All I have to say is "Oh Man!"![]()
Although it doesn't look quite like Oman. Seems buildings are too close together, each cap point was quite spread out in BF2, with four on the shore, and three spread across the back, with airfield in the extreme back.
-
What is limited edition? If I got BF3 after release, not pre-release, the DLC is not free?
-
Gulf of Oman FLASHBACKS!!! :3
Cant wait.
They sold all the first copies of Battlefield 3 as Limited Editions, and it was bundled with a key for the Karkand pack. -
It is quite possible, it is hosted on a shared server that is over saturated.
Try joining servers that are hosted on dedicated private boxes. -
I did not have a key for Karkand, so does that mean I won't get this DLC? That blows. So for anyone who didn't pre-order even though they may have paid full price will have to pay extra for the DLC?
Lame. -
ALL pre-orders get the Karkand map pack. I don't have a key yet either, but I'll be certain to get it somehow. I bought it through Amazon.
-
LOL! Saw this at Battlelog:
Also note the bulldozer, forklift, tractor, whatever it is in the new Oman trailer:
-
Now I really want IRNV nerfed since I already unlocked the spec op camo.
There are like only 2 camo colors that causes people to get confused and not shoot until you shoot.
As for the Karkand Pack, all you really need is a limited Edition key.
It should look like this ... it will get automatically get applied once it gets released.
This info is according to the Karkand Pack pamphlet on my retail disk package.Attached Files:

What camo is good for that?

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
It's not free. Your may have bought it already. If you preordered the game, you bought it already. -
My buddy bought me a Limited Edition BF3 copy (full price) from Gamestop just last week. Says at the top "Includes back to Karkand etc etc".
-
It was free if you pre-ordered. That was one of the selling points. Look at it however you want, but game costs $60 still and have to shell out $20-$30 for the DLC if you did not pre-order.
-
Where did you hear that the pack will cost that much?
-
I didn't, just guessing. But I can guarantee it will be minimum $20.
-
14.99 for the DLC.
-
Ah, Origin shows it for $14.99... my bad. -
Fact. Was announced along with the Oman video in Battlelog.
-
Its been a long time since i played Battlefield 3 now thanks to Skyrim, but not that i have had the chance to play a little MP im suprised on how little the patch actually fixed.
Cant even take down a simple helicopter now, and SOFLAM doesent help Stinger / IGLA so i wont even bother to use it.
Nobody use Javelins either because of how underpowered they are compared to a regular RPG.
Hopefully this will change when we get a real patchmod, not some ducttape wrapped around the game. -
The problem with javs is that you have a do a little bit more work to deal more damage than the normal rpg.
But the lockon time makes the rpg the better choice.
Stingers are pretty much useless ... -
The patch has made things worse for me. Before, the only issue I ever had was occasional green flashes while zoomed in. Now I'm getting disappearing weapons and the occasional inability to move followed by sudden death even though no one's shooting at me and it doesn't say who killed me.
-
The patch didn't fix anything; all it did was break a lot of stuff. The mobile AA is now even more of a killing machine; I just played on a server where a guy went 21 and 0 with it from mostly infantry kills. None of the real issues were fixed either.
-
Well, the buff for the mobile AA didn't do anything anyways
It was already overkill to inf. It just taking the overkill to the next level.
What the patched killed for me is that the majority of the my team never joins in a squad.
I rather be randomly assigned to a squad so I could share some squad perks to cannon fodders for a slight advantage.
It also erks me not to win the ace squad ribbon, when I am the only squad on the team in the first place. Dice have a dumb way to determine ace squad by making the unassigned count as a squad but never issue a ribbon to them anyways. It gets pretty funny when I get them anyways. -
the Javelin does less damage than the RPG, so your actually doing more work for less damage. There is a youtube video somewhere that shows all the damage percentages.

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
It is actually all Limited Editions whether it was pre-ordered or bought new after release makes no difference. -
I'm aware of the crappy side damage of the direct fire mode.
There is a bonus damage if you hit the top, not much though. (You need soflam or a special fire method).
What killed the jav so much is that it is so easy to dodge it... even in a disabled tank
Plus I did say the damage per sec make the rpg the better choice. -
I dunno, I can never seem to avoid a Jav. On the other hand, I can run like hell in the tank, seek cover, and still get nailed. Although I started using the Jav myself recently and hit a tank four times and it barely made a dent. The Jav should be a good weapon since it works against ground and air.

To stay competitive with all the Zombie games they should add a chainsaw weapon
Muahahaha. -
I saw that ...
I don't remember if I stole your kill in the end. I remember something just running up that hill near A and just rpg the tank for the kill. There was 2 people, one repair in the side and other driving.
The only time I ever use the jav if I was spawning off the tower in CB. -
Javelins cannot target Air units unless they got a SOFLAM lock, and its super easy to dodge it because of the SOFLAMs limited range.
Way to encourage teamplay. D; -

I've used the IRNV and don't find it to be the overpowered beast people make it out to be. It sucks for accurate shooting at medium to long range, even if it does show where people are.
-
Weird because I took down a chopper and a Recon UAV (or whatever it's called) with a Javelin. One of the few times its worked. It will get lock sometimes, other times nothing. Maybe something else that's broken, I dunno.
-

I used to have a lot of fun with the UAV on BFBC2
-
Yeah that one was fun. This time around, it doesn't shoot, and it's a personal gadget for the Recon class. It mainly spots people. Can also be used for a soldier to stand on and take them to otherwise unreachable spots. It wasn't designed for that, just a loophole, but not sure if it was corrected in the last patch. You could also kill people with it by ramming them but I think that's been nerfed too.
I primarily play Engineer, and Support sometimes, because assault and recon are not real effective in most battle situations. As much as I like to be a one man army as an Engineer, they need to balance things out a bit more, because the game just doesn't encourage playing much else. Hell, most the time I'm spamming the Q key at an Assault or Support for a med pack or ammo pack and they just run off. By the time I text chat they're long gone. That's another thing they really need to add request for medic and ammo in the commo-rose. This way your soldier will yell it out, as well as showing up on the HUD and map as requesting it.
I agree to a point. I don't think soldiers should stand out as prominent especially at a distance. I mean they glow bright yellow. That's some pretty sensitive equipment, especially in a warm environment to detect a solider that well. I used it for a while, but have wanted to start unlocking other guns so just deal with iron sights or basic sights like HOLO. I don't like using zoom scopes because I don't feel it improves my aim at all, and also gives away my location with the super bright scope glint. I also don't use flashlights or laser sights any more either because imho they tend to give away your position more than be helpful. Even when someone has their flashlight in my face, I just shoot in the direction of the light and half the time get the kill. -
Recon is pretty much useless.
Sniper rifles cant use silencers because of the massive bullet drop.
Even at close range with a M39 and also decreases damage.
Also hard to get points helping the team with MAV or SOFLAM.
But silencer and a LMG is a lethal combo.
Support also gets the good stuff like C4 and arial n00btube. -
Yeah, I don't mind playing support time and again. C4 is a good challenge against tank. Best on servers where external camera isn't allowed.
Didn't hear about the aerial noobtube. What is it? edit: Oh you mean the mortar? -
You win internet fame.
-
Really the mortar?? I found it pretty hard to use unless in a 64 man server with narrow hallway open maps.
The IRNV have a sight range limit. You sometimes get hit marker or a kill on something that didn't show up at all.
Plus you miss big time if you strafe or just got hit while using it. -
I find IRNV most useful in conquest Damavand Peak. Looking down those corridors, otherwise it's complete suicide. I don't think it's too overpowered, just tone down the color of the bodies a bit and darken the further away they are.
And mortar isn't that great. I used it a bit when I first unlocked it, but it's far from a highly effective weapon. I break it out time and again when there's a bunch of guys clumped together behind a rock or something, and usually all it does is make them scatter and rarely get a kill, but at least they're scattered. I use grenade for the same reason, even if I don't get the kill it usually just forces them from their hiding spot. -
Support is the best class. You get the C4 and the mortar. Plus the LMGs are the best guns in the game.
-
The IRNV is not overpowered because of the accuracy you get from using it, it's overpowered because it's really good for target acquisition and finding people "camouflaged" with the environment.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Then it's a great anti-camper weapon. Remove the stupid kill cam and leave the IRNV as is. I even feel as if the kill cam in regular mode is stupid, I feel guilty every time I use it to find someone who just killed me.
Also, 3D spotting needs to GO. It sucks and clutters up the HUD too much. -
Bah! If you need to use a silencer then you are to close to the enemy in the first place (exception being the SKS + IR scope + silencer + Foregrip.) Whenever I play Recon I usually am far enough away so that it doesn't matter if people see me/hear my shots, they can't do much about it.
I will take my M16A4 (not A3) or the AN-94 over all the LMG's in pretty much every situation.
The ASVAL makes me happy. It really does. Sure, its underpowered, has a tiny clip, and can't use a foregrip, but it rocks if you use it correctly. Aim for the head + don't use the entire clip== many, many headshots and many people mad at you. -
I don't know how it clutters up the hud. Not many people spot anyways.
You can join the hardcore server or join servers that have it disabled. -
Exactly, some people like the vanilla BF3 (like me), while some people don't. There's always HC servers if you don't like killcam/3d spotting/regenerating health (which I hate).
-
I think regen health is sorta ok. It's the regenerative armor that's stupid. Although with the regen health, I almost feel that your health should decrease slowly if you're below a certain level, like a bleed out. Armor does this which makes less sense (well unless it's really on fire, lol).
-
I can't stand any of the assault rifles in BF3. They have less stopping power and less ammo than the LMGs. The accuracy isn't much better than the LMGs, either.
-
I disagree that 3D spotting needs to go. I don't see the problem with it. If anything, I think people need to spot more. It's hard to pick out an enemy vehicle lower than you if it's not spotted and you're in an aircraft.
-
I am havin trouble with the F2000. I haven't unlocked it, but it seems over powered. I have been using the IAR-27. I will line up an enemy with the IAR and open fire before he does, he will them sight me up with his F2000 and kill me before I kill him due to his weapons higher rate of fire. Very annoying to get the first shot off only to loose a duel, although I guess it is possible they are headshoting me every time, but I doubt it.
-
I don't think so. Depends on the environment. Without silencer, it will put a triangle over your head and light you up on the map. If you're around a lot of trees, rocks, bushes, you can conceal yourself well, while being plenty close to take people out.
Then again, I'm starting to like hardcore servers more. I seem to do better, because people are less trigger happy due to teamkills. Although I don't know how many times people have teamkilled me just to steal the chopper or gunner position, and nobody does anything about it! That's the primary thing that keeps me away from FF OFF servers.
