I noticed when I need health or ammo is says "Hit Q to request ammo/health" If I hit Q, how can I tell if it worked? I can't ever hear my guy say "need ammo over here" or anything.
-
You have to target/aim at the person you want ammo/medpack from and hit q.
You will hear the voice over and that person will see a flashing ammo/cross on your location in his minimap.
That person must have ammo/medpack equipped or he see nothing at all.
Just you yelling the "I need ammo" voice overs, which everyone hears if nearby.
Also, when you request ammo/medpack from a person, all other friendly units nearby with ammo/medpack
would also see that request icon as well. -
Sometimes I see "Press Q to request Medic" or something to that effect, even if it's not targeted at someone.
Although most players seem to ignore the request anyhow. I'll be spamming Q at a support guy and constantly saying "ammo", yet they run around like a lunatic even if they're not under fire. Same thing for medics. Whenever I play those classes, I spam packs around groups of people always.
They really need to add call for medic and ammo to the commo-rose, then maybe highlight those players asking directly. Otherwise anyone who has spent any ammo or has slight health degradation shows up as needing attention so the people who really want or need it can get left in the dust. They should add extra points for delivering to people with very low health or ammo and/or requesting it directly. -
I'm getting used to the game and I like the game more when tagging of enemies is turned off, it makes the game more realistic.
-
Play hardcore ... so much less tagging and more raging
--------------------------
Do not wait for hint system to show up to request. Since it is aim dependant, it only trigger if you aim exactly on the guy when you hit Q.
Otherwise, it does nothing even with the hint telling that you could.
And yes, most of them will ignore you.
Play with me and join the mumble server, I'm a very good ammo guy / medic.
I do pay attention as long your voice over isn't overwhelmed by nearby gunfire. -
No don't wait for the hint to show "Press Q for ...." but if it shows up I press it if I need it and my dude yells "Medic" even if I'm not aiming at a medic.
-
Yeah, it does work not aiming on them but it is not guaranteed.
There is a request glitch which makes my minimap flooded with random big flashing white squares.
Make it looks like everyone needs it. -
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
So I tried hitting Q and nothing but the rose. I did switch my spot key. Is that the key it's looking for?
-
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
Unless I was being ignored. I didn't hear any voice overs though.
-
Your sites have to be on an assault or support class and just tap Q, don't hold it. Holding it will bring up the commo rose.
-
Just had my worst game. One of my teammates was killing us over and over.
-
So which sniper rifle do you guys prefer? I'm trying to unlock the extras for the SVD to build a med-long semi-auto sniper rifle thingy-ma-bob. I'm terrible at long range sniping (I mastered the bullet drop in BC2 but I can't seem to get it down in BF3).
-
You shouldn't even attempt long range shots with semi-automatic sniper rifles
For long ranged shots I suggest you use one of the bolt action ones. My favourite is the m98b, since thats also the most powerfull one.
As for the bulletdrop on the m98b at 2km, the target should be somewhere in the thick black bar on the botton of your scope (just below the 4th little horizontal stripe)

MP7 + M145 + Laser + Extended Mags is a beast at short to medium range engagements. I frequently find myself using this combo as an assault class player.
-
Oh, I meant I suck at long ranged shots in general
-
This is by far my favorite weapon. The spread and recoil is so low on this gun that you can open up full auto short to medium range and keep the crosshairs on your target so easily. The fire rate and accuracy completely outweigh the weak damage output once you unlock the extended mags.
(I play on hardcore) This gun is probably useless on regular. -
Its not useless, but nowhere as nice compared to HC. I tend to get one or two kills per reload in both HC and regular, 2-3 if I have the extended mag. Its a great little dodad tho.
-
Playing BF3 made me see just how much I suck at FPS >_>;
I'm getting killed left and right and my kill rate is like 0.375 and I'm barely ranking up and unlocking stuff. Then again I probably wouldn't have played multiplayer if not cause of my gf. >_>;
I wished there are more to unlock in co-op and single player.

Got it, thanks! I'm still being ignored constantly, especially while playing team DM, but on conquest i'll get a little more love. But at least now I can hear my guy asking for health/ammo. -
Just take some time to learn the maps, where to take cover, and always check your six! Some basic things that new players don't do are increase their field of view. Set it to 90 deg. World of difference in seeing more. Situational awareness is everything. Burst, burst, burst fire. No laying on full auto, your bullets go everywhere. Follow a higher ranked squad member. Just because they're higher ranked doesn't mean they're worth a damn, but they likely at least know maps decently, and is a second target for someone to shoot at.
-
From my experience there is very little teamwork on DM. Which is why I prefer to play Rush or Conquest. DM is really only good for when you don't have a lot of time to play and/or just want to go around capping people for a bit.
-
For you guys that play the Support class often, which LMG do you prefer? I've spent a good bit of time trying out most of them and I always seem to go back to the QBB-95. From what I've been reading online though, it doesn't seem like many people use it though. I guess it is because it is full auto only.
-
At the moment, the m249 cause of the 4th bullet syndrome with all lmg and hmg. The rate of fire makes it up.
I tend to switch it up between the ridiculously bad type 88 and the buggy mg36. -
I like using the RPK-74M in short bursts and sometimes single fire. Good times
-
Hi guys, I hope this is legit and won't get me banned, if it breaks any rules, mod please remove this post and don't ban me :/ . It's just something helpful and useful you may want to use.
I was just messing around with the old "tweak" that let you played the game without Origin, I applied what the creator of the tweak did to the latest version of the game, works flawlessly. I'm not going to include any files so you don't have to worry about viruses, the process is simple and easy.
Download Hex Editor here HxD - Freeware Hex Editor and Disk Editor | mh-nexus
Install Hex Editor
Make a backup of awc.dll from Battlefield 3\Core directory
Now open awc.dll in Hex Editor, look on the left column, find Offset 000 18530
Change the number 85 to 84 like in these pictures
Have fun and this should not get you banned by EA I believe. -
Stupid origin....
How do I install orgin/games on a different drive? -
Settings (Gear at top), General Tab, and right there you can set it. You can also set where installers are held in the field a little below that.

i like the guided shell on the tank but i have a few questions:
why can i sometimes lock onto helis/planes? is it cuz someones soflamming them?
does having zoom optics (and zooming in on enemy tank) increase the range that the guided missile can lock on? cuz it feels like it does.. -
With the guided shell you can target helis/planes because of SOFLAM, yes, or if the third position in the tank is lasing it.

I don't think I've ever seen someone using the tank commander specialization.

Any suggestions to lessen the sun glare? I can't stand it, especially at the canals during team DM. Running from the train down the the right side of the bridge. I have to look at the ground the whole time.
-
Get Yourself some Ray-Bans dude
-
Use an FXAA injector or like the nature.
You can pretty almost edit out the sun.
Or use thermal scopes.

I always use the 3rd seat in a tank as much as I can, it totally freaks out helo pilots. -

As I was walking back from lunch, one of the air handlers on the roof of a warehouse caught the corner of my eye. First thing I thought of was "damn snipers!" I think I play too much!

I think the biggest problem are people totally overlooking the variety and function of all the different squad perks. I swear, I think in 90% of the games I've played recently squadmates pay no attention to the squad perks. Sometimes they have none equipped and other times there are duplicates.
-
Yeah, people need to pay more attention to squad perks. You can really help out with a good variety.
-
I don't really look into squad perks unless my team is entirely rank 43 or higher.
I don't think that the personal perk stacks with squad perks. -
Does anyone else have a problem launching BF3 or Origin? I played fine yesterday but today, I installed the Origin update and now every time I try launching Origin or BF3, a black box pops up and goes away real fast. Nothing happens after that.
Anyone have a fix? I've tried uninstalling and turning off my Firewall. -
Try restarting computer ... worked for me when i updated origin yesterday.
-
Got it working. I had to go into the registry and remove the "TM" logo.

How does the homing missile of CG works on Battlefield Bad Company 2?
-
First, any vehicle that you want to lock onto must have a tracer on it. The tracer gun is a sidearm that all classes can use. But instead of bullets, it shoots a single glowing red tracer dart. This dart moves much slower than bullets, but travels in a straight line. Once you or a teammate stick a tracer onto an enemy vehicle, bring out your CG and aim down the scope directly at the targeted vehicle; it should have a lock-on icon on it. Keep your aim directly on the vehicle until the lock is complete, which takes a few seconds. When you fire the rocket, it will home in on the vehicle, and it's pretty much impossible to dodge without flares.
Also, I recommend the RPG-7 over the CG for locking on with tracers; it does a bit more damage against vehicles. -
Are BC2 servers still well populated?
-
I would only add to this by saying once your locked on and ready to fire, shoot up into the sky (if possible). This will help your missile avoid any ground obstacles and also make it harder for the tank to tell where your at. This is possible because once your locked on you can aim away from the target and still have "lock" for a few seconds.
-
-
Wow surprising.

It does ... just scroll down.
It's an optimization issue to show the first ~10 server that meets the filters to you as fast as possible.
Also, it assumed that you want to join and get in the game as fast as possible as well. And it assume the only servers you would rather be in a waiting queue is that server is your favorite server. The reason there is no full server only option in the filter.
In previous version of battlefield ... for me bf2, you had to wait for it to get all the servers and then it applies the filters. I remember this used to take a 1-2 minutes back when there was over 1k+ servers -

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters DLC Announced
Battlefield 3: Close Quarters is a themed expansion pack bringing the team play of Battlefield 3 to tight indoor environments. The frantic close quarters infantry combat is amplified by unprecedented high definition destruction, new ways to play, more weapons and added persistence.
The expansion includes four maps, 10 weapons and no vehicles -- it's about close quarters, after all.
There will be two more expansions for the game following the June expansion. "Armored Kill" will focus on additional weapons, larger maps, and new drivable vehicles. The second pack, called "End Game," features cover art depicting a lunatic holding a knife.
