aha i see, may driver uploadead half year past)) going for 12.1 than
i wasnt impressed by 11.12 on games.... only windows perf. is better, but games run worst hm
and to all other, dont bother there is no overclock possibleyet
-
I am skipping the 11.12's and going to the 12.1 preview driver.
Using an Asus 1015B here with the CPU OC'ed to 1070MHz by a custom BIOS
-
I like one with turbo cache to 1.4GHz please
-
Just wondering if there is any physical differences between the AMD C-50 and C-60 APU?
I bought a AMD C-50 ao522 the other day, did a full format and updated drivers.
Now it shows as a AMD C-60:S It even does Turbo as I can see it jumping to 1.3Ghz on cpuid.
Maybe just a glitch? -
Acer sold netbooks with C-60 in there, even if the package said C-50. You can not make a C-60 out of a C-50.
-witteks -
Is the C-50 compatible with sony vegas 8 or sony vegas 9? I keep getting install issues so I think maybe the c-50 does not support sony vegas
Can one of you guys try installing? -
KipCoo, I tried installing Sony Acid Pro 5 and couldn't get it to install. For some reason it wouldn't go into the install process and kept failing. Perhaps it's a Sony issue.
Ableton does work, I have 8.25 live installed so I don't think it's a performance issue, though I just don't know and do not have a copy of Sony Vegas on at hand.
I downloaded the 12.1 drivers and they seem to work well, though I am not seeing any drastic jump from the prior 11.12 drivers. In fact the windows interface doesn't seem as smooth, though it may be as fast or faster. I have begun shopping for a E-450, as they just have so much more firepower, but then again, the only shortcoming of the c-50 is playing games and I may just buy a xbox 360 and keep the c-50.
I am using it as my only computer and it's enough for everything outside of playing wicked games. -
Vegas Pro 9 does not seem to install on any C-50 machine (I've even read reviews saying they cannot benchmark it because it will not install), but 10 and 11 do work.
-
Guess I got lucky. Because I before I did the format, I swear Windows had said AMD C-50 cpu.
I only noticed when I checked the WEI score after installing my 4GB stick.
Thanks -
uploaded 3 new vids...dead space, hawx and forced unleashed 2... here
-
guys have yu artifacts in videos with 12.1 ? i got to many on vlc player..suspect driver
-
Might need a newer VLC build for it to work properly with HW acceleration.
I usually go with CCCP and DXVA accelleration of H.264 on my notebook but then again i got a i7 that decodes video with ease.
Wish i had a smallish E-450 ultraportable though. -
I loved DXVA acceleration........right up to the point some encoders of H.264 videos decided to switch to 10-bit encoding over the standard 8-bit encoding. No current video chipset on the market accelerates these bull$h1t 10-bit encodes.

Hey, does anyone mind testing out The Witcher EE/Diviniy 2 on this little machine? Thanks!
-
The witcher EE fluctuate from 13- 25 fps..with default setting, mean 720p and medium setting...just turn the quality down and u should see improvement

Krishna nailed the drivers, the 11.12 vs 12.1 AMD drivers and what they do with the c-50.
First, after testing both several times, I am certain that the 11.12 drivers give a better windows 7 experience and my sega games, virtua tennis 3 and outrun 2006 plus raiden 3 play much faster, the overall c-50 experience is better but.....
The 12.1 drivers gave me better performance on mass effect 2, well, less cpu interruption, considering that the CPU is a bit myopic. Could mean that the 11.12 drivers are throttling the gpu and forcing the cpu to expose itself.
Also, there was more graphic display elements such as the glowing light source, activated through 11.12(meaning raw improvement at 800x600 lowest settings). Doesn't matter as we are in the bottom carving of the AMD fusion APU totem pole.
AMD, your APU chips for the ultraportable,( yes, I assume that you glance across this site), your APU chips have the basic configuration up into the e-450(within the netbook , ultraportable class), when you look at the baseline similarities, offer up a breakthrough to take your loyal c-50 fans up to speed. If, there is an issue of sales, the c-50 is too good to throw away, so increase the bounty of our techno suave decisions to support your advances, keep us propelled into the future with a nice set of overclocks. -
I'll post a 3Dmark06 with 11.12 Tomorrow

11.12 Driver 3Dmark06 : Score at 2008
I'm scratching my head in disbelief because every time I ran 3dmark06 my Acer-722 is getting a higher score. Going from 12.1 to 11.12, I notice a small bump in Graphic performance but my CPU score got the biggest bump a 2.3%
11.12 3DMark Score 2008 v 12.1 Preview 1994
SM2.0 Score 720 vs. 716
HDR/SM3.0 Score 895 vs. 892
CPU Score 782 vs 764
GT1 - Return To Proxycon5.52 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest6.48 FPS
CPU1 - Red Valley0.25 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley0.4 FPS
HDR1 - Canyon Flight8.19 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze9.71 FPS
History 3Dmark06
Nov 29 Driver 8.93: 1735
11.11c : 1829
12.1 Preview driver : 1994 & 1996
Windows Experience Index Update:
From 12.1 preview to 11.12 I got a bump on gaming graphics from 5.5 to 5.6
CPU: 3.3
RAM: 5.2
Graphics: 4.1
Gaming Graphics: 5.5 to 5.6
Hard disk: 5.7
Other information. I do have BrazosTweaker running and undervolt. For the 11.12 Test, I ran it in high performance instead of balance, I'm pretty it doesn't make that much of a difference but it's what I did different.
3Dmark06 Test 2: I scored a 2006
3DMark Score2006 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score716
HDR/SM3.0 Score895
CPU Score786
GT1 - Return To Proxycon5.52 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest6.41 FPS
CPU1 - Red Valley0.25 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley0.4 FPS
HDR1 - Canyon Flight8.23 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze9.67 FPS
The first and second test, my take is the struggle inside the APU, the cpu vs gpu portion. The first score higher in SM2.0 720 vs. 716. While the second score higher in cpu 786 vs 782. It's the battle of managing that 9Watt of power between the APU

^ did you use brazos tweaker to locking the cpu & gpu to 1.33ghz and 400mhz?
-
Hi im new to these forums but reading this thread on and off for ages when had the time .Anyway through reading this very long thread ive noticed that some kind peeps have put the 64 bit drivers for this loverly netbook up here but the links are no longer working .
Just asking if any kind person could repost these drivers as like many i did a complete reinstall of windows 7 ,Putting windows 7 professional on the acer aspire one 522 netbook before backing up the drivers folder .
Now i cant get hold of these drivers as they are on 32 bit of the acer support page .
If any of you kind peeps could do this i would be very grateful for you help . -
Nope. The first state is at 500Mhz, second state at 1.0GHz, and third state is at 1.33GHz. I'm certain you can't lock it above 1.0Ghz. and GPU goes up and down, without the ac it drops to 277Mhz. I'm more of desire to extend my laptop life than burning it
-
Weird Glitch:
My computer sudden starting running EXTREMELY SLOW. Playing videoing or running everyday task. I open up brazostweaker and I was stuck at 500MHz!
I change voltage and fiddle with the setting and it start speeding back up to 1.0GHz and 1.33GHz.
Make sure you check your Brazostweaker if your unvolting and if your computer gets extremely slow
-
Cool Discovery! Regarding C-60
Check this out, If I run my computer on "high performance"
Brazostweaker states my frequent ranges from 1.33GHz to 1.0GHz, majority of the time it's at 1.33GHz! Even when idling. The P2 state which is 500MHz does not EVER come up even when idling.
Balanced
Has all 3 states 500MHz, 1.0GHz and 1.33GHz
Power Saving
Only has 1 state which is 500MHz
In summary, I believe there's a 3Dmark06/performance difference between Balanced and high performance setting
I ran a 3Dmark06 with latest driver.
Score:
3DMark Score2005 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score715
HDR/SM3.0 Score895
CPU Score784
GT1 - Return To Proxycon5.48 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest6.45 FPS
CPU1 - Red Valley0.25 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley0.4 FPS
HDR1 - Canyon Flight8.21 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze9.68 FPS
Using high performance setting gets a 2.4% gain in 3Dmark06 vs balanced. [Just CPU score] -
It is the intented behavior to switch earlier (on a lower load level of the CPU) to a faster PState, when using "High Performance" over "Balanced". By the way, these profiles are from Windows Power Options and can be configured there. BrazosTweaker is just able to switch easily between them.
Through the Advanced Power Options, you can lock specific Pstates, if you want that. -> "CPU Performance Management"

i have been messing around with android(ics from android x86 project) on my 522...it messed up my windows install, had no dirvers for wifi, ethernet or sd card reader, ended up being unbootable and didnt really work right but the ui ran smooth and if it didnt have those bugs i would retire fedora and windows...will post video
-
FYI the best video driver for the C-60 is the 11.11C
I tried the other ones and I start dropping 3dmarks below 2K usually around ~1800. With the 11.11c I get consistent 3dmark06 of 2K : )! -
but in C-50 11.11c didnt do too well..i think its the 8.93 18nov for c-50
maybe later i'll try to benchmark it -
make you uninstall the driver first than reinstall. When I reinstall 11.11c I only got 1800 score and uninstall and reinstall bump up to 2k!
-
Ok boys and girls I updated my Acer 522 bios to the latest one and installed the 12.1 beta driver yet my C-50 hasn't changed or gotten any boost.
Am I missing something. -
Uninstall and re install 11.11c
-
The C-50 can not be turned into a C-60, if you missed that
-witteks -
helios, sorry but acer locked the bios very well
until than , imposible to move the c50
-
And even, if the BIOS would be open, you couldn't make a C-60 out of the C-50, since the locking is done through the processor itself.
-witteks -
I'm not saying making my C-50 into a C-60, I simply read that one of the new drivers changed the clock speed from 276 to 400.
-
That would be my mistake. I thought that there was a overclock from the 11.12 drivers due to reading brazostweakers nb states which states that the gpu was running at 440ghz.
It's still 276 but 11.12 is a good optimized driver, at least for me, that has given a nice performance boost. -
The driver cannot change the clock speeds. They are also locked internally. There are just two different states, which the driver can request. They are called P0 and P1 for the NB/GPU, which is similar to the CPU PStates. Both PStates (P0/P1) have different dividers, which makes them have different clocks -> P0 - 400MHz / P1 - 276MHz (these numbers differ between C-50 and C-60, while they don't match the GPU clocks -> it seems there is still a divider from NB to GPU clock)
Sometimes Powerplay settings are by default set to disable P0 on battery or under certain power profiles. Before you run any testbench, always check, if you can see the NB jumping back and forth from NB P0 and NB P1, if you run FurMark for instance. Once this is working, you can start a testbench like 3DMark.
-witteks -
A few quick questions that probably have already been answered. However, since "Search this thread" is apparently broken I will just ask them:
The C-50 is completely locked, yes? There is no way to overclock at all?
Did the default install have some sort of graphics overlay when you increased volume or turned WiFi on/off etc? I reinstalled with Windows 7 x64 Home Premium and don't recall if that was the case.
Thanks! -
It seems, the C-50 is completely locked. The only way would be trough increasing the output frequency of the clock generator on the motherboard, which feeds the APU. Stock frequency is about 100MHz on the Brazos platform, which might be increasable to about 110 or little more (from HTPC reviews). Unfortunately there are almost no tools available from the board vendors to modify the clock generator (PLL), except for desktop motherboards.
-witteks -
witteks, please it is possible to HEX find and modify fsb value in bios file?
-
Hi krishna,
I don't have any experience with BIOS's (yet
). No idea, if this is even hardcoded somewhere in there.

nice, what details yu have used?
-
How can you play with C-50 when I can barely get it working well on an E-350? What settings and any special config file to improve framerate? I even overclocked CPU to 1.73GHz (from stock 1.60).
-
Not me, but I asked the uploader:
"Everything on lowest settings, but you can also play the game with medium detail settings."
For performance c-60, if I recall, got ~10 fps on 800x600 low. Using config might help -
Yeah, I set mine to 1024x600 all low and indoors get ~ 20fps, outdoors about 12-15fps depending on what's going on. Then again after looking at the video, he's not really in battle, just an isolated area of the world with really nothing much else going on.
-
is there any update regarding unlocking NB voltages on this netbook? I try any value but it won't crash, monitoring tools like aida64 show the NB VID changing correctly after updating in brazos tweaker but the system is not crashing, so nb voltage is fixed.

those should be very good drivers..but cant garantue

any one can install a Android system?
found here: https://sites.google.com/a/android-x86.org/web/ -
I'm doing some testing of my E-350 Brazos GPU with two 4GB sticks and one 4GB stick of RAM to check single channel vs. dual channel. Surprisingly the single stick seems to be performing better than the two sticks, but I'll hold further comment until I get it all sorted out. However on my Llano DV6z laptop with A8-3510MX the IGP is doing about 20-25% better with dual channel RAM vs. single channel.
