Dear members,
Since 2 months, the product Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 2550 was listed in the drivers section. I used to check it every few days to find out what its hardware would be.
Today I see that they have updated their drivers, the Xi 2550 features an ATI HD 2700 Mobility video card.
Any specs are not confirmed.
Discuss here about the HD 2700.

NIce finally has amd done something usefull* in a long time
*releasing something that beats 8700mGT and hopefully 7950GTX
if it fits in 15" laptops than they got a bomb! -

Sounds like AMD's competitor to the 8700M-GT. They are a bit late to the game as usual but nonetheless it will be interesting to see what this card will be capable of.
Thanks for the news Dr. -
I doubt it will beat the 8700M. It will be, most likely, between the 8600M and the 8700M. That's just my opinion.
-
It would be in a 17'' though.....
But good news none the less -
I thought the HD2600XT was the direct competitor of 8700M GT, allthough it's only seen in the HDX.
But cool. We'll see how fast it is when released. -
Yeah...I wanna see it in business laptop if possible.
The HD2600 XT is more like 8600M GT performance wise. -
Maybe an update to the 8710 range along with peryn would be amazing
-
I assume that it is based on 2600XT, only clocked lower so it can be fit in 15" laptops.
-
It could be, since HP had worked with ATi (and still does) on their previous line. But it doesn't matter as long as it's not better than the 8700M GT.
It can't be underclocked. -
Screw HD 2700.
I want HD 2950M!
actually a 55nm 2700M with higher clocks would be nice -
Found this on a Norwegian site:
http://www.elmag.no/index.php?page_id=5&article_id=4016#
"Fujitsu Siemens bærbare toppmodell Amilo Xi 2550 har 17-tommers skjerm med HD oppløsning på 1920x1200 punkter. Grafikkort ATI HD2700 med 256 MB DDR3 VRAM."
I don't feel like translating but it should be pretty obious what it says anyway. -
Damn it seems that it will have 128-bit bus interface since they are giving it only 256 vram probably slightly better than 8600GT gddr3 so whoever said it will lay between 8700GT and 8600GT was right i woiuld assume.
-
DDR3 or GDDR3 ??????
-
DDR3 according to the site.
-
its same...
G-DDR
G stands for Graphics
DDR
Double-Data-Rate
3=3 -
WOah thats means......SPEED!!!
-
-
i would make a communist joke.........
-
Say it...I have no problem with communist jokes...
You know some German and that's a problem. -
HD 2700 should be MXMII so maybe someone can figure out a way to put it into a 8510P...
6000 in 3dmarko6 overclocked would be nice -
man its a typo nothing elsethere DOES not exist a graphics card with DDR ram they all have GDDR ram and reason everyone is writing DDR2 vs GDDR3 including me is because it sounds cooler and different more signs sounds better also used for marketing ploys..
-
Macpod, first of all the card needs to be sold separately to put it in a 8510P/W if it will not be installed when it is going to be released.
Heil bla bla and Sieg Heil existed before Hitler, so...
Anyway, the card...if nVidia will not release anything better (if it will be better than the Quadro FX1600) I think HP will update their line with this new one or just with a Quadro corresponding to the 8800M, which surely will top this one. -
-
I do not really know but i am sure that ddr3 than is same as GDDR3
-
.......
-
-
but i was too lazy to argue
-
It's not being used widely because it's pricey at the moment. -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GDDR2
according to wiki than i and every other owner of vDDR2 sdram have GDDR2
And if DDR3 was not GDDR3 than it would be GDDR5 but that is first releasing after 2008 again i believe its a typo and nothing more...
But if it is not than it is going to be GOOD very GOOD. -
I'm not so sure about that... Asus omits the G from GDDR on other cards as well there is no DDR4 at this point for instance and this one has GDDR3, not DDR3.
-
SO mujy if the HD2700 does use DDR3 then........
-
-
Ok **** ati or whoever did that for confusing us like that but you are right

Guys could we get on topic again, thanks.
I think the fact if the HD 2700 is 128 bits or 256 bits is more important then the discussion of DDR3 and GDDR3...
I truelly hope it is 256 bits, because the Amilo Xi 2550 has an WUXGA screen. And playing at such a resolution with an 128 bits video card is not pretty... -
Well, now the thread is OK to go again.(After cleaning lots of off-topic posts)
As the subject is very hot and users might want to discuss it, the thread will be re-opened, but if it goes off-topic yet again, we will have to take more serious measures. -
this better not be one of those unsupported/unlisted cards again.
-
It might very well be... Ati's trackrecord ain't too good
And I'm sorry for the OT'ness we caused. -
Sorry about the mess.
My opinion, as I think someone stated before, is that ATi hasn't made a quite smart move considering that nVidia will launch it's 8800M soon and ATi doesn't have the upper hand in performance now or in the near future. It seems that ATi is working on being the best second place. -
It doesn't make sense for this to only be a 128bit card, because then it would hit essentially the same performance and market as the HD2600XT....However, this is AMD we are talking about, the same AMD that made a tri-core processor because there were so many defective quad cores, so its a possibility.
-
Yeah, since they already have a competitor to the 8700M-GT (the HD2600XT), I would assume that either this is a special HD2600 derivative, or actually more powerful than the HD2600XT (perhaps based on an R670 derived core?) .
-
Is R670 AMD's new 65nm core? I assume it isn't the one the HD2900 is using, since that is a hella power hungry card.
-
Actually, I think I misspoke, the codename is RV670. From what I've heard it's a 55nm die shrink of the current R600 that draws around 120W less than the fastest R600 boards.
-
But yeah, unless this is faster than HD2600XT, or if the XT is HP exclusive (like th go7600GT was for sony), I see no point in it. -
I don't think the HD2600XT is faster than 8700M GT. Do you have any benchmarks?
-
-
-
well considering the hd2600XT was supposed to compete with the 8600m gt, i think its doing a fantastic job.
