Avp Demo Is Out On Steam!!

i thought it was going to be out tmrw but here it is, Aliens vs Predator Demo!

installing it right now and can't wait to play it!!!

am i the only one that can't get it to actually download?

 

that happened to me to. I fixed it by restarting steam

 

Had to restart steam several times just to get it to download.

 

Nope when I click on it, nothing happens. I suspect server overload ><

I can't seem to find any games... .stuck on "searching for games". I wish there was a single player portion.

 

So far, this game is amazing!! just one question after you grab, do you have to click or does it automatically kill the person

After playing and winning my first game (i was a predator)I must say I am very pleased. The game wasn't laggy. However, I couldn't figure out how to change weapons, lol.

try restarting steam that happened to many of us.

 

well the game runs very smoothly with everything maxed out on my desktop. Yayyyyy im so happy now

 

Even If i cant play right now, Im just glad someone put a demo of their game for all of us to see if it fits our pc specs/gaming need. Remember the days when a game HAD to have a demo? I miss those.

 

damn you! And I was going to go to bed early tonight too! grrr.

 

A lot of users at the steam avp forums are just plain dumb. They can't seem to grasp that its just a demo. "OMG, no dedicated servers, no mic options, what a pos!".... it's just a demo!

 

Hence the reason so many companies don't bother with demos. People want a fully completed product for free I guess. They don't know that it's just a sampling of the game and an indicator of how it might run on your machine, if anything, it will run better than the demo because final code will be optimized, obviously.

 

Hmmm, guess I'll have to wait for a few more people to download. It couldn't find any games to join.

You will get a server eventually just takes a while......runs fine at 1280x720 with high settings on my 1722. Not really that impressive right now. The game feels like multiplayer for the first Fear game.

Edit: Beware of disabling vsync, the menus do not have a frame cap and you will easily see the fps running over 100. This caused my gpu to heat up to 90C without vsync enabled. Use triple buffering and vysnc to get rid of the problem.

 

Aliens can own so badly in this game if I can master the transitioning.

 

except thats gonna be almost impossible to do with the wonky controls. I thought no prone was bad in bc2 theres not even a zoom option for the marine in this game. Someone said devs don't release demos/betas to the public because people expect them to be perfect, I say its because they don't want people to see what kind of pos they will be releasing.

 

if i play as aliens, i stay at the bottom of the list, but as a predator, im staying at the top!
it's fun, but i dont think ill be playing alot of these death matches.

Alien's movement is so confusing but I can see someone completely master it.

 

is there single player or MP only?

Here's a mini review on the game.


It's hard playing the marine. They seem to be the weakest even with all their weapons. The next is the alien. It gets kinda dizzy with them crawling all over the wall. The controls are a bit weird, left mouse to use your laws and right mouse for tail. Sometimes I'll get lucky and hit E for a head bite.

The predator, which at this point only one person can be seems a bit OP. Unless you sneak up on them, you're pretty much dead. So it's kinda like the movie, but a bit cheap at the same time.

The only game so far is deathmatch and it's a free for all, kill whoever you see.... I'm sure they'll be teamplay in the retail, but since it's just a demo, it's kinda hard to know what buttons, does what.

I plan on buying this game and maybe pre-purchasing it soon. Seems like alot of fun, but we won't know til the game comes out. I'm playing this on my desktop and can't wait til I get my hands on my new G73 when it comes out. I can't wait to see what DX11 is like.

downlaoding right now, also u don't have to restart steam, just pause download and then resume it, same thing, worked for me.

 

Since our rigs are similar how well does it play?

 

45-60+ fps non-overclocked. All maxed 2X AA.

its not a fail, they jsut have this issue with matchmaking right now. you jsut have to wait for now and you 'll eventually join

 

I know this sounds real lame and borderline lazy. but what the heck are the controls for these guys? I dont know what the heck to do!
I especially cant figure out how to change the Pred's weapon when i find a new one.....
