Battlefield 3 Discussion Thread

Just keep playing. Don't get discouraged if you die a lot. This is individual but may take hours.
Personally I'm a PC gamer myself, playing killzone on PS3 is super awkward for me and I look like a noob there so just keep playing!

Am I the only person who notices no difference in the game/temp/performance/lag except for the squad menu improvement?

This game pisses me off, I do not have fun playing BF3.

well they just added support for vibration on my xbox controller im impressed

 

I love the game, however, it is one of the only games that I play that still has hackers. It seems like they should really have this under control. The game used to kick me just because of one of my network settings, but doesn't detect blatant hacking.

 

Finally got to play with the new patch (haven't had time for the past week or so) and I have to say I am very impressed with the performance increase. Playing 64-man conquest on my desktop, I'm now getting a solid 60 fps with occasional dips into the 50s where before I'd get as low as 40 in some places. Well done, DICE.

Woohoo, I can finally play this again! I've been missing out for the past couple weeks as my GTX 580 died, and I just got my replacement.

 

That's just a bug- they'll patch it out. Don't worry.

I'm also upset about the hackers. I have one marked, waiting for him to get banned.

 

It's just so easy to die in BF3, it's like it's on Hardcore mode no matter what. What get's me the most though, is I get into so many one on one firefights where I shoot first yet the other guy still manages to kill me even if I don't miss. Lag/hit compensation or something is what it feels like...

I just played for a couple of hours, I died in about 80% of the head to head firefights I got in even though I shot first in most of them. I open up, they scope me and kill me and are left with like 50% health. Is it the guns I'm using, I'm not aiming right, I don't know what.

 

Since it takes at most 3-4 shots to kill a person in either mode anyways, might as well choose a weapon with a high rate of fire. Don't really need to aim with the sights ... it just waste time.

 

Damnit EA... it took under 1 month for the price of BF3 to fall to half. I guess that's about what it's worth right now anyways though, trolololo

As much as I would love to join this arena. I'm afraid the game still hammered down by bugs and tedious error messages. No way they can keep an event for long.

 

Seriously an eSport event with BF3? You must be kidding! With all the issues the game has, I don't see the point.

The same thing usually happens to me so I changed my strategy. I started to be more cautious instead of running around looking for fights. I always used to run around like Rambo and just start shooting at everyone and everything but I'd get so worked up after losing firefights I'd smash the respawn button repeatedly and start running around trying to get vengeance and so it was a neverending cycle of getting owned. Its very frustrating and gun setups do help a lot. When I get a new gun that I want to level fast, I usually just play Operation Metro on Conquest to get some easy kills at close range until I get the better scopes which help more with the bigger maps.

I changed my strategy to be more of a ninja so now I try to ambush dudes. I always stay near some type of cover (rock, bushes, buildingc etc) and only try to run from cover to cover. I also started taking the minimap more seriously so I'd have an idea of where enemies are and try to outflank them. I think crawling and crouch walking hide you from the minimap so a lot of times I slowly creep up like a ninja and take guys out with the IRNV scope + foregrip + silencer. The silencer hides you on the minimap so it's pretty awesome taking a guy out from the bushes while his butt buddy is looking around all tensed up and trying to prepare himself for the next ninja attack.

I dont thing EA is selling BF3 for cheap because its buggy, its more on getting more players to accept Origin.

Also Origin seems to have a 50% sale on select games for us Europeans too. :3

Anyone else having rubberbanding issues after the udate?
Not sure if it's just my net at the time I played but I usually play on 50ms+ servers and it rarely happenned before.

Yeah, I was getting some rubberbanding again. Also they said they fixed the spawn in front of enemies issue. I still spawn directly in front of enemies.

 

yup few times enemies spawned infront of me as well, so I don't think that was actually fixed.

You got your money's worth though I think. 90 hours considering most games only give you 4 hours of play and no replay value. Though I'm enjoying Skyrim a lot more than I enjoyed BF3.

 

after playing all of 15 or 30 min of this game I cant seem to get it to start anymore.

Game client starts but never loads into anything. I thought because I had my settings set to triple monitor and tried to play single screen. However going back to triple screen didnt fix it, or did moving the config files in my documents to reset the settings.

Cant say i experienced anything like that but if i did, then EA would hear about it. *rageface*

 

I figured it out, there was an update.

Since I was given a lame Russian copy I have to manually update the Eng files.

 

How come I can only spawn at the flags captured but not on the spawn beacon or my friends?

It happens to me on every map. Well, no gun bug still exists.

Battlefield 3 Tweaks and Fixes

 

I haven't changed anything else in my computer since the patch and am getting worse performance, more crashes, and lots of similar issues to before the patch. What did they do?

On another note, I have been playing the single player campaign and have to say I am impressed. It is very well done, and quite engaging, keeping me sucked in. I die a lot more than I expected I would, but that's ok. After a few tries I usually can move on.

 

Still haven't played the SP. Too busy with Skyrim!

 

Just finished the SP campaign. Very good, except some of the levels could have done with a little more interactivity. I mean the simple simon mini games with a few key presses to make sure the cinematic sequence plays properly is kind of silly.

All in all I'd say it's nearly as good as the Modern Warfare campaigns.

 

I am playing MP now but I seriously wish they would fix the minimum players thing. It is getting old.

 

Just had my best round ever. 26 kills and 12 deaths, using the IAR-27 of all things.

 

performance wise, check your video settings. I noticed after the patch my video settings were reset and i had to adjust them again to get the performance i wanted.

 

I'm not sure what happened, but ever since the patch, occasionally when I go to launch a multiplayer game, Battlelog will put me in the single-player portion of the game and I'll have to quit and try joining again.

 

It may be because you joined in during a racing condition check between multiple user joining in the last empty slot in the server. You managed get in the case where the game loaded before the battlelog can catch therefore cannot abort in time. So in the end, you ended up in the main menu.

Try joining servers that are at least 4+ slots open.

The battlelog and the game itself have no real knowledge and barely share any info to each other.

 

I did check, my settings remained the same. In any case, last night I had my game freeze three times, a couple times would load and sit at a black screen, and frequently couldn't join a server because "Disconnected from EA online" or some other silly error. A friend I was playing with had similar issues.

On a good point, later last night a couple servers I tried to join had the queue activated. So I guess that's good.

 

So I've been getting quite a bit better, my favorite map by far is Operation Firestorm. It's big and features all kinds of combat.

 

Just beat solo campaign, looking to do the co-op one next, and then move into the multiplayer scene.

 

solo was pretty terrible, eh? co-op is a little bit better. multiplayer is pretty amazing (when you finally beat the battlelog mini-boss and get into a game)

 

I need to go through coop. I want my sniper for the shooting of people in the head.

Since I ran through all the snipers and got all the unlocks I decided to do the same for the assault class. Up until yesterday my favorite non sniper was the M16A4 with rifle scope, silencer, and foregrip. Burst fire makes for many headshots. But then I unlocked whatever rifle is after the f2000. And now I am even happier.

 

its the AN-94 im running thru assault as well but for cqb maps like metro then the f2000 and aek is great for longer then the an rules until you unlook the g3 i think g3 should domenate in medium to large maps

 

I didn't think it was terrible, it was pretty well done though definitely not up to COD single player standards.

I died ALOT more in this one than any other I had played. Not sure if that is meaning it requires more skill or just that it is more tedious. Some deaths were deserved for getting impatient and going Rambo. Others I felt were pretty unfair.

All in all I enjoyed it though considering I played it pretty much constantly till I had it beat. Game is probably more enjoyable on a setup like mine that lets you engage with the story and surroundings a bit more (triple monitor surround)

Def up for those co-ops any time. I tried the first mission with a random person and we did good but with no communication we had issues. When he died the game didnt give me any notification I could see that he was dead so we lost I think close to the end because I couldnt revive him.

I didnt find what key you need to use voice chat nor text chat. So those are things I will have to learn.

 

I keep trying to do the third COOP mission using public matchmaking but keep ending up with idiots who do use any any stealth whatsoever for the first part of that mission and just blaze through, no fun.

 

No in-game VOIP. You have too hook up in Battlelog before starting or in your own VOIP setup. Keys for text chat are J (All), K (Team), L (Squad).

I honestly don't have much interest in co-op after playing a few levels. It's quite monotonous and annoying. Although would like to finish it just to finish it.

the only good coming out of coop what i can see is the g3 but after hearing about the lowering of the damage of the g3 i dont know any more if its wourth it
