Bad Company 2 Friends

This patch fixed all the hit detection/crashes for me.

 

I got more crashes today after patch. No BSOD but lots of CTD.

Some people say they cant tell a difference, I can tell a big difference post patch in gameplay. I was thinking it maybe because some of you were playing on old servers.

The update is two fold, a client update and a server update. Its possible I think that even after updating your client that you can still play on an old server.

I cant believe they nerfed sniper distance and mortors sniper was fine the way it was.

I suck with the M60 now too since I am a mobile medic, trying to help the team by keeping on the move, with the change now people are just going to be camping with the medic instead, they actually get a boost for camping since the added accuracy has been impemented.

So about mortars, I only used them on armor most of the time. Not often do I find a place I can use them on infantry because I would hit my own team, be left open trying to scan with it, or destroy a building or something that I need. I always had mortars available when I needed them, so now people are just going to spam them more often and it wont have any good use like against tanks :/

 

while we're at it, can someone explain to me what triggers a triangle to mark a target?

 

You mean pressing the "Q" key? It should put triangles above all targets within your direct line of site... usually. Sometimes I can press Q all day and it won't do anything. It doesn't work on Hardcore servers though.

 

You mean what button to press? The button is Q by default but i can be spamming Q on an enemy sometimes and it won't spot them.

So I have to press Q whenever I feel like I can identify an enemy?

What prevents someone from running a script that automatically hits Q all day long for easy detection?

 

It has a cooldown timer for one.

Another tool that is supposed to do this is the spotter scope for sniper but not once ever did it auto spot somebody for me.

 

Well you better start using them against infantry. They now have been more powerful as of late against infantry. Died a few times because of them.

 

I dont find too many oportunites like I said, I see 1 or 2 guys and I can shoot them now and kill them or I can try a mortor and maybe get shot or have them gone before it goes off.

The best situation I can think of is rush mode to ward off people from the stations. Good as an attacker but as a defender you may wreck the building and crush the MCOM.

 

Hmm something is wrong with the squad score of BC2. It is not updating.... That's good for me(because it means that i will always be at rank 50) BUT still would like it to be updated.

Mortar REALLY IS a Infantry killer. Everytime i see a recon use it 3 people die(or at least 1).

 

That damn Flag Defender (Defend 4 flags) Pin must be bugged. I defended at least 4 flags in a couple rounds and never got the pin!

 

Is the server browser messed up for anyone else? No matter what filters i put in i am only getting 2 servers to show up.

 

Worked fine for me earlier.

Did you update your game client? It would make sense if you did not and your seeing the few non updated servers.

 

I updated it and was finding over 5000 servers with my filters earlier. Don't know whats up with in now.

 

R10 has a major flaw when knifing a person standing idly. 2 times i knifed a player 3 times and he just keeps shooting. Although knife right now has been greatly improved aside from the glitch or bug that keeps happening when they're standing still.

 

Did it say "Defended Flag" when you killed them? I believe they have to be in the flag capture zone when you kill them to have it be considered a flag defense.

 

Also i think you must kill the all the persons taking the flag at a given time.

I mean if 2 people are taking it you must kill both for just 1 flag dense.

happened to me when i killed 2 guys and i got only 1 flag defense notifucation.

 

Yeah, I have gotten 4 messages saying "Flag Defend" in a round and still no pin.

 

Was it on a ranked server?

 

I dont know whether you guys are unlucky, but this patch is a large improvement for me anyways, while a lot of you seemed to be fine before the patch.

 

make sure your not under the "Favorite" tab or "history"

I you guys did not notice this BUT they changed 2 pins" requirements you only need 2 kills with sea vehicles and 3 kills for cars.

 

Noir, I got the Flag Defender pin... still says 4 Defends, but took me at least 6 to get it.

I played a bit this morning, working on getting pins/insignias for fun. No one else was on though!
Hopefully I will have time to play this weekend, but doubtful till Monday.

I got on about 12:30 last night and played until like 6AM with a couple of short breaks after crashes (I use crashes as my break timer lol)

Got some pretty good games in as a sniper, had 2 games that went bad. One game where it was 2 or 3 and they murdered us with a tank over and over and over. And another where a sniper on the enemy team got a headshot on my like 12x in a row out of nowhehere.

He never missed a shot. Atleast by the end of that game though I got my 2 kill 12 deaths up to 28 kills 20 deaths.

That tank game though... was like 18 deaths 2 kills.... probably should have dropped the game if I want to be concerned about my K/D ratio

 

Man Vicious you are tearing it up with BC2. Dirt 2 and your awesome driving setup must be collecting a bit of dust eh?

When DICE decides to take PC Gamers that made their BattleField series what is seriously and respect again, I'll give this game a try. From initial release through the patches, this game is just a disaster for casual players.

I think it's shameful that DICE refused to fix the ATi issue and ATi had to fix a problem that wasn't their fault. I've never had server issues with the HD5870 until BC2. No other game even close to these problems.

BC2 works on the tri-monitor setup.

I'll be a sad panda when I start playing Starcraft II though since it wont.

 

I think that was i am saying i needed 5 kills to get the pin because i killed 2 at the same time only counting them as 1.

I was in a server yesterday with both sides GOOD campers. I was somewhat frustrated that I am the only one pushing. I got 57-24 on that map with 4 Nemisis pins. Armed almost all mcomms by myself(good thing that those campers know how to defend the comm stations). it was on Arica harbor. I felt like Master Chief in that map.

 

Hey it's not BC2 but sort of related. I saw a leaked screenshot of BF3 and read some of the speculations.

BF3 will be using the same Frostbite engine, not Frostbite 2. So if you are enjoying good framerate with BC2, expect the same for BF3.

 

I think it read they will use Frostbite 3? BC2 uses Frostbite 2.5 just to see if the engine works well with PC since it was first used in consoles.

 

I don't want to start an argument, but Frostbite 2 very sure isn't out yet and still in development. Very sure Bad Company 2 is using Frostbite 1 and so will BF3 (Although I'm thinking it may be the upcoming BF 1943 PC release not BF3). BF3 maybe using Frostbite 2. Eh, don't know, as I said it was just speculation.

Frostbite 2 should be full DX11 support with Direct Compute and Tessellation emphasized.

According to Johan Anderson, Frostbite 1 which is used in BC2 ported some DX10.1 features to DX11 and only took DICE 3 hours to do so.

Also Medal of Honor coming this summer will be using Frostbite Engine 1 also, not the 2nd.

I set mine to horizontal 90 with 1920*1080, needed to change the default 55 to 59. Works out well.

The multi-player for Medal of Honor is being developed by DICE using the Frostbite Engine. Stop insulting me and telling me I'm wrong when I'm not. And Medal of Honor is just like MW2 and BC2 or any of it's competitors, these series are known for their multi-player.

 

He is right about MOH Multi is being developed with a collaboration with DICE.

BC2 uses 1.5 Frostbite Engine and Frostbite 2 will be used in BF3(not syre about BF3).

 

Just got my All vehicle bronze insignia and the 500 vehicle kills. It took me 7 days and 8 hours to get 500 vehicle kills ahahah long time.

Along with the 3 car kill and 2 sea vehicle pin ONLY 1 pin left!!!!

here's how i did it. in Isla Inocentes Use the PBLB and get to the island near point B when you are attacking. Hide behind the island and fire away.

This works BETTER if B is armed.

Ill probably use the UAV and try to get the roadkill pin which is the last pin missing.

My assault class is showing how much i dont use it LOL. I only have 200+ kills with assault rifles hahaha

Some Bad Company 2 players reporting better mouse control with render ahead limit. This is an option by default available in the Nvidia Control Panel. This is not available for ATi Control Center, for whatever stupid reasons they may have, probably just laziness.

So... ATi Mobile Users this is still possible

When you install ATT, you need to go through the install setup slowly. Make sure you disable Overclock and disable Overdrive. If you don't do this, you will have immediate BSOD every time ATT loads (at least for me, confirmed by another G73 user and a HD5650M user).

Now that you have ATT installed and working awesome, reason why I did it, I want Flip Queue Size. This is what controls how many frames your GPU queues up. This is the same as Pre-Rendered Frames in Nvidia which is awesome. Set it to 2 or 3 and your BC2 mouse should be a little better.

Also this should eliminate if you have any stuttering even though you have high FPS.

An added bonus you can enable high quality AF with ATT that isn't available in CCC for some reason. Again probably laziness?
