    Killzone 3 has a great 1st person cover system, only flaw with that game is that they made them to light compared to Killzone 2. D;

Hey guys, I really want to know if anyone has an idea of BF3's system requirements. My laptop can run Bad Company 2 very well and I hope to be able to play BF3 on my computer as well. Any ideas?

Nobody knows, not even DICE or EA because it's in Alpha. A post of some general performance figures of desktop CPU and GPU was posted here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gam...eld-3-alpha-info-questions-7.html#post7769097

You can extrapolate from there. But from what I've been reading, the alpha code is running quite well for hardware, but sounds like quad core is pretty much a requisite. And alpha code is usually completely unoptimized, just raw compiled code, so there's lots of room for improvement, not to mention drivers to help improve performance considerably.

The cover system for R6V was awesome...for R6V. Not sure how it would translate to BF. Probably pretty poorly, methinks.

64-player support has already been confirmed for PC. It's limited to 24 on the consoles, though.

I'm I not allowed to mention how the Alpha version ran on my laptop? Because I want to give a good benchmark for those who were wondering if their machines can run it or not.

I ran on ATI mobility HD Radeon 5730 and I played on the low and got about 40-50 frames according to FRAPS. I've seen my friend run his on a gtx 460 but it his ran about the same as me with medium settings.

Barely ran on mines. Settings tuned low and lowered resolution. Frequent stuttering and average 20-30fps. Still played though!

Is that a dual core AMD Athlon II?
( Based on second generation Phenom cores)
Unless you manage to unlock core 3 & 4 so its a quad im not giving rhat systemany high chances of success.

My brothers AMD Phenom II 720 x3 @ 2,6 GHz runs BC2 and doesent seem to be a bottleneck.

That is JUST GREAT! YEEEEAAAH! :D

What was the res? If it was 768p, then I'll get around 30 FPS at 1080p in low which is great at DX11! Can you also play on high and tell me how many FPS you got?

Keep in mind all we're seeing in this alpha is 32 players, no jets or anything. So yeah, it's going to seem pretty similar to BFBC2 gameplay for now. And it's still loads of fun...I can't wait to experience the full 64-player games with jets and helicopters and tanks.

i see nothing wrong with this looking like a Bad Company 3.... Bad Company 2 IMO is one of the best FPS out there. Hell, I hope they really do a Bad Company 3 in the future.

I think the NDA permits me to say that the BF3 alpha was fun and more tactical than BC2. Although it may only be the map that makes it tactical.
I will reserve my final opinion for when I can play the retail game fullscreen without it crashing. The alpha client wasn't especially stable...
EDIT: This game probably will require a good GPU and a modern quad-core CPU.

BC2 was good, but BF1942 and 2 were amazing. I just want the destruction and the updated graphics mixed with the features of the first two without that silly Q spamming and clairvoyant ability to kill just by seeing that triangle from BC2.

Yeah, that triangle is stupid. I of course exploit it to its fullest, shooting at triangles from a half mile away, but why not, everyone else does. However, I have tried many hardcore servers, but it's just a sniper camp fest. Depends on the map though. Some with lots of vehicles, sniper is useless. Plus if you see the direction of the shot, next time you just sneak over that way and sure enough they're stupid enough to keep camping there looking in the same direction.

hopefully it will have maps similar to battlefield were sniping will only allow you to see 1/10 of the map... not battle-corridor were you can stand at one end and snipe the other...

Why not get a PayPal Debit card? Works like a credit card but withdraws money from your PayPal account. That's what I do for places that don't take PayPal.

I couldn't agree more. My favorite maps are the ones that force people to get up close and personal to fight. Vehicle heavy or sniper friendly maps I've always found to be pretty boring.

    Been known a long time.
Valve want full control while EA wants the same with Origin.

No biggie, just buy it from the other digital stores, Origin or just grab it at retail.
You need a Origin account to play newer EA games anyways.
    (Bad Company 2 ect.)

I get you, as long as the map isn't solely an urban close-quarters map. The maps have to have that maneuverability to them where those close encounters can be avoided. That's what the Battlefield series is all about! Hopefully BF3 will have a good mix, which i'm sure it will.

Valve just doesnt want to have exclusives not allowed on to their system (steam) thats why crysis 2 was removed because ea wanted some dlc to be origin exclusive and thats a big no no to valve. I like that, it makes it so that if we get a game on steam we know that we are covered with future updates

also i dont see myself buying this game if its not on steam. And dont call me a fanboy of steam or anything like that but even if you buy this game retail YOU WILL have to use origin and my expirience with origin (excluding customer support) was down right terrible. It locks up my computer. I bought games on it a while back when it was ea download manager (BF2 and 2142) and guess what! i cant play them anymore because they are basically gone! just like that! and also its a poor knock off of steam and even a poor knock off of windows live...

LOL, I wonder if my computer will be able to run BF3 (see sig for my computer). I can run games like StarCraft II, (according to can I run it) I can run BFBC2 on minimal, although it's games like R6V2 which I have to run at 800x480 res to be smooth worries me. But, if not, I already have it preorderd for my Xbox 360 :)

Probably will atleast need a quadcore, just like most games these days -- console ports mostly.

Honestly with that system I highly doubt you will be able to play a modern game with a non-gaming PC.
