Aw yeah, they be showing the BF3 ads in the "Kino1" cinemas here in Norway.
Did the same with Medal of Honour, but they only show on the movies with higher ratings.

I'm not trying to start a fight or anything by saying something controversial/provocative (if I even am...) but I am curious, do you guys (non Americans) ever get upset that most video games largely star American's? All the talk of advertising in foreign countries made me curious as I have never really thought about it before...

A lot of game makers are based in America. I played a game once (Conflict: Desert Storm) that you could pick English or Americans, but these games are few and far between.

about looking beyond the bugs, which from my experience were few, i thought the game was amazing, the one thing that i really thought was cool was when you jump over walls and rocks, you see the legs move over, and your guy isn't just some stick figure, he moves around realistically, and i really liked the suppression assist. how many times have you been shooting at a guy and not hit him, but you were close? i think its cool how it blurs the screen too. imo the game isn't just about the graphics and eye candy, its about the realism of it. honestly if they had a game that was totally realistic like real life, i wouldn't mind playing it on low res and no AA.

Well, im not really angry about it. Though i think it would be nice if they incorporated the danish soldier in games like BF especially considering that the danish soldiers are the ones holding the helmand province, which is considered the most dangerous place in Afghanistan...

It also requires a web browser, which seems more troublesome. I don't think it's really efficient to start a web browser as a server browser. I use Opera, which isn't known for its minimal use of RAM.

Maybe launch through a web-like interface, that's all Steam is and same with Impulse. I sure hope internet connection isn't required for the single player campaign!?

Actually, if I recall, one of the developers or community managers tweeted that it would be required to run the game from Battlelog, in order to keep a more tight community.

I guess I'd have to see what battlelog is. I heard that Alpha actually ran in a browser window, which I thought was odd. But figured it was a way to keep the code secure.

Technically it didn't run in the browser like Quake Live or a flash game, it launched the .exe from the browser.

yes you used the browser to find a server, which then launched the game, which is kindof nice.

I wish they added support to use the native browser in the Origin game overlay.
In the end we gonna have to use Origin anyways so why not take full use of it?
Also if they tied the BF3 friend list into the Origin friend list, that would be cool too.

Of the countries that most military themed FPSs are released in, the USA makes up the majority of the potential market by a long shot.

so is it true that in Switzerland every citizen is trained to use a fully automatic weapon and required to keep one in their home?

Yes it is. They have to go to re-train for a weekend each 2 or 3 years im quite sure of. And even with weapons Switzerland has a extremely low crime rate...

Not quite. The Swiss army is composed mainly of conscripts, and every male aged 19 undergoes basic military training. After training, they are inducted into militia service, and are issued personal weapons (Sig 550 and P220). They do keep these weapons at their home, along with ammo.

So, virtually all men are trained, and they are required to keep their weapons stored at home during their period of militia reserve service. After that, they are no longer required to keep them.

Switzerland is also a different country than Sweden :D

I've got to say that what I'm most excited about for BF3 is that Back to Karkand expansion pack. Sure, I'll have to wait a few a couple months for it, but it's going to be so cool to go back to those maps with a huge graphics upgrade.

HTWingNut, how are you liking that Sager that you have? I'm looking at getting a very similar setup from them. What is that 95% gamut matte screen like?

Sager is really nice, except it's a bit overkill for me and battery life is dismal at least for my needs (2-2.5 hours). I think I'm going to return it.

The 95% gamut matte is great. I love it. Very bright too. Except it will some calibration to get it to look "right".

Cool. I think I'm going to go with the glossy 95% gamut. I just don't know if the matte is worth the extra cost.

Build quality on the sager is good though? I'm a student so it will be going in and out of a backpack quite a bit. It is too bad that it doesn't have the Optimus feature, but I'll sacrifice battery life for raw power especially since BF3 is involved.

The calibration shouldn't be a big deal. I work for a home theater business in town and handle all of their TV calibrations. I'll just need the software license for the PC version of the CalMan software (CalPC) as I already have all the necessary hardware required to do it.

Ok, but that's a different sort of thing than being a random female citizen. Switzerland arms a standing militia in case of invasion. Not all citizens are armed.

I doubt that 5 posts can be considered taking over a 110 page thread -.-
Anyways, im a little bit sad that they dident allow us to play around with some jets in a full scale map, that way you would really be able to see if they keep it as BF2....

Soo just an update... those of you who were planning to buy the retail/boxed version to avoid origin, it ain't happening: Retail copies of Battlefield 3 will still require EA's Origin

but at least EA has finally spit out their "reason" why it isn't on steam Battlefield 3 is not coming to Steam, but EA has a real reason

At this point im still skeptical if it will actually end up on steam after all at a later date, or if I'll buy it... all I know right now is that they sure haven't sold me on a preorder.

I'm assuming they'd release the map they are featuring at GAMESCOM, which is supposed to have jets. That's where my money's at.
