Avp Demo Is Out On Steam!!

hmm, waited about 5 minutes, never saw a game or anything, just sat there saying I was group leader...

 

The default keys to change weapons are 1-4 i believe. You can change the controls in the menu. After selecting I think you have to use the secondary fire button to use it.

Takes a lot longer than 5 minutes to get a match sometimes, alt tab out of the game and do something else for a while.

 

weird.. i had tht issue too but now everything's fine and i join game really quick

 

Also did anyone get their voice chat to work? mine's on V in control setup but it doesn't work

 

This game sucks so much. I feel bad for the developers. It feels like I'm playing Doom or something.

did u play as the aliens?? if then ,how can you say this game sucks???!!! in my opinion, this game is amazing. i just can't wait for all the modes in the full version. Anyways am i the only person that can't get the voice chat working? I have it on V in control options but it still doesn't work

 

Yeah as a marine, it feels like doom.

 

yup i have to admit that playing as marine is kind of boring but the aliens are just so fun!

 

is it balanced?

seems like the marines are screwed in general.

does it feel like doom in that the graphics are not great? explain.

yes the devs did a good job balancing the three species and i play it maxed settings on my desktop and the graphics are great for me. Just give it a try and try all 3 species. I recommend aliens though !

I love it. I didn't have any trouble playing as the marine. The multiplayer base will be huge and will stay huge simply because of the alien/predator fanbase (me included).

 

feedback not so good on WSGF, its reported to support surround gaming 5760x1200 out of the box so thats great news and means I may buy the game but they say its very sluggish and movement/weapons are awkward compared to the original.

Also graphics are supposed to be very dated for a 2010 game.

Its just a demo so things may improve before final release but I doubt by too much. I have not tried the game myself yet been way too busy with other stuff but I do have it downloaded.

the game is kind of cool. would have been stellar a few years ago. kind of missed the boat.

They managed to make the graphics look so good in all the pre-release screen shots and videos lol.

Wasnt a very large demo, I could see them toning the graphics down or including much lower resolution textures for the sake of keeping the demo a reasonable size.

Yes, the final game supports DX11, but that doesn't mean it's going to look substantially better. In fact, it will probably just feature high-res textures and slightly better lighting effects. Not a significant improvement. I didn't find the game fun at all, you just run around killing each other, it's not so much fun. And the level design is horrendous, it's terribly bland, boring and closed. The game mechanics seem seriously flawed. I really don't know why anyone would want to buy the game after this demo.

I understand that there are fans, but that shouldn't automatically mean you are going to buy anything branded AvP even if it sucks.

 

Would you care to tell me the definition of the game mode "Death Match"?

So you're going to judge ALL maps base solely on this one map?

And what "game mechanics" seem flawed? Everything seems fine to me and a lot of other gamers.

No game is made to make everyone happy, but this game does make Aliens and Predator fans very, very happy.

 

I gotta say seeing the aliens run around on the walls makes me feel like im in the movies...

 

As a Pred, I got my kicked a bunch of times, as a marine, it's easy to kill preds and aliens, as long as you see them

 

Just played a match now, man, that shoulder cannon is terribly deadly

 

My big question is will there be a mode where a squad of 8 friends can kill wave after wave after wave of increasingly difficult aliens from a Hive. You know like the movies where realism and yelling and screaming will come into play and people who scream OH GOD HE GOT ME RUNNNNN!

I'm not looking for just multiplayer. I'm looking for Rebellion to have this mode again. It's like survivor mode or something but I don't remember exactly what it was called. I forget which version had it but it was oustanding both online and for lan play. It's may favorite part of these games.

None of my friends want to play left4dead with AvP. Meaning I don't just want 2 or 3 factions fighting each other. I want Hard mode crazyness where you get into it and with the lights off and the stuff hits the fan you really get into it.

Reviews here don't look promising and I will not preorder until I know this mode is in game. I'm going to download the demo for it Saturday and see what is going on for now.

We should all be on the same team and it should be insanity.

Playing as a squad of predators against like 1000's of aliens would be balls to the wall awesome too.

 

"host of the game has left, game is migrating" then "connection has been timed out" Honestly it started with MW2. The worst game ever, only played by homos. Now every game has this BS p2p connection system. I'll bet ya BF2BC will use p2p as well. F that!! If I'll ever see anyone from infinity ward on the street their lives will be considerable shortened. FU*K p2p!! give me dedicated servers!!

A demo is like a test drive. It's supposed to be the final product but you get to drive it before you buy it. It's not a beta. You can choose to think differently and certainly not all software companies have been as concise as they should be about this. It is great that you like the game but comments made here made by people I generally agree with lead me to some of the same conclusions with evidence to support their ideas. It's great that a demo is out. Good job on the software companies part for actually releasing something to the public. A try before you buy piece of software.

4 player survivor screams console port to me. Even though its not. It's just the way it seems to me. I care about this game being awesome. I have 7 friends who I game with locally who all want to buy this. I really hope that this can be changed, edited, fixed with a dedicated server and a change to the game.

 

Yes it is a console port, but thankfully it implements Dedicated Servers...

The game didn't give me a good first impression. I was expecting more. I am not sure if there will be different Aline/predator/Human builds of some sort, but I wanted to have some sort of "class" system instead of just 3 races with what appears to be simly skins pasted to each other.

I will still keep an eye on it but... Well it just wasn't what I expected. As a predator I felt so limited on my jumping abilities and basically naked out of weapons. It is true that their weps are OP and can kill everything though, but it is sad to see a hunter stripped out of weps

Also, the vision of the predator felt a bit useless but I guess part of the issue was due to the map being so closed in.

Anyways, any news on how many players the game will support online?

 

Been playing a bit and I have to say I really like it, been looking for a good multiplayer game. Aliens are really dangerous once you learn how to use them. Wish I had taken a pic of the Aliens tail through the Predator's back, was nasty... lol I for sure will be picking this one up. Hope the Single Player is as good as multiplay.

 

Ahh my cheap 25$ headset broke.. just gonna buy a good gaming headset for just to play this game. Listening really helps, when an alien is nearby, you hear those alienish sound and when predator is nearby you hear those predatish sound and when marine is nearby.. well you hear gunfires Also listening to footsteps too and the sound effects during trophy kills are pretty good.

 

The game is pretty decent even for just being a demo... if you turn Vsync off it helps with the slow feeling movements and smooths things over a little bit

I like it so far. Its not great but its not bad. 7/10. Combat feels weird though. Especially with that locking system. When I'm a predator I yet have to be killed by an alien. Unless he suprizes me from above, I have never lost in "hand to hand" combat with alien. All I do is click that left mouse button and I'm good. No need to block. Haven't played as an alien yet. Marine is fun too. smart gun basically rulez everything. I can't imagine playing this on other modes with some actual team based combat. Could be a lot of fun. Game runs amazingly well. looks fine too. Nothing special though. Not that you ll care as 90% you spent your time in pred vision modes so all the colors are the same. Its not a sequel to AVP2 from Sierra but its a damn good AVP game. If your a fan, then its a must. All the little details, alien/pred sounds, wayland logo etc. etc. are back. If you have never seen any alien or pred movies. Well, you don't deserve to live on this planet anyway then. Go back to MW2 or halo3. lol.

Alien is amazing, so fast, I have been kicking butt as an Alien.

man, I love this game more and more every minute. I luv predators. Once you get the cannon, your a really tough beast to beat. lol. Just stay quite for a while, marine is going past you and them boom ... headshot! predators are pretty much amazing in this game. In short range combat, they rule. In long range combat too but you have to be careful as that laser from that canon will give you away very quickly. Remember, Marines can't see you so sneak up as much as you can. Don't just fly in there with your X-men claws thinking your gonna win. Trust me, that smart gun will bury you very quickly. I still haven't played as alien but so far they have the hardest job to do. Beating predator in hand to hand combat is impossible and they have no long rage attacks. They are pretty powerful but only if you attack from a suprized position. I'm not sure if in full version there is going to be a team death-match but beating a group of marines camping in a corner is going to be tough.

 

I would have to disagree with you. I have beaten many predators in hand to hand combat by counter attacking or doing a strong attack+grab combo.

 

Have to agree with that... But I do love Predators too... They're Delicious....

 

Aliens seem to be too visible. Doesn't matter how I approach, but I always die. So far I've found the marines to be the best class. At least online we did species warfare, basically only attack a different species. Marines stuck together and owned the rounds.

 

People die as alien because when someone shoots at them, they try to attack the person shooting directly. You have to go around or just run.

 

Soo how many people here are actually thinking of buying the game????? i already pre-ordered it.

 

Do you guys think that they will improve the graphics for dx 9 too when its released?
