Nice! Did you notice in that clip with the sniper and thermal image scope he took out two guys with one shot.

 

Let the preload race begin! Note: if you purchased BF3 via a digital distributer, like amazon, d2d, whatever- just take the CD key and put it into origin. I'm not sure what happens if you download the giant file from the digital distributer, but you have to have origin installed anyway, so just having origin manage the download and install seems to be the straightforward solution.

 

YES! The trailer with the old theme! That always pumps me up! I never been so hyped up for a game like this since MGS4.

 

Have you been able to pre load yet? It seems like the word on the EAUK forum is that pre load will start around 17:00 gmt (12 EST); I have not been able to pre load yet nor have I gotten any email...

EDIT: actually it seems I have gotten the email, but they sent it to the OLD email address that I had listed as my email when I bought the game, but I have since changed it... I hope this isn't the case for EVERY origin related communication...

 

It opened at 7AM PST / 10AM EST / 1500 GMT (I presume) - for me.

 

OK, this had better be good. I ordered on Amazon, activated on Origin, and am downloading now. I missed the $41 deal but $49 isn't too bad with the DLC. I had an on-going beef with EA/Origin, but they finally made it right by giving me copy of Crysis 2 for free, unfortunately they still can't get my Crysis Warhead to work, but they are trying at least, that earns them enough grace from me to at least buy one more of their games. If this one doesn't deliver, then I am done with em though.

I am really a CoD kinda guy. But it is easy to see this game is optimized for the PC and CoD is clearly a console franchise, so I think it is time to make the switch. I have MW3 pre-ordered from newegg@$48, hopefully this game can make me cancel the pre-order.

 

Just started my Pre-Load!

 

OK I pre ordered on the 24th of september and I am not yet able to download yet... How is it possible that someone who bought it on amazon is able to download an ORIGIN game before someone who bought it on ORIGIN!!! Thanks a lot EA....

Just started pre-loading...I got the email hours ago, but Origin wouldn't let me download until a few minutes ago. I tried restarting it multiple times.

 

In that case, can I have one?

All joking aside, this is pretty strange... I received the email yesterday, but nothing since. It seems like most everyone who was going to receive an email has already, but I haven't I have checked every email address that I have ever given EA and STILL nothing.

 

if you don't have a super urgent need to start the preload (game isn't released till monday night at midnight, pacific time) then I would give them 24 hours to figure it out, then maybe contact support

Game download is 13.5 GB.

Even with a 768 kbps internet, you'll finish before the game is released as long as you start the download at some point tomorrow. Most people with high speed access should finish much faster (a few hours)

 

Why this need to share with the world that you have preloaded the game 4 days before release? It's not like it brings any new information at all.

I' far more interested in hearing if anyone has gotten the leaked single player campaign working. I would like to check it out before I preorder to see if the game is going to run better on my notebook than the beta did.

 

I imagine it is the same reason people stand in line waiting for a movie on opening day or something similar. You are a fan, you want to share your excitement with others who are equally excited. If you don't feel the same way, then you probably wont understand anyway.

I can't do it because I have small kids in diapers, but my wife is a huge Twilight fan, I'd love to take her to the new movie next month on opening day just for the nostalgia of it.

People have been looking forward to the game for awhile, it makes sense they want to talk about it.

I just finished downloading too. It happened pretty quick <4 hours, but I have a 13mbps internet connection.

I loath Gamestop preorders and the nerve they have to charge full price while everyone else sells cheaper. Stupid money grubbing ers.

 

eehhh i can't complain, I've fuked'em over soo many times, i can't believe they still let me in the store, i live a block away from them lol.

n i still play a little bit of console(ps3) soo lots of trade in's...

 

I just downloaded the manual via Origin, all it is an epilepsy warning in a dozen or so languages. I hope we can expect something better later on.

 

I doubt they mind too much if you trade games often.

 

lol i just did that too, but its not the real manual its just the disclaimer that they have for every origin game, as origin itself is still a beta product.

Boxed version. I was tempted to cancel for the digital download when they got the price drop first, but this felt like a boxed version purchase for me. I have 15 dollar credit from my purchase of Homefront that dropped my order to 44.95. Probably the only saving grace of buying that game. I also have about 18 bucks worth of Amazon points to drop the price even lower.

 

I really want to buy this, but I don't think it would be very playable with my current laptop.

Why not? OC your card a bit, drop the res to 720p and be happy. I think that your i5 along with the 5650 will do just fine.
Sure dont expect crazy details settings, but i dont see how you couldnt run it decently.
I just hope for the sake of AMD users and sanity in general that they will release a decent driver for it without going thru 300 hotfixes.

 

Eh, I might go for it. I've got gift certs for Amazon that would make the game only $20 for me.

I'm not sure if it's possible to OC my card? I've never really tried. It runs hot enough playing BFBC2 though.

And I don't even want to talk about drivers for AMD cards...

 

Download the AMD GPU clock tool. I can overclock my 5650 to 770 mhz core and 970 mhz memory with it.

I am honestly not sure how my laptop is going to play BF3 although my desktop shouldn't have any issues; I guess I will find out in a couple of days.

 

on Amazon - how are you pre-orders at $44? Mine is still at $49.95. The retail version not digital download..

My pre-order price for the Amazon digital download also stayed at 49.98. I am downloading the game from Amazon right now in preparation for 10/25.

 

Good thing they had a prerelease download. My download started at 8 am and finished at 3 pm.

 

Oh I had a 15 dollar promo automatically applied so it dropped to 44 before today's price drop.

 

I'd jump on any $45 digital pre-order price and cancel my Newegg pre-order so I can actually play the damn game on 10/25.

 

i guess some people saw a price drop on their preorders due to amazons best price match, amazon automatically gives you the lowest price from the date you preordered to ship date, i believe the very limited deal was on oct 12 so if u pre-ordered the digital version before that date u should have the reduced price(41.99)(if u didnt u could try contacting amazon). and apparently the deal was only in the US.

i would advice user to grab the key and download directly from origin as opposed to thru amazon downloader, it might save u a headache.....

 

I don't know where I will get the game from. Maybe I will walk to a game shop on launch date, but I just moved so I don't know shop which is best or the cheapest. I could get it as a digital download but then I wouldn't have the box, which I like. I have a nice internet connection though that should be fast enough to download it in a few hours. It's really hard to decide what to do and make a decision. I don't want to buy it from the wrong place and discover later that I could have saved a few dollars. Maybe I will wait until after launch when all the bugs are gone, it might be cheaper aswell! I really don't know you guys. I sort of wish I had pre loaded it already, like some of you guys. That would be awesome! (I'm really jealous). I guess I'll hold out a bit longer. If I can save five bucks down the line I could get a sandwich at the cafeteria, so maybe that is the way I'll do it.
