I doubt it. I'm sure once they go to a die shrink it will be the 9XXM series.

If that means that I can simply upgrade my Clevo with a GTX 880M instead of buying a whole new laptop then I'm happy. I want Maxwell goodness but a whole new laptop just a year after I purchased this one would be pushing it...

If it's a die shrink I'll 100% get it (as long as I have the moneys of course) but if not... I'll probably still get it. Now that I've gone high-end I'm getting the dreaded PC-upgrade addiction! Further compounded by the fact that this laptop simply can't be overclocked without going thermonuclear and getting severe thermal throttling. There's only so many times one can repaste before one loses all patience...

I just do not see them not releasing Maxwell next year, we will probably get 28nm on everything but the high end GPU's which will be 20nm, the top card and with a little luck the runner up .

Not sure if I should wait or get the 780m iMac. I only wanted to wait if the performance boost was going to take it into desktop gpu territory by 20nm process or something.

Going to the US in January of next year, but somehow I doubt that the 8xx series will be out by then. If they were, hello new lappy for half the usual UK price... Might just grab an XBone or PS4 instead to at least get that cheap new electronic feel.

Yeah that isn't going to happen, even if you were going in July next year I doubt you would be able to score a laptop with 8XXm series .

Current hign end gaming laptops will wipe the floor with "next gen", especially with the Xbone, the laptap in your signature should aswell, you just need to add more ram and you should be good .

Great. I wondered how well a 780m would fare against PS4/Xbone. Hopefully BF4 & CoD Ghosts are ported well for PC. Screw Xbox Live or PS Plus monthly fee.

Isn't Maxwell supposed to have a 64-bit ARM cpu, otherwise know as project Denver? Also, isn't it supposed to have what Nvidia call Unified Virtual Memory, i.e. memory the cpu and gpu can share? I guess without 20nm, they won't get the huge power efficency they had hoped for.

and now hp who is branding a GT 840M on their lappy, i think we will have a BIG rebrand from NVIDIA, same 28nm process, but more mastered so they can bump up a little the frequencies..
Hey guys, what do you think ? is nvidia going to make the GTX 860M 960 cuda cores or we will have a rebranded GTX 765M + mhz's ?

    660M > 750M > 840M.

    Can't wait for the 930M :)

i expect the cores to be way slower than the kepler ones, so we can have an 1:2 ratio maxwell:kepler performance :)
the GTX 860 would have 1152CC(kepler) ~ 2304CC(maxwell) cores which is logical if they go for the 20nm. Still i can expect some renaming for the mobile series, or a GTX 860M with 960CC.

There might be a way to get GTX 870M and 880M right now. Engineering samples most likely.
Source say they are expecting them to be released around April 2014.

    Can`t reveal anything else :wideeyed:

If anyone have the means, driver knowledge, bios knowledge etc to make it work on their notebook
and the money, not exactly cheap,
    and is interested, PM me.

I wish I knew buddy. I don`t think we are that far away. They probably do GT cards first. Maybe rebrands first, then some from Maxwell. Then after a month or two release the GTX cards from Maxwell :)
HP just listed GT 840M in their upcoming notebook and since ES of 870M and 880M is leaked, Nvidia is at hard work making new cards.

Any idea about the 800M series? Well, I'm betting the upcoming year will be a surprising one. A lot of members think it will just be another re-brand year, like this year (2012 - 2013), but I don't. Maybe it will in the low-end cards, but I'm not talking about those... ;)
