1024x768 to display. Since the screen in the AO522 is only 1280x720 (i.e. not "tall" enough) it only shows the basic one. And really, it's just a boot screen anyways, who cares what it looks like since you so rarely see it even?

I tend to take out the battery once it already charge and just put it in when I am going to use it.

I think reduces battery tear. I'll check mine later.

    Currently trying the brazos tweaker

Hmmm currently using AMDfan's profile but using brazos tweaker I cant seem to change the NB VID. small problem.

I'll try the Phenom tweaker next time or unless brazos tweker gets an update on the issue

it doesnt matter if its plugged or unplugged when fully charged, as modern day laptops stops charging a battery and directs all its power on the laptop itself after reaching 100% and wont be activated til the battery goes down to about 95%.

-just a few things to keep in mind to get the most of your battery.
the initial life of li-ion battery is 3 years. whether you abuse it or not.
[its advisable if you charge your battery 40% or below]

-whenever you're running cpu/gpu intensive programs, have it plugged in. using the batter with those kinda programs damages it in a way. due to the laptop drawing its power quickly.

-avoid exposing it to extreme heat. as it damages the battery.
that means, remove your battery when the fans kick in at max power.

    - if you have a program like HP Coolsense, use it [fan controller]

there's more into it. just search the forums for more info on how to take care of li-ion batteries.

    Oh okay that explains it.

Looking at stock VIDs I was surprised that they used HIGH VIDs. we are now several steps lower with no performance issues :D

so looks like the guys at bios mods have figured out how to mod insydeh20 bios' and that just happens to be the one acer uses on this netbook. I've posted a request for a hack to unlock all advanced options in the bios if they are available. If he is succesful we'll be overclocking and undervolting the gpu and cpu on command! lets see if we can push this little beast to e-350 speeds without melting the chip ;)

In regards to the individual who can't get native resolution on their Acer 522 due to installing 11.8 preview.

I have 4 gb of Ram, Windows Ultimate 64 and I am having no issues whatsoever with my native resolution after installing 11.8.

I have noticed good improvements with silent hill 4 and it seems snappier though there is always the possibility of the placebo effect.

On a different note, the undervolting feature is brilliant and has reduced the
temperature considerably. Interesting that my initial P0 VID before tweaking was 1.875 and P1 was 1.100. I not sure if the decimal point is out of place.
Anyhow these initial numbers seem very high versus the numbers that others had posted. So, perhaps I saved my net book another year.

Can't wait for overclocking to appear as the initial logic was that overclocking this APU chip within the present 522 configuration would cook the chip due to
lack of a proper cooling design for a more powerful chip. Well, no longer an issue.perhaps.

Well, captain obvious over and out.

    this isn't that hard.
    - uninstall the video controller and reboot, don't feed it anything, just let 7 reinstall it. Does it fix the issue? if not, try this next step

    - grab 11.7 or .6 or whatever - any package that is different, DO NOT RUN the .msi or .exe but instead extract the driver files to a folder.
Open the device in Device Manager, hit the Driver tab and 'Update Driver', point it to the folder you stashed the backrev drivers in. bully through the warnings etc and install that, reboot.

    ok I did try to:

    1) format and reinstall win 7 ultimate x64 with the graphic drivers that comes with the windows update. No luck: max res 1024x600

    2) format and reinstall win 7 ultimate x64 and I followed the steps as per cognus suggestion. No luck: still max res 1024x600

    3) Format and reinstall win 7 ultimate x64 and installed the graphic drivers from the acer website. No luck still max res 1024x600

    4) Did the same with windows starter x32. Nothing. Max res was 1024x600

at this point I wonder if I have a "special" model of the AO 522 that supports just 1024x600? On the back of my laptop is written: ACER ASPIRE ONE 522-C5Dkk.

searching on google "522-C5Dkk" there is another user with the same issue....

any way to override the resolution settings?

"Problem" solved, your screen is in actuality only 1024x600.

Looking up that specific C5Dkk sub-model on Acer's site AO522-C5Dkk | Product Model shows that it has a WSVGA display. Which as you can see on wikipedia there, WSVGA = 1024x600.

Sorry you went through all that installing and uninstalling so many times needlessly. >< Your screen is working at the right resolution that it was designed for. It just isn't the same screen in other 522 models have in other markets.

Furthermore on the project page, you can find a HowTo under Wiki.

    Thanks a lot,

The email shouldn't be fully visible anywhere. Only after a recognition question. This is done because of web bots, which are looking for full email adresses.

I'm working on tweaking the NB/GPU voltages and some users on different systems than mine, reported it to be working.
I'm also still looking into getting temps, fanspeed and voltages from an embedded controller, but this stuff is not documented at all and is likely different from each vendor.

Phew, managed to read the whole thread... AGAIN... (ok so I skimmed through the part I read before). That search really should be fixed...
Anyway, great work with the brazostweaker :) Unfortunately I can't put my voltages as low as some of you... but 0.9v seems stable so far (I still have to let orthos do a burn-in test before I lock it in place with the service though) and it already makes quite a big difference in temperature.

I've upgraded my 522 by now with 4 GB and a crucial M4 128 GB SSD, very fine performance with those upgrades... havent gotten around to games yet, or to installing eclipse again, but windows and firefox fly by at amazing speeds (considering the CPU in this little machine).
I've also reinstalled windows, ended up with a 32 bit windows 7 enterprise, mainly because I didn't really think about which version of windows I was installing, just grabbed a DVD I had laying around to make a usb stick to install from, didn't realise it was 32 bit until later. I'm not going to bother installing again just for that though... It runs great anyway.

Drivers were no problem since I backed them all up first... the only thing I wonder, has anyone who has reinstalled windows gotten the on screen display part working again? That is, the overlay you get on the default windows install when you do things like turn wifi on or off, change the volume, hit caps lock... All the FN-combos work for me, but I don't get the overlay anymore. I installed the epower management, but the other installables don't seem like they're useful at all. I'd rather not try them all to see if one of them might enable the OSD... The drivers I just installed by having windows look for drivers in the DRV folder (except for graphics, I installed the newest one from amd.com for that).
So, anyone have any idea if you can get OSD working?

Heh, sorry guys, I did actually search beforehand, but as always you find the answer shortly after you decide to ask for help ;)
The OSD is enabled once you install acer's launchmanager application. It's in the DRV folder (Dritek Launch Manager (Acer) if you used the eRecovery management to create backups) or can be downloaded here under applications:
Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Netbook / Aspire One / AO522

Okay.. i just get one of those pretty good netbook's , but i faced some problems. Mm actually i think it's software problem. Last night i read the thread but somehow don't understod how to fix the problem with Catalyst Control Center. It seems that works but only in Process in Task Manager, when i tried to open user interface it's not poppin anything. I just ask for some quick guids , i think the problem maybe is that my OS is Windows 7 32bit and somekind of a Tiny Os that means not a fully copy of Windows. If one one can help i'll be so thankfull.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english ;(

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for such a great program. My acer 722 ran ridiculously hot at stock settings, and undervolting makes it run a bit less ridiculously hot.

I've run into a bug, though, figure I'd mention it in case you were unaware. I can't currently undervolt the nb/gpu at all. Trying to reduce the default 0.9/0.8 pops up an error message "Invalid P-state settings: P2's VID is greater than P1's". My c-50 doesn't have a p2, and reducing p2's vid anyway causes the program to crash with an unhandled exception error.

Anyway, hope this can be fixed in a future release. Thanks again for the utility.

    :D

I just heard that yesterday from another user too. Thanks for letting me know. I believe, I know where it comes from, but I need to verify it first. Problem is, that I have a E-350, which uses P0 .. P2. I'll try to fix it soon, since obviously a lot of C-50 users of BrazosTweaker are out there.

Btw, don't expect too much of NB/GPU voltage changes. I was just today finally able to prove to myself ;), that undervolting of NB/GPU is really working. We are probably talking about 0.5W reduced power there, which is why its hard to see.

Actually, you can try to add an issue on the project page, than you will be notified, if I have fixed it.

Hey, I finally bought ASUS 1015b (I know, but it's not different). After upgrade it to 2gb, try to play TF2 with Chris FPS config, with average fps ~40 & never below 30. Hooray!

    Might trying BrazosTweaker later.

Hey, Perricoach. Can c50 handle New Vegas?

Okay.. i just get one of those pretty good netbook's , but i faced some problems.

Think about it, Acer can't release one until they have a BIOS that supports that APU now can they? :p
