Whats the best bolt action sniper rifle these days? I'm trying to upgrade at least one of them.

On the base game, the long range heavy hitter is the M98B with 12x/SPB/Laser, while the medium range is either the SV98 or the M40A5 w/ SPB+Laser, 12x or 8x an option.

The M98B wins at damage over range and slow bullet drop and slowest reload+cycle time, the SV98 has the highest RPM and shorter reload but has a low damage and an average ballistic capability. The M40A5 balances this two.

Or you can go with the JNG-90 to replace the M40A5.

    Personally I would use the M98B (12x/SPB/Laser) paired with a G18 supp :D

Hey, I'm not ashamed to admit it. Now, I don't use that as an excuse every time I play the game, but there are a lot of people who have 1500-2000 hours into this game (the 4000 hour example I used was for the "Global Leaders" in hours played while most Colonel 100s put in 1500-2000+ hours). I have a hard time wrapping my head around that, but that's just me...

Now I don't know how much a server costs or what kind of internet is needed to host one (or if a "server" is actually people just bouncing off your internet, I really have no idea), but EA/DICE can implement all of these features for "balanced gameplay," but they decide to leave out voice communication for the teamwork they tote was so crucial and even servers for newer players like ehancock.

Oh look, more reasons I'm done with EA. I honestly thought this game would have lasted me 2-3 years like BF2 did... As much as I said Planetside 2 was a huge time sinkhole I might just go back to it. I hear there's supposed to be a huge update (that was supposed to be in late January) and that developer actually takes major renovations into mind (not just 'gun tweaks').

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll try this one out. One question though, how come you recommend the laser? Wouldn't that give your position away?

You can bind a key (by default T) to turn off flash light and laser

Laser sight is recommended to be ON when not sniping, since it tightens the non-ADS spread

Also, might take the explosive crossbow just in case.

    Wait what?

Even the laser or light is off, everyone can still see you cause of the glint beyond the 4x scopes.

Especially on dark maps with no light sources :p

i just realized something about the hit detection vs smoothless of the movements. i was hiding in a corner in a building when suddenly an enemy soldier popped in from the door and literally got teleported super fast for like 10 meters in front of me. i could only land two hits on him and he killed me. then i looked at my network interpolation option (is that what it's called?) and realized i had set it all the way to the left (that it at 0%). so i increased it to about 30% and went back to the game. i could not for the life me land a single shot on any soldier after that...literally...but their movements were smooth! so i set it back to 0% and resumed my killings...

what is your network interpolation set to, especially those who complain about getting hitmarks on the enemy but getting killed themselves with the enemy having most of their health left? have you played with that option in the game?

Network interpolation is hit or miss, pun intended. It's too hard to tell if it's working. I've moved it left, right, center, and it's all placebo I think.

The network smoothing only affects your perception of everyone's movement move smoothly either by guessing how, when, what, where more often.

High pingers can take advantage of this cause it slow down their perception of everyone.

As for using the pistol for movement, good point. I haven't been the ground for quite some time, either I'm in the jet or helo ... usually piloting the helo.

I do believe scope glint is only an issue when you are zoomed in. You do not have to run around with your pistol if you're sniping (granted, you should already be) for fear of being spotted. The same does not apply to the laser attachment and tactical light.

I still don't know why anyone uses the tactical light, anyway. Or the foregrip.

Tactical light used to be as bright as the sun even from 100 meters out, so you'd be blinded from a distance, now it doesn't matter so much. I can't hit a damn thing without the foregrip so I use it almost all the time.

Farming Simulator 2013 is better than BF3. No blue tine, no vaseline all over you screen to destroy your visuals. Can host your own server and don't have to worry about punkbuster.

    Farming Sim 2013 FTW.

Farming Simulator 2013 also is a real PC first game. Unlike BF3 which is without a doubt a console first, console port game. And EA/DICE favors console over PC and release content first to console.

Farming Simulator 2013 is a true PC game with mods! Farming Simulator 2013 FTW! DICE could learn a lot from Farming Simulator 2013, what it means to make a PC Game. They used to know with BF2, but I think it's guaranteed BF4 will be a console first, console first access to content and console port.

And Farming Simulator 2013 has better vehicular combat.

My GPU's were acting weird last night while I was playing BF3. They were at 90% - 98% usage (both of them) with v-sync enabled. Usually, they barely go over 55% with v-sync enabled. Maybe it's the driver I'm using.

I still use the foregrip cause I don't use my sights often.

Anyways, the glint still show regardless if you are zoomed or not.
It has a narrow field of view to be seen on the opposite and a very wide field of view once seen.

I know for a fact that the foregrip harms your accuracy at range, but I do not know if it's worth using without your sights. Either way, I just use the laser sight and bipod (if it's available) instead.

And I never noticed that before. Have any screenshots, by chance?

I also hit more accurate from the hip than zoomed, which is total opposite of what it should be. That's the problem with BF3, things that should be intuitive are not. It's balanced for gameplay with no sense of reality. I was just thinking today as I rumbled the countryside with an AA tank how it took 1000 rounds to kill an infantry. It should only take a few. Also stupid how javelin's purposely miss when a tank smokes. It should at least hit in the last targeted location before the smoke so tanks have to actually move out of the smoke instead of sit there and smoke and see the javelin missile take a 90 degree detour at the last second.

Interesting, I've never realized this before.

In realmware's BF3 settings editor it also says 0.0%-100.0%, so it represents your ping.

I have over 100 ping tho xD

If your ping is really high and you're abusing client side hit detection (going into servers you don't belong) does this bring you back down to the realms of normal players or are you still unable of being hit, but it just smooths out gameplay on your end? If the latter is true I think a lot of players figured this out already and abuse it to no avail -__-

I have no problem with that. You want to play a game and the servers aren't always the best. My beef is with those who purposefully abuse this aspect of the game. Terrible idea by DICE. Wonder if we would have had this if PCs were the main platform (not sure how online play works on consoles compared to PCs).

Eh? A year and a half old game? No way, BF4 is coming end of this year, and will now be an annual game, so you really think they will spend time to perfect it when they will concentrate on adding more crap year in and year out to get you to buy it annually?

Anyone from NBR want to squad up?

I've been playing BF3 on/off for the past 6 months but never had any friends to consistently play with. I feel the game would be MUCH better if I played with some friends in a squad and communicated over Vent or something of the sort.

Add me and we can set something up!

Not sure if I believe they're going to stop developing on Bf3 after End Game. They create new bugs every release. There's going to be more to fix just because they're releasing new content. And if they decide to go that route, they'd better be prepped to deal with some very PO'd users. I doubt they'll shoot the hand that feeds them. I'm sure they're not going to be aiming for perfection, since they've already had time to do that and didn't, but they're definitely going to have to work on End Game fixes and tuning a majority of the year.

    Just my 2 cents.

End Game comes out in March so I give them until June to stop caring altogether. Heck, maybe even sooner the way both companies are being run!

PS: I believe the term is "bite" the hand that feeds them ;) They've already done it multiple times so once more won't hurt

I just want someone from DICE to respond to the community like this dev did (regarding "Aliens: Colonial Marines" and how terrible the reviews are):

^^This. (and said it in my post). They will still have to support End Game. It shouldn't be an issue since they're obviously already working on BF4 and still supporting BF3 as we speak...they can do both, for awhile longer at least.

I would like Metro a lot more under certain circumstances:

    1) Expand it so it could actually support 64 players (oh wait, it's a console port...)
    2) Lower the maximum amount of players able to play on it (yea right)
    3) Somehow revamp the actual map so there wasn't a stalemate in the middle 85-90% of the time. If there is a stalemate in a Battlefield game it's not supposed to last 50 minutes. Look at "Strike at Karkand" from BF2. A popular stalemate was when one side held the railroad tracks and the other held the area across the bridge, but that didn't last forever.

I liked Metro as it was a change in pace from what Battlefield is supposed to be, but Close Quarters was an unnecessary piece of garbage. Metro and one or two other smaller, close quarter maps should have been it. Period.

EDIT: Edited for using teh asterisks, dun dun duuuun O_O I think it's because BF3 makes me angry. I should stop posting here :p
