on what preset? on performance, crossfire 7970's should be getting over 51k stock.

My heavily overclocked gtx 570 SLI system gets 49500 vantage on the performance preset

Mobile version doesn't compete against the 7970 desktop

    The 7970m is a downclocked 7870 desktop by 150mhz

Just to clear the air...the results i got back from the tester was 11,500 3dmark11 from xfire 7970m's on an es m18x R2 tester. I don't know if this was with or without tess. Regardless, its an impressive number for a laptop

The IGP is part of the CPU so you have to look there.

If it's trinity then yes, its sounds like its going to be 50% faster than llano, but that's off topic for this thread.

Remember guys with 2x7970m in vantage you will become CPU bound in some tests.

If this is the case, would some of the higher end CPUs at least remove this possibility?

indeed 1.96'' aint that thin. its good looking though grant you that.

even the p170em is thinner than that at 1.79'' the p150em is 1.69''

I don`t really foresee the 7970M ever going inside a thin notebook to be honest :p

1 year from today I bet you'll see a 7970m performance level card with low enough power consumption to be in a 1.45"/5lb or profile

rep me in a year guvnah

not going to happen. Basically for that you need a lot of changes, and while diminishing the power consumption and the TDP those are there to be used fully as they are now, as they will be more than probably be.

Wiki rate the 7770m at 32W tdp that's much smaller than 45W of current gt 650m,do you think that dv6 7000 will have 7770m ?

iirc AMD & nvidia have different methods to calculate the TDP of their GPUs (total board consumption <> chip consumption) so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

So, will the 7770m consume less power and cooler than the gt650m ?
This is the first time I buy a laptop (and discrete VGA too :D ),everything is new to me

To get real power data you will have to wait for reviews.

You also need to consider the cooling of the system more. A more power hungry chip with a better cooling system and better idle management can be better than a cooler chip with poor cooling and idle management.

The only time you need to worry about chip power consumption by itself is as an MXM upgrade and it's unlikely the 7770M will be in an MXM format and even if it is then you would know and be doing some serious work to your notebook.

Possibly, but they are really NOT widely used and getting hold of them is harder even than MXM-B cards.

So often, what would've been a 3.0a card is just soldered to the motherboard, for various savings.
