I think people will initially be roadkilled because they won't know what the heck they're looking at.

BF4 was $60 and Premium was $50. Maybe the full version was $100? I don't know. I can't say whether or not Hardline is worth that money as I don't have it and with my friends not being interested in it, I'm likely to not log on one day to find a code waiting for me or anything to that effect. I had fun in the Release Candidate build used for server stability testing beta and I think if it was named anything other than "battlefield" (let's say it was just called "Hardline") nobody would be complaining about its price. But we are indeed in a time when people are wary of how much AAA games are actually worth due to getting ripped off all the damn time, but still.
If it comes out and runs well and does not have stupid netcode bugs and the game itself handles well, that'd be well and good. If it releases broken, well, then let them get the backlash. I hope that every single person however who doesn't want to pay for BF: Hardline because it's a "reskin" and "is BF4 Cops and Robbers" treats Star Wars Battlefront and/or BF5 the same if they feel similar to BF4 with new weapons/maps/vehicles. Fair is fair and double standards need to die. -
I would be complaining about $120. They could have just called it Hardline but the similarities are real apparent with BF4. If it were a whole new engine or engine overhaul and a whole new concept, sure I could almost see and justify the full price tag. But considering they just reskinned and added a couple game modes over BF4, it's very hard to justify full price.
Battlefront is a different story altogether. It's more than just a reskin. It's a lot of new content, a lot of new vehicles, a lot of new concepts, totally different landscapes, including space battles, sword play, etc. Hardline is more of the same weapons, environments, and gameplay. A few unique ideas, but not nearly as much work needed to go into that as is going into Battlefront.
I'll likely eventually break down and buy Hardline, but only when the price drops significantly. And considering how quickly it did with BF4, I'm sure it will only be a month or so after launch before you can get the base game for under $30.Last edited: Mar 16, 2015 -
I don't expect a new engine. I expect them to work on Frostbite 3 a little bit and bring minor improvements. If battlefront has all that extra, then okay. But rebuilding an engine every couple years is not progressive, due to how long it takes to iron out the bugs.
Also, I don't know why it's $120, because premium itself is $50 and the game is $60. For me it's a lot less though:
It has weird pricing on Origin for me too. The "premium" edition is more than double the standard, even though they're both still somewhat cheap compared to the US.

hmmm....is it just me or does the map flicker a lot in multiplayer?
-
WOW, what a F***ing BAD game. Play 5 minutes and it crashes over and over again. Tried 347.52, 347.88, 349.56, 349.90 (playing with win10 for last 2). Pissed away those $60 bucks, there will be no next time. origin uninstalled
-
here no problem
maybe is the win10 or something? -
HaloGod2012 Notebook Virtuoso
no problems here. game has been running perfect since launch. Something else is def wrong
-
I ended up picking it up. I've had it crash on me periodically as well. Also hit detection is literally hit or miss. At first I thought it was better than BF4, but sometimes it's great, I shoot, I hit. I kill. But then more often than not, I shoot, get multiple hit registers and still little to no damage and I get killed. And even sometimes I shoot, definitely should be a hit, and no register. It feels like BF4 beta all over again.
-
@kolias Can't blame it on win10, other games worked well. Also tried it on win8.1 same crashing.
@HaloGod2012 my systems fine a lot of people complaining about this crashing on web no solutions par for course. Besides other than MP, campaign should have been 20 bucks tops-so short -
and this is why you never trust EA... they claimed they'll push back the schedule and release a game that's "more finished," but as of now EA proves to us once again that it is incapable of hitting the target with the first shot. now that I think about, EA said that just to screw around with ubisoft, and those words meant nothing more than PR bullcrap
-
The game is nowhere NEAR as bad as BF4's release was. Don't lump it as the same. I know it's not perfect, but honestly BF4 still crashes for some people. So the games are more or less in the same state.TomJGX likes this.

Ugh you can't help yourself. You buy anything that has Battlefield or Dice on it and then disappointed every time.killkenny1 likes this.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
I think we should help old man Wingnut. Put on some BF vids, and hook him up like this:
Believe me, Wingnut, it's for your own good. You'll thank us later.TomJGX likes this. -
Ugh, that scene from Clockwork Orange bugged me the most out of that horribly disturbing film.
Oh, and I'm beyond help.TomJGX likes this. -

Yeah, I know. There are only two solutions, either tie you up to that, or shoot you down. Your choice, man. -
Is it me or do the graphics look poor on Hardline compared to BF4?
-
It's not just you
-
I thought maybe its just a beta thing.
-
singleplayer looks fine except for the 30fps in cinematics BS. but it just doesn't feel like a BF game
-
Those 2 launch commands don't work?
-
the commands from Dragon Age: inquisition? nope....unless there's other commands.
-
Yeah, works in other Frostbite games that are locked at 30 FPS. That sucks.
-
the game doesn't take the commands in the command line argument option in origin or in a shortcut - it has to be in a user.cfg file.
also, the dragon age commands aren't even available in hardline.
EDIT: doesn't work in the user.cfg.Last edited: Apr 1, 2015 -
BF4 isn't even out of beta yet. Dunno how Hardline was expected to be XD
-
More CTD's... seriously? I mean this game reeks of BF4 beta, yet it's made by another dev house than DICE. Clearly sloppy work and a lot of copy/paste from early BF code.

killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
So why did you buy it? This makes you a part of the problem.TomJGX likes this. -
Regardless of the issues in BF4 I still enjoy the game, and the flexibility it has to offer.
-
BF4 has a TON of CTD for all my friends but me (ironically enough) across various hardware. So believe me when I say it's not only hardline. The two games are in a generally similar state, and any updates (stability/optimization-wise) BF4 gets, Hardline gets too, so if one game has unwanted behaviour X, the other game sure as hell has it too.
Are you the video game version of Nostalgia Critic? XD -
Latest beta drivers posted here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/geforce-hotfix-driver-350-05.774016/
Those so far seem to have made the game more stable, so seems it may have been a Nvidia thing than a BFH thing, but still holding out because I haven't played much since I installed the new drivers. A few rounds and no CTD though. -
i am still hoping that they....
1) fix the vsync issues.
2) uncap the in-game cutscenes from 30fps.
