Anyone know if there is a crash log? I am getting a lot of crashes to the desktop where the game just disappears?

Are you overclocked? The game has not crashed once for me. Check the Event Log under Administrative Tools in the Control Panel.

I laugh so hard every time I see that. Dude is floating along the ground with his legs with his neck up high in the air so awesome. They should leave that in. lol.

Today I was playing with Phistachio and Aduy and it was hilarious. There was a friendly moving forward and an enemy walking backwards and they were back to back, no joke, and both started turning around at the same time so they didn't see each other, lol until enemy saw me. I died cause I was laughing.

+1. I usually just keep getting killed by someone laying in a bush/glitch hole, or on the island.

For the umpteenth time, this is based on early beta, and only to test the server end, not in game performance or weapons balancing, or anything.

Well at least the BETA isn't as atrocious as ID's Rage -- played a little at a buddies on his PC and it was awful, maybe the most boring and biggest 'let down' game of the year-- FWIW.

That being said I don't trust DICE.

Yeah after EA solidifies 1.5M pre-orders, lol. But still if DLC needs to be acquired through EA, how dumb. Wonder if EA will let users register their key with Steam so they can launch and play through Steam.

Although it begs the question, what about battlelog? Does this mean no crappy browser launcher? If all it lets you do is buy it through Steam and put it in your games list, but still have to launch through battlelog and buy and download DLC from EA, then what's the point?

Yeah, but its kind of late considering I pre ordered it on Origin...

Think of how much better this game could have been if DICE and EA hadn't tried so many strange things before launch, like using it to peddle their useless "origin" service; making us join servers through this new Battlelog that no one wants (so now we have to have both firefox AND origina running just to play BF3).
Honestly if they had just made BF3 exactly the same as BF2 with better graphics/character animations and destruction 99% of the community would be ecstatic. They keep trying to ruin the good formula that they had, but I fear is long lost now.

@ht: Well I mean, it IS EA after all so anything stupid or illogical isn't out of the question, so they might keep their little battlelog system, who knows. It just better not be... open steam > open bf3 > which opens origin > which opens battlelog > which opens bf3

If they've actually got anyone with brains over there though, I think that they would realize after this beta test that their current systems and distribution methods are simply awful to the majority of gamers. I mean look at the above, how is that a good idea at all?

It was DICE`s own server for some kind of gaming show in Russia. It was password protected.

what i am curious to see is how the final battle-log will look once the game releases. i hope they add the servers in-game as well, and i truly hope they heard our cries about battlelog. but then again, plan for the worst, hope for the best.

I really think the FEEL of this new game is phenomenal, I just think the goofy crap like Battlelog takes away from it. The actual game is going to be great, though.

I can almost guarantee that battlelog will be implemented at release. It would take a lot of resources to add an in-game browser, menu, etc. To be honest I think I'd rather have something that works like battlelog than a really glitchy in-game browser because it was rushed.

idk who said the guns sound like air soft guns, but I think what makes this game such a High Grade FPS is its SOUND.... Very realistic, making you feel like you're really there regardless of the Graphics.

Yeah, I'm glad they implemented in-game squad management. The thing they had before through Battlelog was horrible. Again, I don't really mind Battlelog because I can see the benefits it provides and overall the interface and workings of Battlelog have been great, even in the BETA with everything pretty much working as supposed.

The sound is absolutely mind blowing. Although I think some of the guns could use a little more "oomph" so to speak, especially the pistols. But there is nothing like the sound of an RPG wizzing by your head, they've really outdone themselves with the sound design.

Same here. $45 with free shipping.

    Why risk ordering anywhere else.

Plus when you pre order this way NewEgg does not charge your card until the item ships so I can literally wait up until the last minute and decide to cancel my pre order without having to worry about refunds.

As for the whole BF3 drama, I have had a decent time with the beta but would like to see more.
I dont like Origin at all and it comes close to making me want to cancel my preorder.
I have serious concerns about the potential to get "banned" from a game I purchased by playing on a "hacked" server that shows up in the official server list. (why inst it illegal for companies to do stuff like this?).

Anyways I will be keeping a close eye on what happens with BF3 up until release.

Its easy to avoid if you keep yourself to Punkbuster enabled servers and also check that the player limit does not go over the max amount for that game mode and / or map.

Those are some good overclocks! Should work out well for you. What FPS are you getting currently?

I'm running 35-40 outside with medium, but low the high spec stuff like HBAO, shadows, SSAO, etc. And 40-50 indoors. That's using my Crossfire which surprisingly doesn't stutter like it does in other games.

    This is new:

    Twitter

So it seems like only DX10 is available atm in the Beta, even if the renderer is the DX11.

    Edit: to be more clear

    Battlefield
@rabiddog1 That's a no. The ultra settings now are not representative of what they will be in the final release. ^CH

But they just said Ultra in the BETA won't be as good as Ultra in the final release, don't be so sure! I have a nagging fear I'll have to replace my solo 5870 to run this game on Ultra at 1920x1200. Right now the BETA runs fine on Ultra, 2xAA with SSAO/HBAO off.

Erm, they aren't using Ultra textures and have gimped a lot of the other details for the beta, not to mention lack of vehicles, 32-man servers, etc. Unfortunately I don't think we can gauge anything from the beta as far as final product performance.

64 players maxed in the final release at 1920 x 1200 will be very taxing on large maps with lots of people, vegetation and buildings!!

OMG I can't wait for Back to Karkand and Gulf of Oman, oh man, Gulf of Oman brings so many memories. I remember playing the demo version of BF2 on Oman just before BF2 was released. It was so epic.

So I've finally found some time to try the beta (for the Xbox 360) and I have a few things to say.

    1) The sound effects are exceptional. I realize that graphics and setting are important tools to "pull the gamer" into the experience, but honestly I think it's mostly attributed to how firefights/ambient noise sound that gives it that extra "oompf".

    2) I also love how the gun animations react to your mouse/analog stick movements. What I mean is, in older FPSes, one could quickly look left or right with the camera and the gun would pretty much stay in its sedimentary state. But with BF3 (can't remember if BC2 did it as well), when you quickly look in a direction, the gun sways and reacts to the sudden jerks of the body. Just another nice touch to suck you into the experience.

    3) I love prone. Going prone is great. I don't know if anyone has seen the HBO series Band of Brothers, but there's this one part in episode two when Easy Company was assigned to disable some artillery pieces in Brecourt Manor. During this one scene where a group of soldiers are on their bellies crawling through a field to avoid enemy fire when all of a sudden one of the guys pokes his head up to see and he eats a bullet to the face. This EXACT situation just happened to me 5 min ago. I was with my squad crawling in a field when one of our squad mates spawned on one of us (in prone), quickly stood up and got sniped. We eventually made it to the other side safely, while in prone (yeah it took a while), and pretty much flanked their whole team....*tears of joy*
