TV missiles also have a tendency to blow up in your face as soon as you launch them, killing your chopper... just another bug that needs to be patched soon.
-
I could do with a BattleField from the 1940s.
An era where IRNV, TV missiles, explosive 12 guage rounds etc don't exist. I think that would be my perfect Battlefield.
- Increase squad to 6
- Commander have bird's eye view
- Only 2-3 snipers per team limit
- Snipers limited to 4x. Sniper scopes have glare so can spot them.
- Assault/Engineers limited to iron sight
- No cross hair
- No remote spawn points
- No squad spawn points
- No bullet drop. Just focus on ensuring people actually get hit.
Gameplay modes
Tug of War
- Each side has deatmatch. No spawn, 1 kill you're don. But get this, there are 5 sections of the map. After one team wiped out you can proceed to the next part. If the next round other team wins, you move back again.
- 5 minute limit per round. Whoever has more kills wins the round, so incentive to not camp.
- This goes until one team reaches one end, touchdown!
- 20 minute limit, whichever side is further wins. So you want to play, no camping!
Nuke the Base
- Each side has a base that is split into 3 parts.
- A nuke appears randomnly on the map. Only one nuke spawns at a time.
- Each team fights to get the nuke. Only one nuke available.
- Team brings it back to their base, Capture the Flag in TF2, except when you bring back nuke to base, the nuke is launched and destroys a part of the opposition's map/base.
- This goes on until the entire base of the opposition is killed.
Dodge Bullet
- Two teams, one magic bullet.
- Every player has an assault/carbine rifle of their choice
- Every player has a revolver with no ammo. Revolved used to shoot the magic bullet.
- Magic bullet spawns on the map randomnly
- All players when you die respawn immediately at your base.
- Each side battles for the magic bullet. Whoever gets it, load your revolver and shoot an opposition. If you are hit by magic bullet, you're out of the round. No respawn for you.
- This goes on until game is over.
- 20 minutes per round. Whichever side has most points wins. Each magic bullet kill gives you 3 points. So the incentive is to kill, not camping. Camping = no points. Must get magic bullet.
Marathon
- Run to the finish line.
- Respawn after death at the beginning of the race.
- Whichever team has all members at the finish line wins.
- At the starting line are two based.
- Middle of the map is a funnel so you have to share the same lane.
- 20 minutes per round. Each player across the finish line is 3 points. -
Another thing they should fix is to allow freelook while still able to control the air vehicles.
I just starting to getting annoyed by the quirks going on....especially those mixed mode servers that goof up the filters and allow them to squeeze players on maps size that never intended to support with their loose enforcement. -
You can freelook in an air vehicle by holding down right click and moving your mouse, but only in firstperson/cockpit mode, it'd be stupid to let you do it in third person. Or do you just mean that you want to be able to bank and do turns while freelooking..? I'm not even sure if that's possible or a good idea.
My major annoyance continues to be the auto"balancing" system and its tendency to break up groups of friends, not actually balance the teams... it's so bad I won't play on a server with it enabled, which can bring about another set of problems (team stacking). -
Join the server as a party. Pretty sure keeps your party together in a squad.
-
WHat if your Party is more then 4 people or what if you join a server that has a real strict Server Rules in keeping teams balanced?
-
Nope! I wish it worked this way (and it makes the most sense) but it doesn't - many times I've partied up with shob and deagle and josh and others and we'll get split up into different squads, different teams. Sometimes we'll join a server and we're in the same squad and team by some miracle, only to have one of us be "balanced" to the opposing team the next round.
Shob likes to joke about the welcome message on battlelog stating "it's never been easier to play with friends" because it has never really been more frustrating or challenging in any multiplayer game I've ever played. Even in BC2 if you clicked > join friend it would place you in the same squad and team if there was an open slot, and would keep you together... just like many other things in BF3 it feels like they took 1 step forwards 3 steps back. -
I still never see you on the Mumble. Also level 43? You play too much!
-
TV missles Bounce, LOL off of tanks if not proper Depth. I can just imagine that happened in real life, missle away, it bounced! The Pilot just SMH....
-
Are you EU? I'm EST so the only time we see EU folk like deagleson is when he is up for whatever reason at 6 am playing with us.
I really hope they take my suggestion to improve platoons... it should list ranks beside our platoon member list as well as other things, to see who's ranked what. -

I seem to be getting more and more crashes with BF3 as time goes on...
-
well you know how the AA is only 4x, if you go into the nvidia settings and make it force 32x it looks amazing
-
So do RPG's.
-
Even with a Javelin lock you usually miss the target.
Even tried with a SOFLAM.
The tank was locked for a long time but the Javelin would hit the ground behind the tank. D; -
The hit detection is really wonky. Sometimes I can't hit a tank at point blank range with an RPG, and sometimes I can tag a chopper 500ft away with a TOW.
-
I really need to start recording my sessions, but I just don't want to waste all that hard drive space or going through the effort of editing. But last night it literally took four or five shots from a shotgun to kill someone even at point blank range. Several times someone would start charging me, I started blasting shotgun at them from about 20 feet away and kept pumping and they finally die after the 5th shot with my health at 2% or dead too.
-
I wish they would fix shotguns. I know they are good up to around 100ft accuracy. But last night I died way to often from Recon losers who discovered you can snipe with the shotguns.
-
LOL, I can't kill people 10 feet in front of me with them, not sure how you're supposed to do 100feet!
-
I had a dozen deaths from recon losers using shotties as sniper rifles, far enough away I couldn't see them with a 4x scope.
-
You sound like you have the singlemost, worst battlefield experience of all time, ever. I've never really had ANY of the issues you've been describing. To be clear, I'm not doubting that they are happening to you, I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying the game and so far haven't had any gameplay breaking issues like you have.
You must be the unluckiest player out there right now
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
qft. I've gotta say hit detection on my end has been rock solid. One of the best I've experienced, even, certainly for the Battlefield series, but even overall. I have experienced instability issues (crashing on load often, very rarely in game) -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
I could deal with the hit detection as I experienced with Bad Company 2 but in a battlefield, without any guns and just running around.....I must be Rambo..
Wait...even Rambo carries atleast a knife...
-
Not sure why you say that, check the battlelog forums (after you weed through all the other crap), that's all that's discussed. I'm far from alone. I have quite a few issues, maybe some people just shrug them off, but I find them unacceptable.
It comes down to quality. Would I be fine if this were a $10 Indie game? Sure I would deal with it. But the fact that it's a multi-million dollar endeavor, led in with false promises and ends up with this many issues, is pathetic. Imagine if you were watching a Transformers movie and it just paused mid-way through, sometimes characters were shown in wireframe, and other times the blue screen background was there instead of CGI. Only for the studio to say, bah, no big deal, we'll just add those scenes in later. Sure it's another form of entertainment, but it's the same principal. In fact games surpass movies in revenue year over year, yet movies hare held to much higher production quality standard.
I could go on and on, but won't. I guess we shouldn't complain about issues. Just accept them them, and let games (and other products) go out with mediocre quality and significant flaws....
You must be very unlucky and it's not really a problem because I don't have any instability with loading the game.
-
This is just like products these days. If you drop your phone, BAM, it's dead ( except the Galaxy S II and the Note
). Before, you could drop your gameboy onto a wall, and is still working, just like that gameboy that survived a direct bomb hit.
-
LOL. So true. I still have my 15 year old gameboy and it's been subjected to some pretty harsh accidents. Granted the screen is like 160x160 grayscale, but still.
As far as games are concerned, I blame the publishers. They have so much control over the dev houses, when the devs are really the creative talent, and I'm sure are embarrassed by the quality of product they're forced to release. I'm sure if DICE had their way, BF3 would have been delayed another three months to fix the prominent issues we see now, along with adding content to make it a true BF2 successor. Let's only hope EA allows DICE to put that much more effort into it in a mega patch, and the reason it's taking so long to get their first client side patch released.
For some reason people seem to find my criticism of the game entirely negative. I've posted on numerous occasions fun I've had. I even helped get a BF3 clan going. But I guess that just gets swept under the rug. Maybe I'm just too passionate about it with high expectations. -
Indeed...
This made me want to pick up my GameBoy Colour and then the GameBoy Colour Advance SP and play them... Nostalgia...
-
I've used my original gameboy to play Tetris on occasion (although seems to be missing now - damn kids
). For some reason no other version has that "feel". The twangy music, the horrible audio, lol. (You should play the Tetris song on piano Phistachio!)
Tetris! One of the best things to come out of the Cold War...

Happens to me sometimes, but upon pressing escape key, it will be fixed.
Regarding the Hit detection, there is some guide explaining that it is difficult to hit enemy while standing compared to going prone. But for me I don't experience much since I have my trusty foregrip helping the aim
-
Heh.. was playing tdm hc on tehran highway last night and got annoyed with snipers from the other team just decimating mine. Soooo... pulled out the M98B with straight pull and x12 scope and stood on the big rock at one end of the map and shot every single sniper on their team (they were all on the road/hill on the other side of the map). It was glorious. Because nobody thinks to look for a guy just standing in the open.

Anyone down for a game on the server?
Anyone? -
Thank God!
Incoming Tactical Flashlight Nerf -
So if I take someones dog tags, do they lose the tag? I just took someones, hardly ever knife anyone. Took a master carbine tag
-
No, they keep theirs.
But it shows that that type who did you last took and the number of times you took it.
You can't wear it until you unlock it. -
No, they still "keep" them. But you do get a trophy, you can review your tags taken on battlelog.
-
I have a nice collection of Dog Tags, 78 knife kills roughly
I do wear some unique ones as well :X like the Razer Serpent
-
Ahh ok. I only have two knife kills lol.

Look at this poor guy..
Battlelog / Sign in
He got score of 90072896503808 by accidentally joining a hacked server.
He is no.1 in world but wants his old stats back to bring back everything to normal. -

Exactly my issue with battlefield.
Battlefield 3: No weapon Bug (Released Game) - YouTube
Just a funny suggestion that I found.
" You didn't purchase the gun DLC? You'll have to have that to have a gun in multiplayer.
"
-
any one else noticed who god damn buggy the tv missile is?!
-
He could of joined this server
Battlelog / Sign in
Would of reset him back to 1.
From the looks of what they are doing, it seem to be a integer overflow exploit. -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
That guy was at 43 so going back to 1 would be as boring as reaching max stats.
-
I need to find a n00b server where other n00bs like me can play.
-
Haha yea I'm looking for one to
Let me know if you find one
-
Will do

Tuesday night at 9pm eastern. Noobs vs Hakira and Shobster, round 2!
JK Hakira and Shobster and not allowed on the same team! Nor can they use the IFV! -
Well that sucks. Hakira still owns regardless of my position. He...has...no...weakness.
-
Hakira is good.
-
That's easy as PIe to find all you gotta do is look for 24/7 Metro and you should be good, especially if it's of the 64 man variety. Just go in toss a few nades, toss a few med packs maybe 1 or 2 ammo crates, shoot off a few rockets and you should be golden in terms of getting a few points. That is unless you run into hackers, however the ones I've been in have admins in them constantly monitoring the usage and banning all users who use grenade launchers so you should be golden. I stopped going into these because they're skill-less
. I'm more of the Sniper/Recon type of player who values the headshot and 1 bullet 1 kill variety
BOOM HEADSHOT!
-
Haha. I love sniping too just don't have enough time to play.

11.11 Final drivers are out, hopefully these will be a lot better than 11.10 Final for BF3.
