Suprisingly i had a lot of fun playing recon this weekend, really for the first time. I usually only play for 10 or so minutes until i get bored with it

Unlocked the JNG-90 and got a service star with it.

I can only really snipe in team dm. So many heads to shoot at in such a small map!

 

True. Many times the pilot won't flare at all and I'm They should just increase time between flares, or better yet, just have same flare timing but either the pilot or gunner can set it off and takes same amount of time to reset. That way if your pilot is too stupid or distracted to flare, at least gunner can do it.

Stingers ignore Below Radar.
I'm going to figure out if it does the the other thing cause I'm seeing reports about it.

Typically, I would lay down the ECM, I'd get locked onto again, and my gunner wouldn't deploy flares -__- It's probably that my gunners always puss out and release flares first for some reason.

Isn't Below Radar a permanent upgrade? Battlelog and the post-game screen had me confused about "permanent" upgrades even though you have to actually equip them in-game.

Hey guys quick question. I bought the limited edition of BF3 at launch and never downloaded the Back to Karkland expansion pack. I just went to my email and the links I had seem dead. Go to a 2px x 2px pic of nothing. Did I wait to long? Life has been to busy for me to play the last several months

Also, is the NBR Server we started still up? My guess is no but worth a shot. Where do you guys play? I loved playing with NBR Peeps, even though I sucked bigtime

 

Just email support. As long as you have the email, you should be fine.

Mine didn't work either until I repaired in origin. Kept saying bf3 stopped responding.

I am not able to play.When I click server I got message "You need to install the game first."
What? my game is installed.
Than I click "open game menager" and I see message "game installing" but nothing happen.

 

Right click the game icon and choose "repair installation"

 

^ Yeah, I have to do that also. Somehow the "update" broke BF3 instead just updating it.

 

What is the original language of your BF3 install?

English, why?

 

That is the most common crashing problem when people were using different language version and forcing it to use a different language. Even worse, on a machine who default language is different.

But yours just crash on only rush/coop so I don't have any idea.
Try deleting/move your BF3 settings in your Document folder.

I haven't touched anything...... but I tried to delete the BF3 settings and it got fixed! Thank you very much

 

Today was terrible. I have no issue with people who are really good pilots (hi, Falco), but I didn't realize today was "Complete And Utter Base Day." I've always thought that the jets were slightly overpowered, but I can't even counteract them with the attack chopper anymore. Two lock-on tones from anyone on the map and you're pretty much screwed.

It's sad how a video game can make me angry like this -__-

 

But my OS is set to english and my BF3 originally installed in english @_@

Oh, and how the heck are you supposed to know what caliber bullet can penetrate what type of armor or glass? I got sniped from a scout helicopter with a semi-automatic and just laughed. It's like how you can destroy an anti-tank mine with a .338 from the M98B, but a .50cal HMG (on the tank) does nothing whatsoever.

I understand realism vs. playability, but sometimes things just seem backwards as hell to me

 

You can snipe people out of choppers with anything...

 

I was thinking the same thing. You know you have to sacrifice some realism for balance and fun. But sometimes the balance doesn't even make sense with regards to the weapon. Like an AA gun taking 100 shots to kill an infantry. Like really?

Another thing that's minor but bugs me is that you get 10 points (I know, whoopdedoo) if you blow up a mine, but none if you disarm it as an engineer.

I don't believe you can out of an attack chopper (i.e. BF3 viper) but you can out of a scout or transport. Although did the scout choppers get more robust? I nailed one with two heat seekers and a myriad of bullets and it was disabled and smoking but still not dead. They were able to land and escape.

 

Do we have an NBR platoon?

 

From the patch notes:
"The Laser Designator unlock on the Scout Helicopters has been changed from a Pilot Upgrade to a new stance in the Copilot seat (position 4). Like the CITV turret on the Main Battle Tanks, the Scout Helicopter’s Laser Designator is permanently available to players who have received the unlock."

Does anyone know how to enable this? When I get in the scout's front passenger seat there are no controls, nothing to aim. (I have all chopper unlocks (attack and scout).

See, I didn't know that an engineer could disable enemy mines. How the hell are we supposed to know this? -__-

A 9mm pistol? I'm OK with the game as a whole, but come on. If anything near that caliber can penetrate a canopy then the choppers/jets are made of paper mache.

All you have to do is to sit there and look pretty. You have no additional control, it would work like it used to.

Would of preferred, if they made it such that the 4th guy look through a screen to make it obvious that that works and not bored out of their minds.

 

Got a day full of crashes today (about ten in 3 hours). Firstly it repaired itself, then it updated, then redownloaded the whole game, then the crashes begin.
I have the patched russian version (it was cheaper), do you know any fix to stop the dreaded crashes?

 

I've been experiencing crashes the same way you do mi3x. Tried repairing and patching again + deleting preferences.

None of the methods work.

Mine never crashed before the patch, so it's not the drivers then. Waiting for a new patch or a solution.

 

This has thrown me off a lot:

Changed reload behavior on Tank / Tank Destroyer cannon weapons to prevent being able to fire 2 shots from different weapons quickly one right after another.

It was great to be able to shoot the main gun then switch to the canister shells and fire. But now it's very slow reload.

And also this:

FIM92 and IGLA now lock on to air vehicles at both lower altitudes and longer distances.

This does not seem to be true at all. If anything I can actually evade a lock by running nap of earth. Before I couldn't evade a lock no matter what. Now it's easy to just skirt the ground and they lose lock. I also noticed I can't lock on to choppers hovering probably < 10m above the ground.

I finally got a jet gun kill against a 100 rank player that was pwning the air. I managed to sneak up behind him and despite his best efforts couldn't evade me. Quick switch to heat seekers and lock and fire from right behind him didn't give time flare, followed by a blaze of guns... BOOM, dead. Granted the other jet and chopper were pestering him a lot at the same time and I think the mobile AA was picking away at him too. I find flying near the ceiling (< 950m) to get a good assessment works decently well, then hit and run back up to the sky. Still need a lot of work too. Can only rarely disable tanks, and getting any kills against other jets or infantry even is damn near impossible. Seems I can have guns blazing against an infantry with X's galore and they don't die.

The other thing is text box language filter... lol. I've received warnings for saying a "bad word" on some servers yet I hear the "F" word thrown about like crazy... whatever.

 

At least the chat function isn't as bad as HALO lol

The stinger altitude lock is for that it can lock the AC130, so this buff doesn't not affect jets much.

However, for helos, I'm able to lock them at 0m ie touching the ground and below radar alt as long you are still within the firing distance.

There is a procedure to dodge stingers without using countermeasure for helo's.

Also, jets seem to have seem to reverted back 1.04 state and the F35 gone from ok to pretty bad.

 

I can never lock on to a chopper even if they're 20m in front of me below a certain altitude. I can have solid lock then it loses tone completely after they drop below a certain altitude... every time.

What procedure to evade stingers in the helo though?

 

When fired, drop fast down get close to the ground, and turn to the side.
The stinger will hit the ground or blow up near the tail.

Takes alot of practice to do it well. You're going to hit the ground very often.

Works really well on scouts and ok on attacks helo.

Also, a nifty trick with Air Radar, that there is an indicator that tells you if your Below Radar perk is working or not.

 

Damn, it's so frustrationg, lately I cannot get to the end of a round without a crash. Any suggestions guys? Should I reinstall it clean again? It NEVER crashed before the patch, but I also replaced the drivers during that period. Searched the webs for the nvwgf2um.dll crash, it's full of it, but no workaround for me. So sad!

EDIT: Goddommot, I crashed in a server 3 times and the 4th time I wasn't even in game D:<

 

Try using an older Nvidia Driver?
Also, you can ask an EA rep to change the language on your BF3, so you don't have to patch it every time there is a patch.

Also, I can't believe that overlooked the laser designator of the scout. But hitting 2 or F would activate the designator.

 

try doing the repair install?

 

No no, my OS is already set to American English and the Game installs in the same language. This happened with 304.79 also

No errors detected, but I'm still crashing
