I love you....I really do.

Yeaaa
Just got my invite through email downloading now
-
So because you opt not to be spammed by EA they won't let you in. I bet in the fine print it doesn't say that by not subscribing that it will prevent you from being eligible, blah blah blah. -
Yeah, same here unfortunately. I'm still not gonna sign up for those newsletters.
-
At first I was like
then I was like
I'm not special...
It seems that more people than not are getting into the "alpha" IRRC its from signing up for the newsletter...
I'll let everyone know if it will run on a t9600/fx3700...
ALSO: the "alpha" only runs until aug 1st... -
Doesn't work for me
oh well I'll just wait for the beta.
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Booo I have veteran status and I am signed up for the Newsletter and i got denied
-
any idea what newsletter you have to sign up for?
-
IRRC its this one
Battlefield 3 : BF3 - EA Available 10.25.2011 -
That doesn't work, you need to be invited via email from DICE first, then you can go through that process and get your Alpha key.
Who gets the key is totally random, people who has BF veteran status will definitely buy the game, so there's no need to convince them using an Alpha.
Just sit back and wait for the beta.

^^cheers bud, will let you know how I go!
-
you need to read the last few pages, 90% of the people that have signed up for the newsletter have gotten into the 'alpha'
taken from techpowerup -
Sorry folks, worked for me! I happened to get an email after I went through this process, sorry if I got some of your hopes up. If it means anything to you, I can barely play it on the rig in my signature.
Sorry!
-
Have you tried lowering the settings and playing at 1024x768?
-
Well I guess I'm just not lucky enough, no invite.
Do you mind sharing your settings? -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Dude, Don't apologize for nothing! Just luck of the draw bud.
-
That's happening next. Lots of crashes so far.
1920x1080, Graphics set to setting "Low" (no other options)
LOL, I thought they were giving them out without invite, that's how surprised I was at receiving one.
-
Playing at native resolution on NP8130, default specs (560m) I get around 21-22 FPS on med/high. Doesn't seem to be much of a difference in settings though. I'm sure it will much better on retail though.
-
Does it still look good on those setting?
-
I got an invite as well! It's still downloading, but I'm putting it on the SSD to get at it as quick as possible.
-
Cheesman, how long did it take you to receive the email after signing up?
I might create a couple of emails to try and get a key... -
I've had an EA account since 2008, but I just recently verified my account, updated my veteran status, logged into Origin and signed up for the news-letter. Initially I signed up for the news-letter like 2 days ago, but after making these changes I signed up for it again. It took less than a day for them to send me the invite after the changes.
-
Heh, I've had every battlefield game since 1942 and its two expansions...still not received an email.
Haven't downloaded origin yet, but since you said you had to wait for a day or so to get the email, I might wait a little longer too!
Thanks for the heads up mate, fingers crossed I get the invite before holidays end!

I've had an EA account since 2005, I've been playing BF2 since the demo as well as BF2142 and BC2. Where's my invite?
-
Here's what EA support has to say about the veteran status -
(I was having trouble adding BF2142, so I contacted EA support)
-
Yes the game is quite pretty. I think it's a pretty big difference between BC2 and BF3. It feels more real if that makes sense. Both in gameplay and graphics.
I wouldn't be too bummed if you miss out on this, pretty sure it ends Aug 1st anyways, and it's Rush only. I dont think I've played Rush since BC2 beta. -
I got my invite and downloaded it last night. It feels pretty nice so far. Plays nice and smooth on my desktop with a 4.0GHz Phenom II x4 965BE, 4GB DDR2 and a GTS 250 1GB graphics card at 1680x1050. Basically, if you can run BFBC2 comfortably, you'll probably get similar results with the BF3 alpha.
As for the game itself, it's looking and playing pretty good so far. -
Same here. Bought BF2 and expansions all at regular retail price. Eventually bought it on Steam too. Also have 1942 in two forms, retail of 2142, and Bad Company 2. I've put in a combined over 1200 hours in these games, supported them, yet because I don't sign up for their crappy newsletter I don't get invited. Nice.
-
your not missing much... there is only one map and 20000 different glitches/crashes/issues...
and since most people are noobs you never get past the first Mstation -
Yeah, I know. It's just principle. I hate beta even, still lots of bugs, server downtime and such, makes it a bit annoying. As long as final product is good.
Is there a comma-rose or the dreaded target triangle? -
Il let you guess. :3
Bad Company 3?
3D spot FTL.
I hate that friggen thing and hope they patch it away when we hit beta or something.
Keep that crap on consoles. -
I think you misunderstood me. The EA account I used for the alpha is from 2008, but I actually own every single Battlefield game as well (BF1942 with secret weapons of WWII, BF2 with expansion packs, BF2142, BF Vietnam, BF: BC, BF: BC2 on both PC and PS3, BF1943 on PS3, and I even bought the lousy Vietnam expansion pack for BC2). However, from what I hear the veteran status doesn't make much difference in the invite.
-
I'm not sure how they determine who gets in when. I have BF2, BF2142 and BC2 + the Vietnam expansion. Had my account since whenever I got BF2, like 2006 or so?
-
Got an invite without asking, just had an EA account.
-
Ah, it must be because you have such a cool avatar..
-
Got my invite in email yeah me
-
Just got my alpha invite.
-
I want an invite...
Thank God I'm in the early beta
-
Hey guys, I havent received an alpha invite despite being subscribed to the battlefield newsletter and having 2 veteran status.
Anyway, how do you think my laptop (in my sig) would cope running battlefield 3? I have also overclocked the video card a bit, and notice an increase of about 10fps in most games over stock.
I can play BC2 at about 70-90 fps running in dx10 mode (dx11 card) with all settings high except shadows low with all lighting effects off (HBAO, bloom), with a resolution of 1600x900 with 16x AF (no fps decrease) and 1x anti aliasing.
Also do you think you will be able to run battlefield 3 on release in dx10 mode (I see a fair improvement in fps over dx11) and will you be able to shut off advanced lighting as that really makes a difference for me.
Im just hoping theres a lot of settings to tweak when it releases so we can all optimise the game to our needs, as I said those small tweaks improved my fps massively with no noticeable drop in quality.
EDIT: Also note I can get benchmark scores a little higher than the gtx 460m when overclocked. (14k 3Dmark06) -
If you can run Bad Company 2 fluently, then you should be able to run Battlefield 3.
-
It's probably just random from anyone that has an EA account.
-
That's what I'm assuming.
As for performance, it pretty much runs about as smoothly as BFBC2 does. -
4 me BFBC2 never ran smooth
. After a minute i get micro stuttering every 5 seconds....
-
I had that too, and i found out that the network code in Windows 7 caused it. D:
Singleplayer was lag free, but as soon as i connected to a server it would go down to under 5fps at random times.
Easiest tool is this if you dont wanna manually edit the registery.
Manual guide here. -
Hey guys serious question. I know that battlefield 3 will only support dx10 and dx11 on PC. My question is will you be able to change what DirectX version you run the game in, like in bad company 2.
I know that your GPU will automatically set to the latest DX version it supports but I want to be able to run my Dx11 card in dx10 mode as I see large performance increases in BC2 when doing so. -
There were only minimum graphics settings available for the Alpha (literally high-med-low), but I'm certain you'll have the ability to tweak your settings when the full game releases. There would be no sense behind releasing a "technically advanced" game and not have options to tweak your settings.
-
What do you guys think of a cover mechanic, similar to this: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Gameplay PC‏ - YouTube
I'm not sure if it would encourage camping or add a sweet tactical aspect. Opinions? -
For that style of game it works well, but I don't think it would go well with Battlefield.
-
NEVER. I hate going from first person to third person. Maybe if they could work out a cover system that didn't involve third person but its not hard to take cover without a "cover system"
