I think it did![]()
This is a GREAT move from DICE : gets what PC guys want, the comma rose, plus improvements to what the PC guys DIDN'T want, which was 3D Spotting wallhack, now, EVERYBODY is happy!![]()
This is shaping up for a 94+ metascore game with a bunch of awards.

I loved playing on games with a commander. Then again with the way they implemented artillery and support packs, maybe it isn't necessary. But with a proper commander implementation it would encourage squads to work together instead of going lone wolf. Although I do like your idea of "buying" artillery and UAV calls based on your team's points.
VOIP has always been there for squad comms, it's just that it never worked in any implementation of Battlefield. BF2 was ok, but still not great.
From everything I've seen so far though, I'm a lot more comfortable and liking where it's heading.
I was just thinking though. I bought the Limited edition from newegg.com. Should I still be eligible for the beta? Or is it only if you buy Limited from Origin? -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I think you are only eligible for the BETA if you preordered it from Origin. I don't expect any third-party retailers to offer anyone BETA access. I myself preordered from Best Buy but that's only because they guarantee release day availability and because I want a hard copy.
Anyways, if you really think about it the commander in BF2 was rarely used correctly. Only on strict, teamplay enforcing clan servers were they used to *some* effect. But on pubs? No, commanders were pretty much always useless and no one listened because most people didn't even squad up. -
It can be a real bother when I'm trying to flank, like on Arica Harbor. Sometimes your team is just so inept that they're pushed back to base and you're trying to sneak through the sides only to get spotted and bumrushed because of that red triangle. I've done it myself, but recently I hold off when there's still like 100 tickets because it's just not fun cornering a team that fast.
-

Well, it's just that most of the maps in BC2 are really, really linear. There's really only one area where the attacking team can come from on a map and since the maps are rather small, flanking is hard without being spotted.
-
You guys are still eligible for the beta, those who pre-ordered on Origin just gets a 2 day headstart.
-
preorder placed. I played up to 2142 then stopped playing BF. I have high expectations for this one.
-
I have BFBC2 but it didn't match up to my expectations, hopefully I won't go all ლ(ಠ益ಠლ
on BF3 like I did on BFBC2. XD
-
Thanks for info. Wondering how we get our keys? I got nothing more than a pre-order confirmation from newegg.
-
lol did you get moh limited? that came with a beta invite. and supposedly there will be a closed and open beta.
-
Battlefield 2 was THE best FPS I have ever played, not so much for the single player, but the multiplayer was nothing short of epic. Unfortunately, I've never had a PC capable of playing it half decent. So, I bought the Xbox version, I'll be doing the same come October for B3.
-
Are you referring to Battlefield 2 or Bad Company 2? Because Battlefield 2 will run on any laptop with Core 2 Duo and and GMA 4500MHD GPU.
-
No, had no interest in MoH, until I got it dirt cheap from Steam.
-
BF2 runs great on GMA 4500mhd.
As long as you had the ram needed it was a happy game. -
does anyone have pictures of this game and how it will look?
or links to pictures -
lmao, where have you been man? have you read any of this thread?
type in google bf3 and ull get pics, or go to youtube... they have even more!
on a side note, im debating on whether or not to go with dual cards or a single card (between an m17x or m18x) strictly on the fact to see if a single card could handle max settings on this game. Anyone think a single 580m GTX could handle this? -
I'm just glad my computer can ran smoothly BF3, even if it was just Alpha.
-
was it on the highest settings? and how different do you think the alpha will be to the actual game?
-
And that is the absolute best news for everyone! Yay!
-
Medium settings. I probably got 30 fps at most. It was okay, didn't really affect my gameplay.
EDIT: I've seen this run on GTX 460, it ran the same as mine, and he was on medium as well. I think DICE will better optimize their engine for performance using DX11, for better...or worse. -
How come I get this feeling like this is saying to my benchmark means "If his laptop can run it, everyone else can!"?
-
No, just that you have a modest system, and that's a good sign if it runs well on yours, that it won't require an i7-2920XM and 6990m to make it playable.
-
Yea I know, just playing around. I was surprised myself on good it still looked on medium while getting good frames.
-
Isnt the GTX460 faster than yours?
-
Obviously, but it wasnt the graphics card fault but the game engine itself. His was a desktop and we played our pcs right next to each other
-
Bad Company
-
yeah i could run my 485m on high 1080p, at 30 fps, but i switched to 1600x900, non scaled of course, and got double the frame rates.
-
well i searched google and could not find any ingame good pictures of bf3 running. can someone direct me to some quality pictures please?
-
Errr, you do know there are live gameplay youtube videos from Pre-Alpha and Alpha?
-
yea i just found it. the game looks awesome
but the graphics still dont look as good as crysis.
when do you guys think games will come out that look as good as crysis? -
I think BF3 does look better... More realistic, lighting, shading and particles are miles better IMO.
-
lay off the crack lol
-
Probably not for a while. Everything is used deferred rendering and shading. Crysis did not, which is why it was so taxing on hardware. All this deferred rendering/shading is because of cross platform development. It's the only way to ensure console graphics keep up with PC. Maybe when there is a game that is exclusively PC using a exclusively PC engine.
- People though Witcher 2 was PC exclusive, it wasn't. The engine was developed for cross platform from the get go and everything is deferred in that.
- FB 2.0 is probably the next best engine after CryEngine 3 in terms of cross platform development. Nearly everything in FB 2.0 is actually optimized for consoles.
- Red Orchestra 2 will be a PC Exclusive game, but it uses UE3 which is a cross platform engine, console first engine with DX11 attached to it as an after thought.
But then if games weren't done this way, you may see games that require desktops for high details etc, something that will really make those HD6970, GTX 580 owners happy and make the HD6970M/GTX 580M users cry. -
Ehmm...
I'm sorry, but with my experience ( played Crysis 1 with mods ), BF3 still looks better. The Post Processing is spot on, the textures are MUCH better, and the lighting quality is very good in BF3, better than in C2. -
your eyes are failing you. crysis 2 looks much better in all aspects
-
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
-
And ftom that statement I will not believe in you anymore and know you're a Crysis fanboy. Crhsis 2 looks worse than Crysis 1 which looks worse than BF3.
Face it, DICE just won the crown for best graphics. -
Having played the BF3 alpha, I still think Crysis/Warhead is more graphically intense/super-realistic. Never played Crysis 2.
For someone who accuses others of being fanboys, you're being pretty factual about the notion that BF3 looks objectively better than Crysis. -
I'm not saying that *everything* looks better. I'm just saying that some things like DX11 usage, textures and lighting are better in BF3 than in C1 with natural mod and texture mods IMO.
And yes, I must admit that I'm a BF3 fanboy, but that doesn't stop me from being neutral and giving my opinions in comparisons like this one. -
To be honest, I thought some of the BF3 textures were very bland, particularly on weapons. I don't use any mods with Crysis, just maximum settings.
-
Crysis looks better that BF#, period. Throw in the Real lifesis mod and it is no contest.
What are you smoking Phistacio?

While I think Crysis looks pretty good, that real lifesys mod makes those rocks look like plastic props from the original Star Trek series.
-
Yes, Crysis graphics are gorgeous. It's just, it's a different kind of graphics. With deferred rendering, DICE, IMO, topped any game with BF3's lighting.
And as a previous poster said, "The beauty is in the eye of the beholder". You might think that, errr, BC2 has bad graphics, but for me, it has great graphics. Tastes are different.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
oh nevermind.
-
Crysis 2 was a franchise PHAIL.
Now, BF3 will be a minion to Crysis. Reasons:
1.Mod support (This keeps games running for a long time like Rome:Total War)
2.Physics, BF3 should take the crown, but Crysis does it better, and the alpha doesn't change my opinion AT ALL.
3.Open world BABY! Crysis was not open world, but heck, it seemed like that.
4.BF3 is a better CoD. Crysis was a alien at the time of launch.
5.Crysis was (to me) actually a horror game. It was scary in that part where you kill Gen.Kyong and go into that Alien cave thingy, lights go out...and a blue sludgeball alien pops up. YIKES!
6.BF3 will have no editor. U R NO SURPRISE ME.
7.DICE will probably not offer free content to PC players unlike Crysis.
8.BF3 is optimized for Consoles. Proof from my Profs. SDK.
9.DX11 is not a ground breaking technology, it's 25% better then DX10 BUT the performance you get in DX11 compared to DX10 makes it 15%, not worth the performance drop.
10.Less vehicles in BF3. Nuff' said.
11.Not enough gore. I want GoW2 style! BRAINZZZZ!!!!
12.Crysis has cool water physics (Phail reason).
13.The trees and bushes in Crysis...are mind blowing! Did you play Crysis on low settings with 44 LOD?
14.Like said, DICE will focus on consoles for the moneyz (But Crytek did that too).
15.It won't require hardcore team deathmatch uber PC gamers to upgrade their systems. Heck, the M11X even runs it good, unlike MoH:AA, laggy junk.
16.BF3 uses origin. I like my cheap Steam games. Nuff' said again.
17.Pirates will pirate BF3 because they don't want Origin HURR DURR ME (heheh)
18.You can eat Sushi in Crysis and use a fishing rod. (Mod)
19.H4x0rs will ruin BF3.
20.No sharks in BF3. I made a crappy machinima using Sharks called JAWS:Maximum Teeth for teh LuLz.
21.No tacguns/nukes in BF3. I use nuclear artillery in BF2. IT R AWESOME!
22.BF3 will HAVE 120% crappier storyline, it's obvious, BF3 is not a single player game=deal breaker IMHO.
23.OMG CAMPERS INVADING THE FRONT! GOTTEN' HIMMEL!
24.GOTTEN' HIMMEL, no aliens in BF3!
25.You can't grab people and throw them into hobo shacks.
26.No mountain climbing maps in BF3. Yikey pickles!
27.In BF3 everyone will be camping with pickles and a sniper rifle.
28.No cloak in BF3. MAXIIIIIUX<MUJNIOKMIK CLOAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
29.No zeroG environments (no gravity environments)
30.You can't chop down trees in BF3 (Stupid reason, but I luv chopping down trees!)
31.What? There's no rule 31 in Crysis nor BF3. You pervert
I could go on and on and on and on and on...I think you get the picture. -
<edited post>
-
Crysis is clearly a single player modder friendly game.
Battlefield 3 is a huge open map multiplayer game.
I don't understand why they're being compared, other than the comments about which graphics are superior. In the end WHO CARES!
BF3 is shaping up to be a fun and entertaining military MMO FPS. I like decent graphics, but if the game mechanics suffer, then give me wireframe, I don't care.
Your father has spoken. No go to your room! -
lol. after my first post here. i come back to this.
crysis was and is epic in everyway.
bf3 is going to be great
theres the differance
mods push crysis way beyond any game graphically for years to come. imho the only game that comes close to crysis detail wise i metro 2033. but lighting and enviroment wise nothing can touch it.
i am not a crysis fanboy but i do enjoy the game alot
just look at the video of crysis maxed with realifesis mod. it looks realistic and photographic. as though you could take hundreds of pictures showing off its beauty. can you say thee same for bf3. would you take a picture of bf3 and say wow the same way you would with crysis? no you would not because the games are in two differant categorys
i wish bf3 looked better or as good as crysis, but i fear it wont be until the new consoles are released that we see a game that dethrones crysis graphically.
P. im pretty sure you played crysis on all low. you should try seeing the game on high or enthusiast. -
I showed Crysis Warhead to my dad this weekend and he was like :O
The last PC game he played was Fury3 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -
haha, thats funny
i am sure he wasnt expecting such a giant leap
i showed my dad(console payer) crysis 1 and warhead and he was impressed. wanted to play it on his xbox360 lol. told him he couldnt play it cause its not out for consoles. which sucks kinda wish it was out for consoles alot of people missing out on the graphics.
