I also didn't see any mention of fixing built-in comms.
-
Ok, hang on... I can adjust my FoV??? That might be helpful to know since b@st@rds keep sneaking up on my flanks, seemingly out of nowhere!! Might also explain how some guys can see me on their flanks when I am trying to sneak up on them! How do I do that tweak? Without cheating of course!
Yeah, Helmet, mtshadow and I had fun last night. Might need to find a server with little better pings for mt though!
-
Howdie guys, haven't played this for hmnn 4 days and it seems like forever already! Stuffed with finals and NHL playoffs. Noir did you catch up yet?
I should be closer to lvl 50 now if I keep playing...also, have been playing lots of assault so points collection has gone down compared to medic.
-
Go to your BC2 settings folder:
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\BFBC2
Open "settings.cfg" with Notepad, change the last line that says:
Fov=55
to something like
Fov=75
Try different value and see which one you like, around 70 is about right for me personally. -
Is this legal?? i.e. have you had any problems with punkbuster? I can't really see how this is legal as it gives you a clear advantage over other players with the standard Fov...
-

Get my 5870 tomorrow, will be decimating the battlefield by the afternoon.
-
Anything's legal if you don't get caught.
Just kidding... it's fine with PB and DICE. I haven't had any problems with Punkbuster. I even tried the "floaty mouse" fix, and even that didn't get me kicked/banned either, safe to say, modifying your FOV is okay, heck, they even have this as a sticky on the official BC2 forum:
http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/423140.page
Plus, it doesn't really give you that much of advantage over default FOV value, it just looks more comfortable on a PC monitor with higher FOV value. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I've been using the FOV tweak since day 1 with no problems whatsoever. DICE has said it's OK. Everyone can change their FOV in less than 30-seconds in the settings.ini file.

Not yet a little bit more haha
There will now be a DLC for the custom skin pack. NO release date yet for PC and PS3 only for 360 has been released. -
Some people need to adjust the FOV for their motion sickness.
Speaking of FOV, here's a calculator: http://rjdown.co.uk/projects/bfbc2/fovcalculator.php
The last game I tried adjusting the FOV was Borderlands but it would reset every time I entered a vehicle and would also get a tunneling effect while sprinting. I'm guessing this doesn't happen with BC2? -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Yep, I was getting motion sick with the default FOV of 55. In fact, if there would have been no way to change it I would have likely stopped playing the game.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I use 65 FOV since this game uses vertical FOV not the more traditional horizontal FOV the numbers are different.
65 FOV in this game is equal to 90 FOV in most other games. -
How high do I need to go if I want to see 360*
I would like to make it so people cannot sneak up behind me and knife me anymore. -
Well that's pretty cool then! If it's on the EA forum then it's a legit fix... gonna have to try it out and see if I notice the difference; i've been okay so far. Thanks for the info!
-
Yeah I have been using the fov fix since day 1 and have not had any problems.

The new patch is out. Time to find out what weapon changes they made.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
Noooo I should have played more today and yesterday and worked for platinum on the M60 and Gustav before the patch.
-
I read some stuff on the ea forums and people said the m60 and cg are untouched but the 40mm nade has been nerfed big time. Also people are saying the tracer dart is like a sniper rifle now so its going to be hard for the choppers.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
40mm.. hmm I did die a lot from those but considering how weak the assault rifle is in the grand scheme of things I think it was a justified strength for assault to have it.
It had long reload, minimum detonation distance, and a few other weakness to go along with its strengths.
I find it hard to belive the M60 was untouched. They probably did not change the rate of fire or damage so people think its untouched. I think though they will have dropped the damage at long range or its accuracy.
The main complaint was how good it is at both range and up close.
I hate to admit I agree, it was just as good as engineer or assault up close and almost as good as a sniper at a distance. Medic is the only one with absolutely no way to really damage armor though.
Going after a tank with a defib unit doesn't sound like a good plan

Hmm seems like hit detection is crazy improved for the ARs. The server browsing is improved and quicker and the load times are a bit better for sure.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
So I guess the AR got buffed to make up for the 40mm nerf. Though I did feel the AR's were a bit lacking for a class who's purpose is to "assault"

Just played it.
SOME SERVERS HAVE NOT YET UPDATED i played 1 game but my stats were not saved so be careful.
OR do they only take stats now from RANKED servers???
havent tried assaulting yet. -
I thought they always only took stats for ranked servers, hnce the term, ranked. Otherwise you could easily improve your stats.
-
Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
Well i didnt even bother looking up if i was playing on ranked or unranked servers before.
I was just asking if they are now required. -
Yes, they are required and always have been afaik. When you use the server browser you can choose to filter by ranked. I always do that, because I never saw a point in playing on unranked if I don't get any stats updated. Although in my case it might not be such a bad thing.
I don't believe there's a way to check if the server is ranked or not unless you filter by ranked only.
-

Welll i have been playing in servers that i dont know if it is ranked or not. So i'll just try it out again.

This is from the Battlefield blog
"As requested by the community, here is the exhaustive all inclusive changelist of all balance updates made in the R10 Server update for PC.
Increased the base range of all Automatic and Semiautomatic weapons for more consistent close range combat.
Slightly increased the damage of Semiautomatic rifles over long range for more consistent damage output.

Increased the base damage of the Type88 LMG to balance it with other LMGs.
Slightly reduced the base damage of the M16 and G3 to balance the increased range.
Slightly increased the damage of the AEK971, F2000, AN94, and AUG over long range to balance them with other Assault Rifles.
Reduced the lethal blast range of the 40mm grenade and M2CG to highlight their role as a secondary weapon against infantry.
Slightly Reduced the max range of the 40mm shotgun to balance it with other shotguns.
Slightly increased the base damage of shotgun rounds and reduced their range to clarify ideal shotgun combat distance.
Reduced the base damage of the PP2000 to balance the increased range.

Increased the damage of the MP412 over long range to balance its low rate of fire.
Slightly reduced the rate of fire of the M1911 pistol to balance it with other pistols.
Increased the repair and overheat speeds of the Power Tool. Now overheats sooner but repairs the same amount before overheating.
Increased the maximum number of Motion Sensors that can be carried from 2 to 3 and increased the speed which new sensors are acquired from ammo boxes.
Significantly increased the speed of the Tracer Dart projectile to make it more effective against airborne targets.
Increased the reload time of the Mortar Strike and reduced the damage it does to heavily armored vehicles.
Decreased the range of Bolt Action Sniper and Pump Shotgun Slug rounds when using Magnum Ammo for better Kit Balance, especially in Hardcore.
Slightly increased the Health of soldiers in Hardcore for better Kit Balance.
Increased the benefit from the Medkit Heal+ specialization to make it more desirable as a Specialization.
Decreased the benefit from Vehicle Reload Speed to balance it against other Vehicle Specializations.
Slightly decreased the benefit from accuracy specializations to balance the changes to range and accuracy tweaks.
Fixed a bug where the BMD3 would take extra damage to the front armor.
Reduced the explosive damage from Attack Helicopter cannons.
Increased the damage of AA guns against all targets. The AA gun should be much more effective against infantry on Port Valdez.
These changes will eventually make their way to the 360 and PS3 as we work with our partners Microsoft and Sony to continue to support BFBC2 on all platforms.
With <3, Demize99."
It looks promising i'll try it the changes later
-
Only thing I DON'T like out of that list is reducing the rate of fire of the M1911 pistol. That's my fav. Always a good backup, or somewhat primary if I'm a sniper and in close quarters.
-
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I dont like a lot of it, especially reduction of range on the sniper rifle with magnum ammo. I mean common I have so many classes pick me off if I dont kill them in the first shot.
They increased the AN94 damage? It was like already the most damaging rifle other than the M16 if you landed all 3 shots.
They reduced armor damage with mortar? That was like its main role for me was to take out armor, now today I hit a tank head on and all I got was a vehicle damage rather than any kills or a destroy, Its already hard enough to hit an armor with mortars as they are usually moving or can drive out of the blast. -
Yeah I agree Vicious. We'll see how it all pans out. Mortar shouldn't have been touched and neither should have anything in recon.
-
Yeah 3 motion sensors is going to be a little too much. Also the tracer dart is way too easy to use now. last game i played i put a dart on every chopper that went airborne.
-
do we need to download anything or will the update automatically? I logged on but wasn't prompted for an update...?
-
i have the steam version and it auto updated the game, the download was around 500mb.......
P/S you will definitely know if its updated the moment you go into MP servers you will see a different lay out with some great new features like regions etc....much better and the ' add to favorites' seems to be working well now as well.
-
Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
Mortars now are GREAT Infantry killers good thing reload times have been increased to compensate.
Oh and they should fix the lag every time you respawn. Quite annoying.
I think Dart guns are now overpowered way too much. -
just played a few round and i disagree. Still see fools running around spamming noob tube. If they nerfed it i sure as hell cant tell.
-
Noob tube is the CG, unless you're calling the 40mm grenade launcher the noob tube.
-
no noticeable difference with the patch, IMO.
-
Thanks for the info. I purchased direct from EA using their EA Download Manager. To update your game using the EA Download Manager, run the manager, login, click on the "Play" button next to your game icon, and it'll check for updates. ...just in case someone didn't already know!
-
Yeah, the only thing I noticed was the server browser which is a welcom addition.
I have yet to survive a 40mm grenade or CG with the new patch, so that wasn't nerfed too much, nor was the M60. I got mowed down many times. Although I'm liking the M14 with the medic class. Great mid range gun with burst. -
Try using the tracer dart. I am sure you will notice a difference if you used it before the patch.
-
I still don't know how to use it.
I've been procrastinating on finding a how-to. -
You shoot it at a vehicle(mostly choppers) then aim at it with your rocket launcher till the red square stops blinking and the rocket will home in on the dart. It is really fun to do but has become too easy IMO.
-
What they really need to do is have Recon class able to lase the target for an engineer class, that way it would encourage teamwork, and make it a bit more difficult.
