not played rush so will check it out.
getting owned could well be down to me being partially blind though so my reaction time is a lot slower.
-
-
I play Rush a lot, probably 8/10 games on all maps, even the larger ones - it's fun.
-
So Battlefield 3 is a definite buy then? Or would people recommened a different game? Like Skyrim/Dishonoured/COD?
I've been out of the PC gaming scene for about a year and trying to find a good game by reading reviews is impossible!
By the way, my internet speed isn't particularly great, it manages though. -
BLops 2 doesn't have dedicated server
Skyrim is single player only
BF3's campaign is much better and more believable than any COD
Battlelog and it's dedicated server is far more reliable compared to what BLops has
If you don't mind some bugs and occasionally getting shot behind cover. BF3 premium edition is a very good deal. -
youve also got to get crysis and crysis 2 as they were only £/$5 each the other day on origin i think.
-
if you're just getting bf3 now, might as well wait a couple more months for BF4
-
Couple months? BF4 is expected to release at the end of October.
-
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
Yea, Battlefield 4 is a ways off.
I'd buy Battlefield 3 Premium Edition and get in on the carnage!!
I personally Always a tough time to decide weather to play planetside 2 or BF3. Both are great and very adicting games -
Placing an order within the week for BF3 then! You've all twisted my leg towards it!
I already have Crysis and LOVE the multiplayer on that! So if it turns out to be a more realistic version of Crysis multiplayer I will be a very happy boy!
On the note of multiplayer, has anybody had any exposure to Internet tethering from let's say an iPhone purely for there online gaming needs? Internet at home is at BEST 0.1mbps download.
Living in the sticks may be pretty, but the Internet is crappy! -
I'll use my Droid Razr Maxx hot spot for playing bf3 and aside from occasional lag spikes and a few servers that aren't in the green ping compared to my home network, it works fine. I do have 4G which is much, much better compared to my old 3G hotspot (Verizon if anyone wondered).
-
invest to a good internet service provider... won't be fun playing this game when you have lag spikes and delays and everybody around you have less than 100 ping. Anything over 100 ping might as well play singleplayer...
-
Quickly... what are the best mobile geforce drivers for this game?
-
the recent one from nvidia website...
-
To add to that, ping and jitter are much more important than bandwidth too. If all you can get is 1.5Mbps with low ping and jitter you're golden. My measurement showed at most it transfers 200MB/hour which is only roughly 56KB/sec. So speed isn't all that critical.

Let's say I'm playing on Metro (not outside) and I have a scope on my gun (not the red dot or the holographic) and I aim down the sights... I lose 30 fps!! I generally have a steady 55-60 fps but aiming down the sights literally brings me down to 28. I am using the latest nvidia drivers. Is this because I am on Windows 8?
i5 3210 @ 3 ghz
8gb ram
gtx 660m
edit: turned dxdefferedpath to 1 -
dxdeferredpath at 0 offers best improvement.
And the i5 is what is your biggest crippling factor in BF3. BF3 loves quad core (or more) CPU's. -
I thought i5 is quad core.
-
Desktop i5 yes, laptops no
-
So I was getting a bit tired of BF3 and I figured since I play the close quarters expansion most often, I figured I would give COD black ops 2 a try.... Wow what a mistake and waste of $60. Having never played a COD game before I was expecting more. That game has nothing on BF3 IMHO. Back to BF3 I guess...
-
try crysis 3 on beta free until the 12th feb. 2 maps and great gameplay. all you need is origin and its in demo tab.
knocks blopsII for six. -
-
End Game comes out in March, correct? I bought BF3 Premium, so it should be included at no additional cost.
-
Zombies is CoD's only redeeming quality, I think. Sucky thing is, with 2-4 people sh*t gets laggy real quick. Unless it was the fact that we were playing on the original Xbox 360 and not a newer one (though I doubt they would have added anything other than hard drive capacity to the newer models).
Read this before, too. Just to clarify, does this mean that they'll be releasing a Battlefield every year now? Like a GD sports game?
I just started playing BF3 again after a month or so and I think I'm about to quit. End Game cannot possibly bring me back (although it will bring new bugs that won't get fixed) and after that... who knows.
EDIT: Random: I think I might be done with games that use client-side hit detection. I'm not really sure how you tell in-game, but I believe BF3 was my first and it will be my last. -
Battlefield goes annual? Remove nu and that's more like it, because that's how they're sticking it to you. This just means it will be buying the same game year in and year out more or less, while buying it again year after year and then hitting you up with two or three add-ons throughout the year in addition. EA is officially run by bean counters now, nothing more. This also means no user mod support ever, no map editors, no nothing. What's next? Making it into a browser game? BattleFarm 12: Cows revenge.
Meh, so long gaming world. There's little to get excited about anymore. Everything is so mechanical, so predicable. No creativity. -
Got the game yesterday. Played the campaing in less than 1 day
Was a little on the short side if you ask me. I find it a pitty that there are no single player maps like in COD MW2. I am a little disapointed so far with the game.
-
BF3 is not for single-player. Go online and kick some a**, it's like a whole new game.
-
After not having played in a month or so and trying to get back into it, I just can't. I've reached this whole new level of frustration. Even tried Hardcore mode and I really liked it, but it was still "too much." I would have loved the base game to be a mix of Hardcore and Normal modes, but that time has loooong passed.
Things are adding up. Level 100's in every server, I keep finding new bugs/glitches, and I keep learning new things like how scout choppers aren't protected by "Below Radar" if locked onto. Oh, and flares don't work when you're flying or on the ground.
Random stuff, but I'm surprised it took me this long to get pissed off. -
Agreed. Campaign is decent but short, but Battlefield is about multiplayer. Although I wouldn't mind a much longer more involved campaign as well.
Yeah still lots of bugs/glitches. One I hate is that I can't get lock on a chopper from another chopper or jet even if it hasn't flared and I'm only like 50 feet from them, yet they can lock on to me. Or when I can still get locked onto even when I smoke and get nailed by like 3 Javelins and I know I smoked at the right time. Running over people and all they do is bounce off my vehicle. Shooting them with a full magazine point blank and seeing them bounce around as I hit them and then I run out of bullets and they only have like 50% damage, knifing only works in specific instances otherwise you might as well be carrying a butter knife... the list goes on. -
Just rented a BF3 server. There aren't any players yet, but if you're interested search "ultimate gaming" in the filter.
Edit: Closed the one in Chicago, plan to get another up ASAP. -
Good luck with that. Myself and another NBR member (forgot his name, oops, old man syndrome I guess) started a server here for NBR players and only got populated about two days. It takes a lot of dedication to admin and get users that you know to play regularly to get it to show in the search.
-
I didn't have a system that was capable of playing bf3 until like the last month. I find it extremely hard to get into the game when everyone already has every unlock possible and it turns into a crazy spam match. Or with jets or tanks, etc. I'm just not competitive because i don't have any unlocks. I like the game, but i only have the base game with none of the addons and i don't think i'll be buying them since you guys are already talking about another one coming out.
-
I PM you a stat padding server
-
Yea, they announced Battlefield will be released annually so I'm done with the game now. The saddest part, for me, is that I bought BF2: Complete Collection 2-3 years after BF2 was released and fell in love. A handful of years later I pre-order BF3 expecting something similar, and it starts off pretty good, but then progressively gets worse. I have never been so disappointed by a video game in my life. Even worse, I want to keep playing because I spent all that money on it, but at the same time I don't.
It also feels like I'm a newbie again. I'm doing terrible in almost every round now. One round consisted of the opposition having 3 Level 100 Colonels all with pings above 70 and myself with a ping of <10. Couldn't touch 'em. Not to mention that barely any servers are aimed at noobs (or people, like myself, just trying to get back into the game) and those that are get flooded with players with too much time on their hands.

in that case, you should not play in the front line. play as an assault class soldier, stay behind your teammates (let them get shot first!), spot the enemy soldiers and vehicles, and, of course, shoot (to kill or to provide suppressive fire)...drop medkits constantly to heal your teammates and yourself and also revive (a revive is equivalent of a kill in terms of points). i can't stress this enough...revive and spot. you will rank up pretty quickly doing that and will get a lot of unlocks. leave the recon class for later times. and if you want to be more adventurous, maybe play as an engineer class soldier and RPG the hell out of tanks. -

maybe they were using aimbots? have you checked their stats later? i was never good to begin with (i'm playing with an Xbox 360 controller and a mouse, rather than a keyboard and a mouse, so my reaction time is slower than a usual PC player, but i can hold my own in most games. i also think how one plays in a game depends on the teammates as well. do you play on random servers usually?
this is the server i'm usually playing on; it has active admins too.

Yea i tried that server
While using helicopter I always get shot by the 100 star colonel in a tank -
I was hoping for some single player maps as well. Actualy i am not in FPS´s and the only one a played was COD MW2 with friends quite a bit. I really liked that game with the single player maps. Was just looking around at online last night, seems good fun as well.. Think i´ll do the campaign again first on normal.
I was playing on easy but that was really really easy (even tho i am not that into fps)
-
I just have a(n extremely) hard time attempting to fathom THOUSANDS of hours put into this game. It boggles the mind. Some of these people are close to 6 months of straight play time.
-
Play on 24- players server
You can have better ping and deal with less suppression that way -

I agree. Play as a support role for a while, don't worry about racking up kills. I've frequently led the leaderboards in games while having 2-15 k/d but I was supporting my teammates the whole time and helping cap flags. Assault class is a good way to get into the game, heck Support class too. Engineer in tank heavy maps, just ride along and repair and shoot everything in sight. Just don't shoot haplessly, especially if it looks like the driver is trying to make a surprise approach. Nothing irritates me more than a Rambo gunner in my tank. Just stay on the heels of your squad mates with med or ammo packs or as engineer like I stated. You'll learn a few things that way too.
You will die... a lot, at first. But I can see how it would be frustrating now considering all the veteran players. And yes, you really have to play regularly too unfortunately to keep up your "skills". I've taken some breaks, like several weeks off which isn't much and am a bit rusty when I get in.
Battlefield 3 is like the annoying girlfriend. She's cute and teases you enough keep you excited and string you along, but lets you down in the end.
Come on now. That's not what they're saying. And there are lots of players in there that have like 2000+ hours in the game. That's like two and a half months of 24 hour days online! The game has been out about 15 months, which means over 30 hours a week playing. So they clearly have no life. I have about 400 hours and I think I play a lot, but that averages to about 6 hours a week or less than an hour a day.
The other thing that irks me are the air hogs. I mean the 100 ranks that sit in the chopper all day sniping from a distance (which a lot of times is questionable, bullet kill to infantry from across the map?) even though their team is losing and needs more ground assault to cap flags. -
That first line was golden.
And see my post from the last page. Some of these people have close to 4000 hours logged already. Roughly 5 1/2 months of straight gameplay. The game's been out for ~15. Assume an average 7 hours of sleep and in the span since the game was released these people are playing BF3 and sleeping 8.3 months out of 15. What. The. F***.
Sometimes I just wish servers had rank caps (e.g. can only play on server if < Colonel 20) which I've seen a lot of games do (free-to-play ones, especially). EA made Premium exclude members from aspects of the game, what's one more... -
I actually picked up on that the only way i would be a help to anyone is playing as assault and throwing my medkits down and healing etc and that's where i've gotten most of my points so that's mostly how i've been playing. Coming from the highest levels of competitive counterstrike i guess it just gets old healing everyone all the time lol. I guess i'll just keep at it until i unlock more.

all you need to be a killing machine in this game is an M16A3 + Kobra sights, and a low ping, of course, so you don't get shot down while behind the cover
-
Actually, it's the other way around. You need a high ping so the server prefers you over someone with a lower ping -__- I average 10 compared to the 50-90 and even 200-300 that I see people play with on US servers. Absolutely ridiculous. It's actually a detriment to the game.
-
Yeah high ping players are like ghosts. It seems to favor them. You have to guess where they are in real time not where they're at on your screen. That's when I just RPG or use a tank shell to kill them because accuracy doesn't matter. Kinda like the Indiana Jones scene where he shoots the guy who brought a knife to a gun fight, lol.

I've started playing Hardcore mode almost exclusively and it seems to make the game a bit more enjoyable. Wish there were more hardcore only servers.
