My download literally took 10 minutes from start to finish; I don't understand how the internet at my school can be this fast. It doesn't even seem possible...

 

I started at 1130CT and finished at 1220CT

 

schools have fast internet. i'm with ya. about 10x as fast as budget residential. it makes sense to me, though.

 

What surprises me most is the fact that the EA download servers could sustain the ~17 MBps download speed I was getting during most of the duration; I was expecting a MUCH slower download because of the thousands of people pre loading at the same time.

 

Seems like MW3 wont be much competition to BF3 on PC anymore due to this

Are Dedicated Servers Ranked or UnRanked?

Only matchmaking to public games are Ranked (meaning, you have to rank up to unlock weapons to rank on the leaderboards), choosing to play on a Dedicated Server is UnRanked. Meaning unlocks are completely controlled by the Server Admin. They can choose to unlock everything or limit class restrictions to whatever they like to fully customize the experience. You do not have to rank up in Public games to have access to weapons in Dedicated Servers, you have complete control over what is unlocked for you in a Unranked Dedicated Server.

Currently it is 18 players max (in Ground War) but it may increase post launch.

Had been downloading since yesterday on my 1Mbit line and then at 70%.. error..
When i tried to resume, all progress lost and it started from scratch..!!

Any torrents of the origin installer files so i can download the files separately and just have origin install it..?? Like i had done with the beta..

Another bummer is i wont be able to play till 28th in my region..

it's possible you could run it at 720p on low,

just going by your 3dmark06 score in your sig though (don't know if that's really a good enough judgement, but still) as I've got approx 14k on 3dmark06 and it still requires a mess around with settings to get it running smoothly

, same thing happened to me! Thats why Orgin still has work to do compared to Steam. Took me all day to download then bam, error. Happened twice already. This is my third try hopefully no error.

 

Hmm. I let it download all day yesterday, no errors or anything. I don't have the fastest connection, but it finished and installed.

 

I also have a low bandwidth connection (still plenty fast for games, but not good enough for onLive or streaming 1080p video). Anyway, my experience was several hours and no errors.

 

Actually there is no problem if there are no stoppages while downloading from Origin,else there will be problems.

 

I paused about halfway through and turned my computer off for a few hours, came back and it picked up and finished. *shrug*

 

Maybe if your internet goes out randomly while downloading there are issues? I would expect it to not be that way, but who knows.

hmm... i'm not convinced this is a problem. I'd rather just have them focus on making it good and fun than making sure it's a replica.

Its looking promising so far for the PC version

 

I hope using some of these don't prevent the server from being ranked. RegenerateHealth and 3dSpotting should always be off.

All servers will be forced on ranked since DICE are having problems with unranked servers

aarghh!! 3 times!! 3 times i've tried.. all 3 times it gets upto about 70% then unexpected error and it resets, deleting all downloaded data automatically!!

All 3 times net wasn't interrupted even a single time..

does anyone have any alternatives except for trying again and praying..??

 

How about downloading it on a different computer and copy paste on your main after it finishes downloading.

Hi, I usually live in england but currently in japan and will be for the next 3 months, my friend is sending me a copy of the game. will I be able to activate it in japan? or have to wait till i get back in england?

I'm not very good at FPS games so I focus on the SP side. Is the Battlefield series known for a good and lengthy SP campaign? Has anyone mentioned if the PS3 version will look as good as the X360?

 

Bad Company series are characterized by a very entertaining and full of humor campaigns. Not very lengthy tho ( ~8h ).

BF3 seems more serious and more lengthy ( ~10h ).

PS3 version is supposed to be a tiny bit better due to more optimizations and attention made in that version. But in the end, both will look pretty much the same.

 

So the single player campaign will be around 10 hours?

 

Yep! That's what DICE stated a few months ago. 10-12hrs, depending on your play style.

 

My play style stinks so that's 35 hours for me.

So is the PS3 version the one to get? I have both systems but much prefer the 360 controller.

well there's having to install the texture pack on the 360 so you don't get 2002 style graphics.

..'course I think the ps3 version does this too in the background (when installing the game in general)

yeah. So long as you have an extra 8 or so gigs free on your 360 hdd you should be fine.

 

I found this AMD vs Nvidia screen shots review and would have thought the appearance would be the same for both cards.
I presume this would be the same on laptops 6990m vs 580m or is the driver slightly different ?

Love the AMD without the fog/mist and dislike the higher contras, nvidia more realistic but horrible fog/mist and some over saturation.
Hopefully it can be tweaked some more once in game to get rid of this issues.

 

I'm wondering if Nvidia/AMD will have any newer driver releases before Tuesday.

He is standing in very different spots in the different pictures. Look closely. There's no significant rendering differences between brands. They may have slightly different texture filtering options and anti-aliasing methods, but the differences you're talking about are because the scene is different.
