i found it odd that 2142 has more votes than bf2 because usually bf2 is way more popular due to the amount of people that play online and the fact that its more realistic...

if you can talk me into getting 2142 i will salute u and i will purchase it.. but i'd like to know WHY 2142 is better than bf2 and WHY more people play b2 than 2142

 

LOL I'll go buy BF2 if you can tell me whats better than 2142. I've always been a fan of mech games and when i saw the intro movie i made up my mind between the two.

Ok, so, Battlefield 2 is realistic than 2142...well, that's because it's associated with modern warfare( as of the year 2000-2007+).

Battlefield 2142 is very popular because

1.) It is unique compared to other games, takes place in the future.

2.) Even though this is a sort of sci-fi game, there ARE no laser guns or anything. The AA guns from the ground fire static rounds and so do the Anti Tank stationary guns. They fire static rounds( therefore Static Ground Defense).

3.) MORE UNLOCKS!!! Definitely more unlocks than Battlefield 2. And, no one has the standard grenades anymore, so no more grenade spam like at strike at karkand. You have to UNLOCK the grenades if you want them. Or, you can use field upgrades. Also, have you ever wanted to try an item, but not wasting a precious unlock point to regret getting a certain unlock? Well, thanks to squads, if you follow your squad leader's commands, and you perform, you get a squad member assist bonus, and, you get credit towards to being issued a field upgrade. When you get a field upgrade, bring up the menu, select the unlock you desire( it can't be instantneous, has to be in a certain order. Ex: Clark 15B shotgun is one main unlock, followed by a pulse meter, advanced ammo hub, and IPS shield. If you don't have any unlocks towards the Clark 15B shotgun, then, your unlock towards that tree is the IPS shield. Once you unlock the IPS shield by spending your unlock point, then the next field upgrade will be the advanced ammo hub, and so on.)

4.) New vehicles, such as hover tank, battlewalker, and gunship. Seriously now, would you like to try driving a hover tank?? What an experience, and a personal favorite of mine, .

Battlewalkers are interesting, they are a new concept in vehicle design, mainly for anti infantry, but packs a punch against tanks. You don't exactly know where to aim for their weak point either. However, their weakpoint is their vents under the battlewalker.

Gunships are a unique design. Think of the jet from battlefield 2 and the attack helicopter in BF 2 as well combined as one!! Very unique and very fun as well.

5.) Ranking system is a lot better. The awards you get are now instantaneous . Oh, and after you get promoted, you can immediately choose your unlocks WITHOUT DISCONNECTING OR LOGGING OUT. They show up after the round is over. Badges, ribbons, and pins now count for points now, so ranking is much easier, and is very desirable as well. medals do not contribute to points, but they show much interest in personal and showing off your achievements.

6.) More team coordinated. In the Titan mode, teamwork is pretty essential, and squading up is a good thing to do.

7.) I'll post more if I can think of anything else.

nice job ghost recon in trying to convince me - im getting there... just a few questions..

1.)how much does this game cost?
2.)how does it compare with people that play on the servers to bf2? (i know bf2 is way more populated than 2142 but by how much?)
3.)is 2142 64 players?
4.)and most of all ... IS THIS GAME ANYTHING LIKE HALO 2 ::SHREEKS::? how "unreal" is it in terms of war play.. (if that makes any sense) - i basically get turned off by all this jumping around like a robot on steroids :cough:: halo 2 ::cough:

note: ghost recon - do you play ghost recon 2? ;p

Answers to your questions.

1.) It is now ONLY $30
2.) 48 and 64 players are COMMON on all servers.
3.) yes, 2142 has 64 players, mostly for conquests, and sometimes 60 players for Titan mode.
4.) It is NOT like Halo 2. DEFINITELY NOT. You can bunnyhop in Battlefield 2142 by using the RDX Demopaks(like the BF 2 C4 bomb), except, it has to be friendly fire off.

Turn friendly fire on if you want a real experience like Battlefield 2, where friendly fire is turned on most of the time.

Also, annoying claymores in BF 2 by friendly fire? FEAR NO MORE!!!

The APM mine( Anti personal mine) in battlefield 2142 is a smart guy. It will only blow up the enemy, HOWEVER, if you're behind the enemy, and the APM goes off, it will kill both the enemy and YOU.


Note: I do not play the Ghost Recon series. I am NOT a fan of that series. I'm only Ghost_Recon23 through Battlefields 2 and 2142.

Why?

1.) I'm hard to find and kill in Battlefield 2 while sniping
2.) No one knows where I am in Battlefield 2142 while sneaking up for their dogtags
3.) It's an awesome name.

IIM3 and I play together in 2142, and boy, he ate my RDX kills.. Isn't that right IIIM3? I have screenies too.


Oh, if you want my dogtag, you'll have one hell of a time, i'm a dogtag collector myself.

I'm really into collecting tags, i think its much more enjoyable to take people down with a spread of bullets.

hmmm.. i was plannign on buying CoD2 for a flashback WWII game, now i might just get 2142 instead (or both).. i wish i could get a damn discount on these games. all these games i play online it's hard to decide what to play - i love ghost recon 2 because it is so much more realistic and tactical than the battlefield series.. after playing graw2 and going to bf, it feels like bf is an arcade.. but i won't hate, i LOVE bf, and maybe i may get 2142....

i guess i'll have to see how my money is considering i wanted to buy CoD2 and MoH:A this weekend...

 

Don't get MoH:A, it got a bad review from gamespot, lol.

They said multiplayer was great, and the last 2 levels of the MoH:AA is superb.

THe other levels are boring according to them.

 

well the only reason i'd buy airborn is for the multiplayer - i never really get into the single player war games for some reason... so if multiplayer is great, it'd prolly be a great buy for me hehe..

also - is 2142 a lot more demanding in terms of graphics than bf2?

 

Its a giant ship that each team gets. Main objective of titan mode is to destroy opposing teams titan and there are several ways to do it. Its not a very hard concept to pick up and its a lot of fun, but team work is very much required. As for graphics, low settings worked fine on my old dell single core with a Fx5200 >.> and thats pretty old....

 

Titan is a massive floating warship. The graphics are slightly better than BF 2, and it has a smoother engine.

yup, from what everyone tells me conquest mode is pretty much the same as BF2

Yeah, IIIM3 and I talk a lot. He uses vista.

You get to talk in game while you play. So I could say hi to you while i'm playing battlefield 2142.

 

Also, titan mode, it's easy to get points.

You have to destroy 4 consoles which protect each other and the titan core. Once 4 consoles are destroyed, rush in, and destroy the core inside, and you have less than 10 seconds to hightail your can out of there.

 

Other option is to keep control of the missile silo's and they take the titan down for you, but thats the really long way to do it.
