Man FXAA (through NVIDIA inspector) + 16xQ CSAA (through NVIDIA panel) + Ultra settings makes BF3 look real beautiful.

Performance does take a big hit on the GTX680M even OC'd though, 39-60 FPS (v-sync) @854/2200 on the GTX680M. Probably need Core 900+ to maintain just the average 60FPS.

 

Tried an earlier driver to no avail. Guess my only chance will be a clean reinstall, but it's not guaranteed to work.

Also I did a repair install, no error founds.

As for changing the language, can this be done? I have the russian version. That would be awesome not having to patch it every time a new update rolles out... but who do I talk to?

 

I can only run everything on ultra if I turn the resolution down 6970M lol

 

Then stick to very high or whatever the option right before Ultra is.. There is little difference between the two in multiplayer, possibly only in campaign. Either that, or toggle shadows down, turn off AA, minimize AF and all should be well at your native resolution. Happy gaming!

The snow mountain map is gorgeous. And the desert map touted as largest map in BF history doesn't feel that big for some reason.

 

Been playing on normal preset for AK, I have a very pleasant experience.
Even on the 64 man, though I'm forced to play pretty defensively while on the Heli.

Also, first time I been constantly shot out by tanks while flying the jet. (Too many good tankers )

Not many people know that the mobile artillery can double as a mobile AA.

 

I don't like it. If you're not in a vehicle, it's no fun. So being below average while in vehicle makes for a long frustrating game. I played AK for 10 minutes then went back to the regular maps

 

Well, I wasn't alone. I had 10 friends on teamspeak(4 from NBR) with me so the 64 man was tolerable.

The ceiling cap seem to be 1200, so you can fly above the clouds. I wish I knew this earlier. This make mobile AA much easier to kill

I'd have to agree. I'm terrible in anything that flies and below average in anything with wheels. The maps are so large that being without a vehicle is almost a death sentence. The 2 hours of AK I played last night were the least fun I've had playing bf3 in a while.

 

Thoughts so far:

Bandar Desert: Definitely feels huge. Flat and open = awesome. Can't wait to snipe on that sucker. Had a field day with mobile anti-air and (soon) mobile artillery.
Alborz Mountains: F*cking beautiful. Seems to be the go-to map, sadly. It's OK.
Armored Shield: Reminded me of "Heavy Metal" from Bad Company (never played those games, but I think I'm right). Absolutely gorgeous map, but definitely not my favorite, either.
Death Valley: Sadly, have yet to play it. Seems to be the outcast of the four maps (which means it's probably really, really good with my luck).

Tank destroyers are pretty sweet, as well. Only downside is how easy it seems for air assets to take you out if even one SOFLAM is up. That, and apparently mobile AA can take you out -__-

Also seems that the tank destroyers have a greater angle of fire than a tank does. I've shot a couple choppers down thus far, but these Level 100's or just really good tank drivers do it on the regular. It's insane.

And then there's the gunship... One main cannon and one heavy machine gun? Lame. It's also pretty weak. Really want an overhead view of it releasing flares, though

 

The gunship has 2 positions and I've gotten a lot of kills in both. Agreed on all your other points though.

Tank superiority mode is garbage right now. All matches that I have been in have featured half of opponent team filled with soflams and javelins where you get locked on as soon as you move 50 feet away from spawn point. Getting in a tank actually means quick death in this mode. Not that much fun.

 

Totally forgot about that extra mode. I really want to try out Death Valley and then I'll give Tank Superiority mode a go on Bandar Desert.

 

Ok found the culprit for my crashes in BF3. I tried everything in my 680m, reinstalled the game twice, tried alot of drivers, including the newest 306.23, all failed. I found the modded 304.79 being the only driver which does not crash my game with no performace impact. I'm very happy!

 

That airship makes for easy kills... Anywhere on the right side, top, back, bottom or front is target practice...

Then you were on a map with zero opposing talent. You can take down those gunships pretty easily with AA, tanks, stingers, or jets. Heck multiple times it was shot down by a scout chopper. Flares take a long time to reload, so if you're on target can usually get off two sets of missiles or stingers before they recharge again.

 

I agree. I guess my post wasn't as clear as it could be.

I meant easy kills, as in easy to shoot down. If you looked at the battlelog you'd see:

A. Their team stunk (even though they won)
B. All of my kills came from a jet

I don't understand why people don't bail earlier in the Airship. It usually takes two passes with a jet to take it down, so they have plenty of time to jump ship between passes.

im certainly not gong to read through 599 pages of posts to find out but how many are having regular crashes with B3 no matter what drivers you try.
everyone else is running on the spot for about 5-10 seconds but im still moving until the game just closes. i might get one full game a day but every other one crashes. at least i dont lose the scores as they are added to my total the next time i join a game.

 

Well, the game crashes each and every time with me as well. As soon as I am done with MP and quit, the game crashes. Im glad that it save the stats so I guess its a non issue for me.

 

Been a issue for me for quite some time, same things happens with Just Cause 2 and LoL for some reason, but yeah

 

I don't have any crashing issues on any of my systems.

I feel ya bro, some of my favorite servers switched to AK or CQ based maps, and I can't join ._.

 

Likewise. One of the only few (and my favourite) servers in India with <100ms ping for me shifted to AK maps only. :/

 

If I knew you could buy each DLC sep. I wouldn't have bought premium.

I play a lot, usually later at night Eastern time. Please add 'narsnail', I am a pretty good chopper pilot so if anyone guns and is half decent let me know.

Which brought me to realize it doesn't even make sense to buy Premium with all the high ping on every server! If I did, I'd only be spending most of my time finding a server with a game I want, as close to me as possible and one that doesn't kick me for high ping!

All Battlefield titles on sale for $10 today! Just downloaded BF3. Have been a long time BF3 console player, but I figure now I have a decent enough laptop I might as well try it out on PC.

 

I just downloaded a copy for my daughter (so she doesn't have to play my copy). I also downloaded an extra copy, in case my other daughter wants to learn. Can't beat it for $10 each. I'm not going to touch DLC for those copies, though.

 

I feel this is common during the exclusive AK weeks when there are a number of very experienced jet pilots on a single server shooting me out of the cockpit and then stealing it mid flight.

 

You have to get very lucky to shoot someone while falling like that. The aim was all over the place yet it still gave him the kill.

 

Getting random crashes now with latest nVidia drivers. Reverting back to 302.92, seems to be most stable.

I also find the M1128 is completely OP! Requires a ton of hits to destroy, but it can deliver a huge punch against anything really. Shot one six times with a tank and twice with RPG and still wasn't even disabled. All the hits were primarily to the front, but still. I never noticed an engineer there fixing it either. Regardless it was a bunch of simultaneous hits.

 

can someone be this good with the knife? he was running around the map, knifing people left and right while being hit and suppressed. he would run towards you, and before he'd reach, his knife would magically connect with your throat! it was very frustrating.

i've been knifed before a thousand times (by lower- and higher-rank people alike), and while it's frustrating and shows you're not paying attention to your surroundings, it was never like this. i know he has a lot of hours in the game, and all his states seems legit, but the way he was knifing his way through the map was very weird.

 

I was having weird issue after the patch.
