Yeah...my 3d mark score has been stable : (

Has anyone tried star wars KOTOR? I tried to play it, but it crash on the startup. Then I check if I actually can play it:
f-ing Bioware, man.
So, anyone have some solution? -
hmm. maybe try to set the multi to a overclocked state. of cause its not overclocked, but the program may identify it the wrong way as cpu-z does.
Windows problem: try to run the install in xp mode or something like this.
but i think this wont help anyway... but at least you can try -
I downloaded the Catalyst 12.1 from AMD's website and after that, I noticed marked improvement in youtube video playback. It used to be jerky as stopped every so often but not after the update. Not sure about video playback as my C-50 worked decently well as a HTPC.

Anybody know how to override the resolution settings in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview? Although it runs well on the AO522, all the the "metro" apps are worthless as they refuse to run simply demanding a minimum 1366x768 resolution minimum while the AO522 screen is only 1280x720.
-
yu simple cant!
metro apps are mainly for touch controls...
nothing special really...
and i dont like were this touch hype is going ...its bulcrap.... -
This thread is invaluable!
Hi guys, I recently acquired an Acer 522 with a C-50 apu. I was wondering if anyone has performance issues with Quicktime browser plug-in player? I frequently watch movie trailers(like the ones you find on Apple's site) at 720p and noticed it is barely viewable. I'm encountering everything from stuttering to moments of pauses and my system seems to slow down at this time. I went into the Quicktime plug-in settings and enabled GPU acceleration but it still hasn't resolved my problem.
Is there a way to smoothly play these hi-def Quicktime trailers without bring my system to a crawl?
Here's a summary of my system spec:
Win7 64bit(installed from scratch)
4GB ram
ATI Catalyst 12.1 driver
120GB SSD
Chrome browser(up to date)
Quicktime plug-in(latest ver.)
Thanks in advance! -
try to play that files in different movie players like MPC, VLC, WMP, ...
-
There doesn't seem to be an option to directly download these trailers. The moment I click on it the Quicktime player pops up and starts buffering the trailer. I've even left it until it reached 100% and played it but it makes no difference as it stutters and lags.
-
also have yu some codecs installed ?
try this CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack
i watch even 1080p movie, so something is wrong in yur system -
Hey guys,
i need your help. I when I connect my AO 522 to an external display through hdmi the desktop is cropped. It's as if it was too big. The resolution is set to 1920 x 1080. Krishna wrote about this problem on page 97 but there was no real solution mentioned to solve the problem. The only way I can make it fit is if I change the "HDTV-Format" to the resolution of 1776 x 1000. Then the desktop is a little bit too small. But this is not the solution I am looking for. I want the desktop to fit at the full-hd setting (1920 x 1080). I hope someone knows how to solve this problem.
Thanks. -
OK everybody, finally an overclock that works. K10stat, get the latest version, download, change the pstate. My 522 is now at 1.4 ghz.
cpu-z registers it.
Forget it. Cpu-z registers it, nothing else does. Apparently we've all been through this already. no change in windows index. posted too quickly.
I have used Black box, another program similar to cpu-z and it's live reading the same. Perhaps many of the monitoring programs simply take the information allocated on the chip, which reads out what it's supposed to be. Because, as both Black Box and cpu-z are live monitoring software, they are correct. Now, I have seen where cpu-z will read a c-50 as 4ghz, which would destroy my theory, and while it seems faster, I can't tell, because my imagination tends to get into the way. though of course, it seems faster, as I wouldn't have posted further. I suggest others to try it, perhaps they can figure something out, I am going to do some different benchmarks today, oh and I have been monitoring the temperature of the chip and it's definitely hotter. Again, I will have to do more tests.
again it's the latest version of k10stat. -
which version is it? is it 1.54?
-
k10stat, Well, it might be. I downloaded the one from August 2011, the latest one in the list that I came across to download.
I have been running the c-50 at 2 ghz, while I don't think that it's actually buzzing at that level, there is a clear performance boost, though it doesn't show up in the windows index, though it did show up in the black box windows index scan, not for the processor, which showed 2.8 , but in the overall score, which showed 4.8, so perhaps the windows index follows the instructions of the chip in test mode, or well, I don't know, but the final score for black box windows index, the total score, was 4.8
Anyhow, there is a performance boost, no doubt and games run much faster, including essentially everything else. I don't want to create a false positive panic of joy, so try it out for yourself. I am interested to hear. -
i will try that...probably bad readings
, did yu try aida64 monitor?
but if OC is succes WEI score must go up... -
Ok, something is happening as the clock multiplier for the c-50 is changed through k10stat.
I have gotten the multiplier up to x40, though the stock multiplier is x5.
There is definitely in my mind, an overclock going on, simply not a traditional one. I boosted through k10stat , the multiplier to x40, which caused cpu-z and black box to read 4ghz. Open hardware monitor, which was showing stock numbers when I had the c-50 at 2ghz, went up to 1700 ghz when I took the multiplier to x40 , or 4ghz on k10stat.
Aida, is showing the multiplier increase, which coincides with what happens with an overclock through the multiplier.
This is real, just a bit fuzzy to figure out how this is happening. -
that its quit old story...but yu must have performance inc. proof...otherwise its only bad readings ....
-
Right, crazy guy who imagines the overclock. Krishna, simply go to browser, type in k10stat download, grab the latest, the august 2011 release.
open it up , change the pstate and then see the overclock. Test for yourself. My point is that something has changed, I don't know what, and it's not showing up on the monitoring programs, outside of the one's that could be wrong. Just try it, no harm and let me know. Take the leap and see for yourself.
Oh and now everytime I power up the netbook, an AMD install window appears briefly and then there is a C: window that briefly appears, so something is loading into the system. -
I just reinstalled Win7 on mine over the weekend after being done with the Win8 CP and I'm seeing the same thing too. Not sure what it's exactly doing. *shrug*
-
ok i has try it..and its bump..yu can change multipl. but fsb is decreased to match 1ghz max..... or maybe nothing is really changed...i used aida64 for monitor and wei score shows no change
also good to mention that Acer ePower Management is doing some stuff... and also i got brazostweaker srv. installed
but it seems bios is controling final clock...
so try to uninstall this acer app..but i think no chance
amd window on start is amd update app i think....
and to the guy with croped output, try to find in CCC scale image by GPU...
new next gen win8/7 driver : http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=360108
win7 go with latest 12.2-3 whql www.amd.com -
Well, because of the overclock feeling, or the bump, I decided to run Sandra to benchmark the performance. I discovered where this bump is coming from.
The Gpu was clocked in a benchmarking test going 1066 mhz.
So, the cpu is also being read at 4ghz. Sandra states 998mhz/4ghz.
The Front bus was also clocked at 111mhz, which goes against the theory of it being reduced through the locked bios against the multiplier increase.
Sandra also rated this netbook 11th. higher than 76.74% results. Rated as: Good Performance.
My c-50 ranked better than all of the other c-50's and beat a c-60.
here is a link to the rating: http://www.sisoftware.eu/rank2011d/...bddbcdde0d4e1d9ebdff98bb686a0c5a09dad8bf8c5f5
Oddly GPU is being read as AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics, you can see it in the rating from the link above. -
no i mean , ITS NOT WORKING....
-
@krishna: Thanks for the quick response. I already enabled "GPU Scaling" in the AMD Vision Engine Control Center software, unfortunately to no avail. I also tried out the newest drivers just now. Here is a picture of the settings: settings.PNG. Maybe any other suggestions?
Edit: Ok, just did some changes on the monitor and the screen is mostly visible. Not 100%, but better than before when i could barely see the taskbar. Should do for now. Thanks. -
That's odd...because it's working for me. Fallout 3 is super fast now. Oh well.
-
Download Super PI Mod v1.5 | techPowerUp
do 1m on high perf. mode and post with cpu voltage if tweaked...
my c50 0.9375volt 1m pi in 1m 15 s 254 ms
upd. 1.0volt 1m.16s200ms...so more volts change nothing -
Sure, here are my results.
+000h 01m 15.270s
voltage is 0.9250 -
so from both super pi similiar results, i take it as no overclock yet perhaps? hehe.....it would be amazing if our 'quite old' cpu could get a bump...but there are not much hope untill a bios programming freak feel a hitch to do the miracle
-
Is there a super pi program for gpu? As stated, the gpu in the sandra benchmark was read at 1ghz. Of course that looks fishy but I am experiencing real world performance increase. If it's not the cpu, perhaps another.
I am fully aware of the official limitation with locked front bus and multiplier, but front bus was measured at 111mhz. there is some boost somewhere, I am not mad, and I connect it to k10stat. I will continue to search for proof.
I ask for anyone with games on their computer to test k10stat, fallout 3 or oblivion, it's not a big burden to try and that's where I am seeing the goodies. Also, snappier windows experience. Or, I am nutters. -
I'm downloading 3dmark 06 now to benchmark.
-
i played oblivion with 20+ fps before (with HDR) maybe i'll do some test later..but i've tried to play CPU bonded game (PES 2012) and dont feel any improvement or changes whatsoever
-
hmm but how gpu could be OC with cpu multipl. ? that dosent make sense
only hope some guy will break the bios..and this was said by experts...
croped image...idont know man, i cant find my scale by GPU option ..hm, and still if i choose native projector 1280x768 its squashed, if i choose 1280x720 its ok...strange that native resolution is broken (on both scenarions)
write feedback to ati ..
also i tried morphological aa - MLAA with 12.2-3 whql and its working now as should...so check it out -
@krishna: thanks. Couldn't get any improvements from settings in the Engine Control Centre. But I did some adjustments on my monitor and the desktop fits now, so it's good for now
Can anyone recommend any good thermal cooling pads for the C-50? I used the thermal grease arctic cooling mx-2, which is suppose to be really good, but did not achieve significant changes in CPU temperature. There is quite a gap between CPU and thermal module (about 1mm), so a pad might be better than thermal grease. -
all: how much reallocated sectors on native HDD is acceptable ? i got 1
-
Where to download graphic driver for c 60? can't find it at amd site
-
-
installed windows 8 consumer preview and installed AMD's preview driver, the resolution is at 1280x720 yet Win8 is picking it up to be less than 1024x768?
tried changing resolutions and will try a reinstall next.
Just strange because I've found no other person having such an issue. -
try installing some recent preview beta driver for win8
i got one on desktop
check here: Videocards - AMD - ATI Drivers Section - Guru3D.com Forums -
from somewhere I found the Toshiba Hdd has very quick increasing reallocated sectors, and eventually it'll fail within one year, it happened in China last year, many customers have changed into another kind of Hdd within the warrenty period if they can, I have a toshiba Hdd too, but I have sold it seperately in case of quick failure. if you have another brand Hdd inside the acer522 , you are luckly, it seems that only toshiba has this issue so far
-
yep toshiba, how many bad sectors is for Rma? i have ext. waranty 5 years...
also good to mention is that yu can get disk shift easyli.... -
hi
is there anyone tried modding the drivers just like the one on this website?
http://benchmark3d.com/amd-catalyst-modding-guide-and-performance-test -
that modding is useless
even 1% gain is not worth it
-
anyone know this acer 522 pll's?

Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
Cant believe this thread is still alive
Currently checking trinity's performance -
Anyone tried Diablo 3 on this netbook yet?
-
havent buy yet, iam waiting for discount
it should run on low/medium -
Greetings!
Thought I'd post some games I've running on the 522 with absolutely no hardware changes. In some instances I use an external monitor, though some programmes are suprisingly tolerant of the akward built-in resolution -- both follow.
Europa Universalis II & III (incl. mods)
Diablo I, II, III
Dungeon Keeper I & II
Starfury
Space Empires IV
Civilization I to IV (incl. mods) :: CIV COL, etc.
Homeworld I & II (incl. mods)
Rome: Total War (incl. mods)
Dwarf Fortress (incl. mods)
Black and White
Caesar I, II, III & IV :: Pharoah, EROTMK, etc.
Children of the Nile
Simcity 3000
Simcity Societies
CityLife
Gratuitous Space Battles
Gates of Troy/Chariots of War
Hearts of Iron II (incl. mods)
Victoria I & II
Pacific Storm
Master of Orion I, II, III (incl. mods)
Mount and Blade
Rollercoaster Tycoon I, II, III
The Guild II
Port Royal II
Tropico I & II
Spring
Spore
DOSBOX and collection
Startopia
Many titles are omitted as I haven't installed them, or have met with Securom/Starforce difficulties while attempting -- obviously doesn't like my external disc drive.
Any titles released after 2009 are hit-or-miss on this netbook. Fully expect that with a RAM upgrade and some tweaking it could handle Civilization V (as perviously mentioned) and other more recent releases. -
Can anyone here install SETFSB freeware and get diagnosis on setfsb, i will try to help you all to overclock amd but i need that reading, the registers values.
Thank you -
amd c50 overclock has been out there for a LOONG LOONG LOONG time.. cant help myself to create an account just to post this for you guys.. just download the latest setfsb and pay for the activation key.. its less than 10 bucks.. ICS9LPRS430BGLF and set fsb to 128.1(most stable for me) and click setfsb.. you laptop will restart by itself and cpu-z it to see for yourself.. remove any power saving software like super hybrid engine for asus..
-
current reading is 1.28ghz cpu with 360mhz gpu.. anything higher will just crash.. wei is 3.4.. enjoys..
-
not work malexsky...setfsb cant read the clock with that pll...are u sure its acerr 522 or another machine?
