I thought 11.10 were AWESOME for BF3. Had zero problems.

The 11.10 Preview drivers were good, but 11.10 Final drivers were horrible. They were extremely buggy and resulted in a multitude of visual glitches in the game. Why do you think they rushed 11.11 out so soon?
-
11.10 WHQL and 11.10 Preview for BF3 were identical. All the performance optimizations in Preview 3 were also in the WHQL. This is said straight from CatalystCreator (AMD). You can also compare the 3D Driver, Preview and WHQL were the same.
As I said before, the 11.10 WHQL were great for BF3. -

Ok, explain the bugs I experienced in 11.10WHQL versus 11.10 Preview Driver 3. Reverting back to 11.10 Preview 3 solved all my problems with 11.10 WHQL. -
11.10 Preview 3 gave me horrible texture flickering in BF3.

If you were using switchable graphics, any results from using unsupported/supported drivers are not very consistent than those who have traditional version.
-
Que? I'm not sure what this means.
-
I should of just said, it pretty hard to compare issues with AMD switchable using unsupported drivers than those who are using dedicated AMD graphics.
-
I am using switchable graphics with "unsupported drivers" (11.10 I think) and I don't have that many graphical issues and the game plays fine on low and 720p. I do get green flashes sometimes, but everyone does.
-
11 people on the NBR server now.
Come have some fun. -
Just finish with the download of BF3, and after all this graphic hype to BF3 i cant say i am that impressed with the graphics, especially compared to Bad company 2.
Yes the game looks good, but after all this hype i expected even better graphics. -
yea, i just dragged some of my friends in the server. Although if I do, I'm preoccupied in their vent channel. So no mumble for me.
-
I'm also using switchable graphics but I have yet get those green flashes that some complained. But gotten the disappearing crosshair that basically made normal mode to almost hardcore mode cause I keep trying to shoot as I pull out.
Anyways, BF3 ran just fine for me on 11.9-11.11 with fully updated CCC so far. Running on med on 1368x768.
I do love using Optimus though, I like to be able to watch some hd clips and do other stuff while waiting till the server switch maps. -
It took me 2 weeks to figure out that shift steadied aim...doh

I find the textures in BF3 to be of low quality. They also lack any 3D, it's all 2D textures. Nothing about this game says PC to me, especially with DX11 around.
DICE focused all their time on idiotic post-processing, lighting effects and bloom to trick you into believing it's good, and not notice how bad it really is.
If you read more about their lighting and transparency, they actually didn't do it. What I mean is, they broke down much of these into smaller components and just chose the bare minimum of what it takes into fooling most players into believing there is true radiosity, lighting, transparency effects. This is no Crysis 1.
This game has so much post-processing and bloom to cover up how bad it actually is. And you know it's really bad when they make it so you can't turn it off to reveal what's really going on underneath.
Witcher 2's attention to detail and textures and 3D textures is pretty much it for 2011. 2011 has been a wash of marketing hype, only to find a console port with low textures with enough post-processing, HDR and bloom to hurt your eyes so you can't see it. -
I'm getting those green flashes as well on both my desktop and my laptop. Anyone know of a fix, except to wait for new drivers?
-
Not a driver issue. It happens on both Nvidia/AMD. This is a DICE issue. Go complain to DICE.

Interesting article: GameSpy.com Advertisement
But: "We have already rolled out a number of client-side updates with new features and fixes"
LOLWUT? Where's the client-side updates? -
Are they talking about the filter updates lol
-
Yeah, but the server browser itself still shows nowhere near all of the servers that are available to play on. This needs to be fixed, but I am not even sure DICE knows about it as no one has brought it to their attention (most players don't even know about it for some reason...).
-
Post it on EA forums then. I'm sure you'll get some attention there from other gamers. (Not from EA though
)
-
After scrolling all the way down, it doesn't add another batch of servers to the list for you or is there really a lot more servers? I have it sorted for ping so after I scroll all the way down until it's exhausted I have to scroll back up for the lower ping server added to the list.
-
As you scroll it adds more to the bottom of the list.
This has been posted numerous times on the EA/Battlelog forums only to be met with "use the proper filters stupid". I give up on EA. They are clearly inept at listening to customer wants, needs, and necessity. -
Fun Fact: You can highlight the "Next round begins in:..." text when you are at the post game results.

Is there a way to find out the current score before entering a server?
Most of the time when I join, I am in the team that is almost loosing all of its spawning tickets. -
Nope. Just suck it up and take the loss. I wouldn't expect them to add anything like that either considering the other stuff they're reluctant to add.
-
Check this out better fps + better fxaa

If you scroll down it loads more servers, but this is still a set number and is NOT all of the game servers. BFBC2 had THOUSANDS of servers available, and if you believe the battlelog browser there are only a few hundred BF3 servers, most of which are empty.
Additionally it does not sort all of these servers (the ones that DO show up) until you have scrolled down as far as it will let you, which is absurd. It looks like they got lazy and took a ton of shortcuts with they crappy web based server browser and it has less functionality than in game browsers from a decade ago. I have a feeling it might be a browser limitation of some kind, where they COULD make all servers be filtered at once, but it would actually require WORK, something DICE seems unable to do.
I have posted this issue on the EAUK forums, but for some reason no one else seems to have noticed this issue. Quite honestly DICE are so happy with Battlelog and keep patting themselves on the back about it that they will never acknowledge something like this. To them, it is the best thing ever to happen to the BF series.
I am with HTwingnut on this; I have lost all faith in DICE. -

i've just bought BF3 and am waiting for the DVD to be delivered. my SONY VAIO SA laptop with switchable graphics runs on Catalyst 11.6-based official SONY drivers (the latest from SONY). do you guys think i can run the game fine on 11.6? the reason that i'm a bit reluctant to update to the latest is that it will break the switchable graphics.
-
Sony is not supported by AMD. You have to go with Sony for your driver updates, so just check Sony website monthly.
Once you get your BF3, register your copy with Origin since you'll have to run Origin anyway. Too bad you can't get your serial number ahead of time so you can start downloading/playing now
-
Are you sure it's still the case that AMD drivers won't work? With my HP I have to install stock HP drivers (which are AMD 11.6 Catalyst) and includes all of the other chipset, USB, and mobo drivers. Then I install the latest drivers from AMD. It just updates the GPU driver (maybe HDMI audio) and switchable graphics still work.
Can't hurt to try. If it doesn't work then just do a full uninstall of all ATI/AMD drivers, then reinstall the ones from Sony. -
Even the lightest oc of my GTX460m card give me artifacts in BF3 with the latest beta drivers. Anyone else with the same experience?
-
darxide_sorcerer Notebook Deity
i know that AMD does not officially support SONY VAIO laptops. but you can, in fact, install the official drivers on the laptop, the consequence being the switchable graphics will stop working. i'd rather have that functionality, so i want to keep my 11.6 drivers and not update to 11.11 right away. so my question was whether anybody has played BF3 with 11.6?
yeah, i'm already using Origin to play FIFA 12, so i know how it works. but i got a physical copy of the game off eBay, so i have to wait for it to arrive...
thanks
-
darxide_sorcerer Notebook Deity
there is a thread in SONY subforum about the same issue. except for VAIOs, it's a bit tricky, and you can't just install the official AMD and Intel drivers on top of the SONY ones. there is some INF modifying that one has to do to keep the graphics switching working. i might end up doing that if 11.6 tends to be useless to play BF3. -
I've used 11.5s on my desktop in sig worked fine for BF3
You'll get a "please install 11.7 or later " message just click OK
-
HP is supported by AMD. Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, few other companies opted out of the program. Probably can find ways around it, but AMD officially does not support them, or rather Sony/Toshiba/Panasonic etc do not support the AMD driver program.

What's going on when I'm being shot at and run behind cover and the red light indicating I'm being hit registers? I'm behind cover and 1-2 seconds later I die with no bullets hitting me. I'm not being hit and the bullets weren't penetrating the cover I'm behind and I am behind the cover for several seconds? The guy shooting at me is directly in front of me, not at an angle.
There are no signs of lag....
Is this lag? Bug? A cheat?
Very frustrating and incites the good ol' response: "you've gotta be kidding me, what a bs kill" -

I get that issue a lot too. It's called bad netcode. Something I've spouted off about several times but people think I'm crazy, or just an unlucky stupid grumpy old man.
Part of the issue is the client side hit detection. It never seems to be in my favor either. Basically due to latency and server processing, someone sees you in their sights and unloads, you go back behind cover thinking you're safe even before they shoot (as seen on your end), but apparently since they see you as being shot, the server chews on it a bit and says you're shot. And even though masterchef seems to think I'm nuts for saying it can happen 1-2 seconds later, it does.
I had an experience recently on the NBR server even where it showed I hit someone with a jeep dead center in front, but no indication that they died, I jumped out and was shot dead by them. The other player said I never even hit them with the jeep.
Stupid, dumb, crap. Probably nothing will be done to improve it either.

And another annoying issue(?) is the rocket launcher.
I shoot a rocket launcher and it lands 4 feet from someone and they don't die. In what universe can a ROCKET explode 4 feet from someone and they are still in one piece?
It's me vs. opponent. I fire off a rocket and it lands slightly to the left of him and he just casually fires off his pistol, killing me in 2 shots. Then I see his health at 75%...... so this rocket only damaged him 25%.
Then I proceed to scream at my poor notebook. -
Well, I got your back on this one
Happens to me all the time. -
Prolly the result of people (like me) abusing the CG in BC2 with the added explosive damage perk, using it like an anti infantry gun (before it got nerfed).
Also take note that they might have been using the FLAK perk, which further reduces explosive damage taken.
About then killing you with two shots from the pistol remains a mystery to me. -
Yeah RPG at someone's feet and they keep charging through, and usually they don't have flak protection (as shown after they kill me). Heck I even got the jump on a handful of guys clustered together getting in behind them, they were in a confined space, lobbed a grenade right in the middle of them, and boom. Nobody died, but most turned around and shot me dead. And I've never been able to get an RPG to take out a chopper even if it's hovering directly in front or above me. The RPG goes straight through the chopper as if it doesn't even exist.
-
RPG deals little damage unless it's a direct hit. Used to throw RPGs at the floor as well for max possibility to hit, but realized that it doesn't kill if you aim the floor, you need to aim the person. This is good in a way though, if RPG shooting ground can kill that easily engineers would be way too good.
-
I've had rockets do zero dmg. Same thing, dude kills me with 2 shots from his SMG and when I die, I see he has 100% health.
