I get 25-40 fps on medium 900p with my 6750m clocked at 850/950, and that's with an llano a8-3510mx @ 2.4ghz. You could probably get more frames because you have a better proc.
-
Hmm so is that overclocked? I am a little hesistant to overclock my GPU because of decreased battery life, but I guess I could just use the HD3000 and have that on for battery.
-
It shouldn't decrease battery life unless you plan on playing games while on battery, but then the performance would be horrible and would defeat the purpose of OCing in the first place.
You could probably get like 20-30% more performance depending on how good your particular chip is. -
I think I have the 6750 GDRR5 with 1gb of Ram.
-
Either way video card clocks can easily be reset to stock (or lower) for additional battery life.
-
Yes, indeed
I suppose Battlefield 3 will fare even better in other places of the world like Europe
-
Anything new on whether or not BF3 is coming to Steam?
-
The last I heard, Steam and EA are still talking about agreements and such. This was probably a week ago I heard about this. I doubt BF3 is coming to Steam because the game is very nearly going to be release and I don't think it'll make it for Steam to distribute unless an agreement is made.
-
So EA were actually telling the truth about why it's not available on steam? This is a surprise, it just looked like the were making excuses to try and force origin into the market.
-
What truth? EA wanted to control distribution of content, patches, etc not Steam. And part of that was probably a reason not to use Steam. EA just wants to capitalize on the market for their games. I can't blame them, but if that's part of the driving force behind Battlelog, that was a failure.
-
Do you think anyone at DICE was bright enough to raise a hand and mention that maybe battlelog wouldn't go down too well?
-
"That guy" was probably fired or sent to another division, so the old guys in suits can have their way. Then they came up with this gem:
GameSpy: Battlefield 3 Beta Interview - Page 1
Not even squad voice chat, I guess it makes it doesn't matter if you play with friends in mumble or skype, but pubs? -
Ouch! This sounds like the game is completely UNFINISHED! So much stuff for AFTER release, and stuff you'd expect to absolutely be there at launch. I'm not happy.
-
I'm sure the game will be good and playable at the release. There will still be a lot of work to do, but the game at release will be fine.
-
I hate to say it guys, but did you not see this coming?
The same old thing happens every time. Game devs say "No, no. This one will be different, this one will be perfect". When release date comes, it turns out to be a buggy unfinished piece of software, even more irritating than the last. You rage and vow never to buy a top tier game again. The next generation of games come around, the devs say the exact same thing and you fall for it again while they sit there laughing while they light cigars with bank notes.
It happens every time and people are still none the wiser, which is sad. -
No coma-rose, no in-game VOIP, simplistic aircraft controls... to name a few. To me that's not fine.
Those aren't bugs. Those are FEATURES that they just omitted. -
when does the MW3 Beta come out...??? LOL
-
what exactly is that? ive never heard this terminology before. care to explain?
edit: BTW do we not have a NBR platoon on battlelog? i thought we did, and if we didnt, we have to make one!! -
In BF2 and BF2142, pressing Q would not magically spot enemies, ask for ammo, tell people to attack a point, or call for a medic (In BC2 no matter which of these things you wanted to do it would do a different function). In those games it brought up a menu on screen that had a number of options the you selected by moving the mouse in the direction of what you wanted to say and clicking. There were things like "need ammo," "medic," thank you," and others. In the middle was a spot function, but a much more limited one than the absurd BC2 spot function.
The issue with BC2 was the fact that console controllers don't really have enough buttons to do a menu like this, so they overloaded the Q button to do way too many things at once.
Hopefully they will implement the commo rose properly and make it so you have to press Q and click the mouse in order to spot, so it will be harder to spam Q and spot the entire enemy team. -
This is Commo-Rose (sorry spelled it wrong first time). It gives you more particular command options. Joint Ops had a ton of commands.
-
ahh i remember that in bf2! i just didnt know it was called that.
...and they dont want to implement that?!?! ...blah. -
Just some random input here-
The beta is sorta crap... Too much exposure. It's like I'm playing the game through a cheap camera. I don't want to feel like I'm playing through a camera. I want to feel like I'm playing through the eyes of the soldier I'm controlling.
I have to say though. I played caspian border on release day. Not many folks got to do that. And it was 100% epic. Jets? JETS. 64 players? 64 PLAYERS.
My pants may or may not have gotten wet that day. -
There is one but I forgot what it was fully called
Can't check the name since I can't log in to my BattleLog. :-/
-
Bought Saitek Aviator today, hoping it will be good first joystick to learn flying.
-
How much you pay for it, where'd you buy it, and why aren't you using it?
-
ebay
Got it for $28 from a canadian seller, I'm pretty good at flying with keyboard but joystick has to be much better.
I think it was about time to buy one, since I started flying when bf2 came out
-
Nice grab, but that link above (gamespy interview) mentioned something about gamepad/joystick support either not being in at all or not fully implemented at launch...
-
Nice stick. Although I personally don't like how the throttle is in the front. I prefer it on the side, but that's personal preference I guess.
Yeah, the words "it's on the list" doesn't instill confidence. -
For 28 bucks that's not bad...
Just one question. How does the base stay flat? I've always had that problem with usb peripherals. Steering wheels, foot pedals, joysticks, etc... -
That's when you buy stuff like this:
Amazon.com: Duck 1100731 Non-Adhesive Select Easy Shelf Liner, Jumbo Roll, 12-Inch Wide, 20-Square-Feet, Taupe: Home & Garden
Or build your own portable HOTAS setup. I'll post a pick of mine later. Folds up nicely to store away with joystick, throttle, pedals, (even keyboard) attached.
-
Hmmm, missed the news on joystick implementation, and I didn't bother looking up controls in settings to see if the options were available.
I would be very suprised if it wouldn't support joystick, but stranger things have happened
408Cali I just ordered it, not sure how steady it is. -
I would actually like to see that please good sir.
-
Just took the photos. Nevermind the dust on it, I haven't pulled it out in over a year to be honest.
In use:
Folded up:
-
LIKE A BOSS!
-
Yeah! Nice thing is one USB port for all that. Have the four port USB hub on the side if you notice. I remember the days of gameports and all that hassle. I do plug it into power though, I don't think it could run all those off a self-powered port!
-
That's pretty cool. But how does it fold away? It doesn't look like there's room to fold away. Plus, the joystick is on the left. Are you left handed?
-
Top photo is in use. Bottom one is with the rudder pedals folded up and entire contraption turned around, that's how it folds. It takes up about 1/3 the width with the base folded up and can set it against the wall.
I built one prior to this but wasn't real thrilled with it. Then I actually stole the idea from someone that was selling these things, made at home. Not sure if he still does or if I can even remember the name of it. I can build anything out of wood quickly. It's fun and easy. Built a basic desk for my Xbox game Steel Battalion. On YouTube... lol. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkEOjPmAZ0Q -
So it's all together. That sounds interesting.
It doesn't seem worth the effort though. Especially cause it hasn't been used in a year. And I doubt that sticky tape will work. If trying to maneuver a helicopter in high stress environments, the joystick will tilt.
I really want a joystick but I feel like it'll have to be bolted down to actually work how I want it to. -
Oh, lol. I've had this for probably over five years, just haven't used it much since I've had kids. I used that mainly for hard core flight sims like Falcon 4. That stuff I showed you earlier is just a quick fix on a desk or something, keep it from sliding around.
I used velcro to hold down my joysticks. They don't budge. Takes a lot of effort to peel them off.
Only way you'll get it to stay is buy one of the big heavy expensive joysticks or literally fix it down with velcro or bolts or straps or something. For BF2 I just use an old USB Microsoft Sidenwinder Precision Pro joystick sitting on my lap. You don't need a full fledged HOTAS for that, really. -
Lol I'm one that would use velcro for that purpose. Now where to find cheap fast velcro...
-
Home Depot. They have industrial strength there. Just clean off the surfaces really good with alcohol that you're adding the adhesive to. Although beware once you stick that industrial strength stuff, don't expect it to come off easy or at all. Last time I used it, it pulled the wood off the desk I was using, lol. (not so funny at the time, lots of expletives used)
-
Hmm... Good to know dude. Thanks.
Although this is a notebook forum, that permanent stuff may not be the best idea lol. -
Just the regular strength stuff should work fine though. If you ever have to take off the velcro, just douse it with alcohol and let it sit for a few minutes, then it should peel off fairly easily.
-
Regarding commo-rose they said they want it for the launch. They're trying to do it, so give them faith for now, and wait to see if it's really implemented. Then, you can cry about it, eventually.
In-game VOIP it's not a game breaker for me, because I use TS3 with my friends and clan's mates.
Aircraft control is not so simplistic as you said. A lot of people have been unable to fly them properly during the beta. And it seems there will be also joystiq support on the launch. -
BTW NBR'ers!!
MY ACCT NAME FOR ORIGIN GOT SWITCHED TO 40pilots, SO ADD MEEE
that used to be my old name for bf2, and i pwned at jets, so i wanted to bring back the fear
here are my old stats for BF2 -
