He sounds desperate. I would be too if I have found out that DICE can't get their act together and not just fix bugs (regardless of whatever version they release), but the burden of a very tedious and unorthodox interface to try and play the game.

Well yeah he sounds desperate, but his thoughts do reflect the majority of gamer concerns... if you put out a beta to hype up a game (make no mistake, that is exactly what the bf3 beta was supposed to do, or else there would be new builds every day to fix bugs and retest) it HAD BETTER WORK, and it should probably showcase at least one of the BEST aspects the game can offer (vehicles, large maps).

Instead EA decided to use the worst map possible, on a month+ old build that they had no intention of patching, using a terrible 'new' matchmaking system that they quite frankly pulled out of their butt in a little under a month (I don't recall battlelog being in the alpha!). Really I think that is a lot of what upsets us the most; the "official beta build" was several steps backwards from the alpha, and it sure seems like theyve spent the better part of the last month developing a buggy, insecure browser based matchmaking system that nobody wants rather than polishing the actual game.

Whatever. Yes it's beta. Yes it's stupid that they didn't patch it or offer users a little more. But it is what it is. Wait for final release before you buy then and get feedback that way. EA/DICE should have been very forthcoming though in stating what this Beta was all about. They would have been much better off giving us a true demo with one map with vehicles like BF2 did with Gulf of Oman.

Remember though, we are allegedly going to be getting a map pack with BF2 maps, so even if all of the new maps suck there is still hope.

No point in giving in-depth, hands-on experience on a BETA who's build is 2+ months old. I'm willing to bet the final game will be a lot more polished. Anyone have any idea when BF3 will go Gold?

Caspian runs as smooth as metro outdoor for me... but i dont know if its my internet connection or the servers.. there is a LOT of lag, especially when match starts.. almost unplayable..

Anyway i've pre-ordered it and am hoping everything is resolved by launch. Also hope they get more asian servers.. There are only 12 asian caspian servers right now as opposed to 100+ in EU and NA

    I'm enjoying the Beta,
even though I am a huge noob and I keep getting killed, it's a fun game!
Runs more than smoothly on my config (as you would expect from a GTX 570 O_O).

Caspian runs fine on my desktop on all high settings, but it doesn't look that good; fences lack any sort of antialiasing at all and just generally look like crap. However DICE said that the final game settings will look better, and I believe them.

Also, sniper rifles = free kills. I just went 14 and 2 on metro using nothing but a semi sniper rifle... No wonder people complain about the sniper class.

Medium Settings, I get about 35-40 fps according to fraps. Then I realized I didn't have my overclock set for my GPU, so about 3 or 5 frames were added.

I'm getting the feeling this is a console port, not a PC game. Wouldn't be the first time a developer has lied to us. They seemed to have taken a copy/cut/paste of BC2, fixed absolutely nothing and they spent all their money on the biggest marketing campaign known to man.

The thing pissing me off most is the controls. It is EXACTLY like BC2: once you hop in a vehicle your mouse sensitivity drops 800% and gains massive amounts of acceleration. Add to this the inability to assign mouse buttons, invert flight check boxes that don't do a damn thing and the worse damn net code to be released in a game to date and you have BF3!! Why do developers lie to us?

After playing Caspian Border, I have to say it definitely has the BF2 feel. Knowing it's old code and it actually plays fairly well, I'm getting more excited again. This is what they needed to release to the public first IMHO.

Honestly I really have no sense of how big Caspian border is because of the complete lack of a full map as in all previous real BF games; even with the map zoomed out all the way it doesn't show everything. It also doesn't seem to have any sort of grid coordinates or show control points.

Caspian border honestly didn't seem that big at all, and the squads were really too small to have any sort of cohesive fighting going on. It was mostly just people wandering around the map trying to capture things. For a full BF experience we NEED 6 player squads. I found the BF2142 MP a lot more fun than conquest in BF3 so far. Of course people generally have no clue what they are doing, so it is a little much to expect teamwork.

Completely agree - zero squad work, and when it happens on a larger map, it becomes guys running solo capping random points.

I think the commander was what made it awesome in BF2 - they could call in uav artillery etc and hence have some sort of co-ordination between the squads. Squads are what made BF2 - and I don't see that at all in this one. Weapons are also ridiculously easy to handle (cf BF2), PLUS battlelog is just pissing me off :D

Sigh, so high hopes... might have to get mw3 as I don't see myself getting anywhere near the 180 hrs I had in BF 2 :D

or I can just wait for the new counter strike

    Hi Guys,

I would like to ask for help regarding the issue I noticed when selecting a unit. As seen in youtube videos, you can view the soldier image when choosing although in my case, it is not visible. Is there any options that I should check? or is it a problem in PC version of the beta?

    Here's the screenshot:
