2048 is a bit overkill huh ?
-
-
I've yet to see any hard info about it but hasn't there been mention that Alienware was working on an OC feature/BIOS for their notebooks?
I'd even take OC software like the ASUS W90 or MSI GT 725. -
yes there have been talks and there was a person that has some screen shots of a OC'ing bios
it used a software like the ASUS and MSI -
2048x1152 is viewable all the way down to 15.6" screens. -
lol each to his own
-
are they going to come out with a 15" version also?
-
I love the chasis. However, if CF GDDR5 4870's are released... I dont think theres any reason to pick this one over the M17... aside from battery life.
-
eventually they will
proably before august so that it can sell to the college students this year
another reason the m17 should get them -
Yeah! 280M GTX SLI, an industry first.
Can't wait to see the benchmarks and FPS in game play.
And a great new screen too. -
-
-
touche my friend
-
haha why would anyone get this over the W90? stupid Alienware..
-
....i can think of many reasons
-
the only glaring one I can see is the back-lit keyboard, and possibly the switchable GPU, but when has alienware ever been competitive for pricing. Actually their M17 wasnt priced too bad actually.
-
I was looking at the pictures of the GPU slots, and they appear to my eye to be MXM2.1 slots, which would mean 800MHz memory instead of the 950MHz. -
thats because it was a rebrand
its an exclusive its gonna be expensive
its a HIGH end system
but Dell's new part in the company may let them be cheaper -
Kevin those were not the new systems GPU
those were m17x GPU's original -
-
possibly switchable GPU's
where do you get the possibly ? -
-
the third GPU is one of tha main rasons i am getting this
-
-
I would've known you were talking about the m17x. -
lol
fine i have no pics of the m17x v2 -
Now you wouldn't look stupid with that laptop at work...
Gaming notebooks shouldn't look like gaming notebooks, makes you look like a kid with a huge Gameboy. -
-
i will be taking it every where
-
I saw the pictures now and i will say the bad things because good where mentioned above
the notebook looks oversized;
you know how rugged notebooks have 2cm more for protection
same thing here , im sure that the front has 1 inch of pointless thickness;
also the screen is triangular at the top.
I'll stick with the m17 4870 (luckily) ; looks more serious to me
The allpowerful maybe is powerful as performance , but has the design of a toy for children
any chances for 9400m idea in the ati m17 ? -
no way it will happen they did not design the laptop Flextronics did
Quanta made the m17x so AW could put what they wanted -
Is it me or am I the only one who thinks this thing is actually quite ugly?
15" brother would be awesome
with 1.5 inches thickness
1920X1200
GTX 280M
$2000 flat and I'm sold -
-
Insane laptop right there...
But seriously... ATI? HAHAHA (runs back to his nVidia clique) -
-

Asus w90= accidental warranty + customer service .
Alienware m17x= you mean we have to fix it warranty. -
lol, well said. -
LMAO!! That's why I love these forums so much. You guys are hilarious!!
w90=4870 w/DDR3 which are really 4850's w/DDR3=similar performance to M17.
New Alienware=280m GTX in SLI (a first) + great customer service
When I talk about A.W. customer service I'm speaking from experience.
There are several Alienware CS folks who frequently offer assistance in these forums.
Is the same true of ASUS and Cleevo? I really don't know, that's why I'm asking. -
it does look very nice.
i dont think the price is worth it though...a decent 280 sli setup will cost an arm and a leg. -
No offense at all but... Guys who got a gateway or a vostro can't really call any notebook ugly...
-
this thing looks heavy in my opinion..........but a beast of a machine im gonna try to save some cash one gpu is fine with me.....
-
as for the guys that are complaining about how the new AW laptop will be overpriced. u guys got some issues. what other laptop offers the same or similar hardware (not just internals) as the new AW one? none. this is a laptop aimed at the hardcore gamers, that want the best and brand-exclusive hardware. it was designed to be big, bold, and in yur face. it's like tryin to buy a subtle or plain lookin ferrari or lambo. u won't find one.
the edge to edge display alone would sway my decision towards the AW. i love edge to edge displays. how many other top of the line notebooks have that? -
-
-
Good looking or not is all a personal preference, there is no point in pushing what you think is beautiful or ugly to other people.
All the best to Dell Alienware.
-
i was simply havin a friendly debate with another member. i can't wait for more high-end laptops to come out with edge to edge displays. -
I'm a little older than the average gaming laptop owner but I do like the style of Alienware laptops including this new one.
I didn't care for the earlier models with the bright colors though.
The matte black finish tones it down just right for me.
Kinda like a stealth bomber.
Some folks like the "all business" plain wrapper style notebooks. That's cool too.
For the market this laptop is aimed at, I think they did a good job. -
Whow i really like the looks of this machine, somehow it doesnt seem to over the top.....i mean its definately a gaming machine but its not as loud as some machines around........and GTX 280's in sli......yes please!
-
it a balance extreme looks with extreme performance
