that and sometimes the pilot that i was chasing, if he bailed out he sometimes clipped one of my wings... and it never ended well for him.
-
Yes, but 1855 times!?!?!
-
nah, most of them were true road kills, so i just flew low to the ground.
-
I've been waiting forever for this game to come out... it seems they always delay it
-
Erm, no they've always had an Oct 25 release date.
-
I cancel my preorder on D2D on ordered on Amazon. And now, I saved a whopping...
$4!!!! -
Still only one Battlefield 3 soldier per Origin account? - Battlefield 3
what. the. crap?
So you cap out at level 50 or whatever, and then... that's it. No new soldier for you, no more choice to start over and unlock stuff? I hope you don't want to play with friends who get the game late on a "noobs only lv 30+ banned" server if you are 50, you are sol!
Also I found what is perhaps the most bass-ackwards way to change your origin account name (which is going to be used for your ONE soldier name):
-
WHY is the SKS a sniper rifle in this game???
Is this a joke by the game makers?
I mean really? the sks a sniper rifle ?? LOLLOL. Yeah, hey guys lets use a sub $150 mass produced rifle chambered in 7.62x39 that gets 4 MOA as a sniper rifle... yea that sounds like a good idea... -
lmao, dude trust me, it will take you a VERY long time to get to lvl 50, and past that, there are still many unlocks. if you ever played bf2, it will be like that to get to the top. take a look at my stats for BF2. I played that for 3 years very moderately (meaning most weekends a good 5-6 hours a day, at times even longer), and i didnt even get to 4 star, NOR did i get anywhere close to unlocking everything.
so quit bickering about this guys. you will be surprised. -
If BF3 is anywhere close to BF2 in terms of ranking up and unlocks than prepare yourself for years of gameplay to get to lvl50
I've been playing bf2 on and off since launch and I'm just First Sergeant

Battlefield Blog
Just published
And now all 9 maps are revealed!
-
Beautiful, destructive maps.
-
Would you prefer they make an entire separate category of weapons for "non-sniper rifles with sniper scopes"?
-
nice...
btw, how do you think a gtx 590 would fair on this game?
hope everything could be on ultra.
-
I think youre going to lag.
lol. -
Too bad this won't work in conquest. How on earth would you get back up? This also seems like it would be a fun ride down in a helicopter
-
Oh great. A perch for a couple dozen snipers.
-
LMAO! +rep, that left me crying because its sooo frikin true.
lol, that made me laugh too. but u never know man! im just nervous because i dont know what kind of frames to expect on ultra in this game... so im just over worrying i guess..
btw: it looks like ima get a 590 for this game.
hope i get some mad FPS.

does this really matter to you? it's a team-based shooter, but it's still arcade style. they're going for immersion, but not strictly realism. If this is the type of detail that is interesting to you, you should be playing ARMA.
I don't really care how much the weapons cost in real life, and how that effects whether they are included and in what category. Does it bother you that they are using the bell AH-1 SuperCobra (out of production) instead of it's upgraded counterpart, the AH-1z viper? Is it really going to change anything about the game at all?
I'm more worried about the clunky split menu system. -
I look forward to seeing how destructible that cliff is.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
My guess? Very little. -
I got some new info from the DICE uk forums and from the Battlefieldo podcast
-Beta and final game "black and white" change.
-Smoother, less choppy
-Hit registration improved drastically
-No changes in Destruction 3.0, same as Beta
-Mortar- deployable; crosshair moves on minimap to target; 50% damage to one-hit kill; big explosion (bigger than grenade, not as big as OP Metro explosion)
-Squad system works now, goes up to Hotel squad; can see other squad-mate's perks
-Commo-Rose not in yet
-Javelin locks-on on like Stinger, can fire directly or indirectly (from above)
-TV Guide missile on Attack Chopper less range than BF2 missile; not one hit kill and weaker than in BF2
- The Buzzard (heli from GTAIV Tony) will be in the game it will be used a transport heli for the US side
- The Javelin will have both firing modes
- Minimap and a big map are much better and clearer now, close to the BF2 one.
- 3d-spotting tweaked more, spot goes away for sure now when out of line of sight
Maps:
Kharg Island will be the biggest map in the game and it will have 7 cappable bases
Operation Firestorm is smaller than Caspian Border be it will be a vehicle map but each side will have 6 tanks also it will have LAVs, choppers, jets. Im not sure about the rush version
Operation Metro will be the only map without vehicles
I'll add more info later -
what do you mean by that? there are two modes? what and what? -
So no blasting houses to nothing?
That's quite a downside... -
Fixed for you.
What do you mean by the destruction engine is the same as the beta..? The one that lets you destroy less than BC2..? -
Direct firing and Top Attack
Yeah, like in the BETA you can destroy walls but not the whole building like in BC2 -
Think it has anything to do with people destroying buildings to destroy the Mcoms like they do often in BC2?
at least 1/2 mccoms on each section of the map (roughly, some sections have, some dont) can just be destroyed if you just target the building itself and make it collapse.
Muchhhhh easier to clear. -
If they did it because of that reason, it would be mildly retarded (though these days that seems to be par for the course...) and would seem like another step backwards from bc2 (again par for the course ea!)
I always thought it was pretty cool that you could bring down a building to take out the objective inside; if it was that much of a balance issue then mcoms wouldn't be inside destructible buildings! Or they'd be in those hut-like buildings that simply crumble and don't crush whatever is inside, I forget what map that is in bc2. -
I mean they advertise the Frostbite 2.0 engine and all that glory bull crap but they barely make the maps destructible..
Destructability was a key point that made it different from alot of fps games. -
I can't find the source, but there was a quote from a DICE dev stating that they didn't like how all the buildings would get destroyed in BC2 resulting in next to no cover/hiding places for advancing, and the match would only be halfway finished.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
so the main menu is being left out? it's pretty broken
-
Ive almost never (keyword almost) had a map where all the buildings were destroyed leading to no cover.
That is not a very good reason on DICE's part for nerfing the destruction. -
Yeah, I didn't experience that at all until they allowed ticket counts to be modified then it became a common occurrence.
-
Ticket counts went down from building destruction? I don't recall that. Although even when the building was destroyed you could still use it as cover, go inside it, etc.
I can see not allowing large structures to fall, but smaller ones, let 'em fall! Although it would be awesome in Caspian to knock over that huge radio tower and kill like 20 people in one go! lol. -
I wanna destroy that cliff in the 500m base jump map T_T
IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK FOR DICE!? -
Apparently, you can

The first few were from single player, and the tower falling is a cutscene. But if I don't see that level of destruction (sides of buildings sliding down is awesome) I'll be overly disappointed.
-
I'm not so sure it's a cutscene because some times ago the DICE devs on Twitter said that the antenna was meant to be destructible even in the multiplayer.
Twitter -
I really hope the majority of buildings in multiplayer are not fully destructible. I'm fine with blowing holes in walls, but I really got sick of entire maps getting leveled in BC2, leaving no cover for anyone and perpetuating a spawn/die cycle for both teams.
-
I can't remember BC2 maps being leveled so that there was no cover at all, anywhere. On bigger maps with all the vehicles like atcama you could blow up the buildings and the walls at C, and make a real mess of things, but the building rubble was very easy to hide in and provided about as much cover as a non-destroyed building. On smaller maps or rush mode maps like oasis, you had a ton of buildings and no tank... you got ONE light armor for the whole map, and again destroyed buildings left a sizable rubble pile. On that jungle level, you had a whole jungle to hide in so why were you in a hut to begin with?
I was/am still hoping that they meant fully destructible, though in my mind "FULLY" would mean that you could make craters in the ground with enough explosives. If you can't destroy at least as much as you could in BC2 it will be a step backwards without any real good reason; it was done in BC2 so don't give me the 'technical engine limitations' bull. -

Starting to look more like a true Battlefield game (although still no BF2).

lol, sorry. I just meant in general where ticket counts went up to 1000, which takes a pretty long time to finish a round. You'd have to constantly crouch on maps like White Pass and Arica Harbor after engineers Gustav the heck out of the barns and houses.
-
And part of that is because you couldn't go prone. Thank goodness for prone! But they still don't have lean, or firing from cover. I didn't like in bfbc2 where you should be able to have cover behind a rock or other obstacle, but your head would always peek up a bit so you'd get headshot when you should have been able to be fully behind cover.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
I'd also like to see a lean system, but I think the mechanics of the game are pretty much the most solid I have seen to date. I'm not too worried about them adding to the basic mechanics of movement and gunplay. I'm convinced it's good. I want to see bug fixes and a main menu.
-
I dont think I have ever had a map where everything was leveled and there was no place whatsoever to hide.
Dont even think thats possible in BC2 ( the no hiding part) -
So true. Let's get the basics right first!
-
okay, i just ordered an Aurora I7 2600K, with a GTX 590 just for this game
-
Are the buildings in BF3 going to be more elaborate than a 2 story building with 2 rooms on each floor? I would love to see some indoor close combat with hallways and the whole shebang.
I just thought about how much more harder it's going to be harder to get out of a collapsing building. -.-
UPDATE:
LOL, REALLY?
-
I think they should add a lean feature. One of the major changes for BF3 is more realistic movement, so going from prone to crouched and crouched to standing takes time and you can't fire during or shortly after the transition, so it is very hard to pop up over a barrier, fire off a few shots, and pop back down. A lean feature would make it easier to use cover, which I feel is necessary given the high weapon damage.
-
Too late for adding any major gameplay features. The game is basically a week from release, so from now on only minor game updates and fixes will follow. Plus, why would they out due themselves and leave little room for improvement on future Battlefield releases?
