Shadow of the Colossus!!! Great game!
-
CrossFire from suba games, free cs clone.
i was skeptical but its really fun (mostly cause everyone who plays sucks)
and you get to save up xp and buy guns and stuff.
I love games with experience points. -
vehicle warfare ftw.
My list:
Oblivion (i just saw it in stores, never heard of the series before just saw the back of the box and bought it so it was a sleeper for me).
The Witcher
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (again, had no idea about the game when i bought it). -
-
-
Troika the studio that made bloodlines and ToEE is now defunct so unless someone picks up the license again i doubt there will be a sequel anytime soon.
-
Tomb raider. The scene was boring.
-
Most fun for me were the Serious Sam series...pure slaughter! -
Transport Tycoon ==> I must have put in over 500 hours on this game as a kid. (God that is going back some years!)
Also,
Syndicate Wars -
dark cloud 2 was phenomenal. ranks as one of my favorite RPG's of all time. this series has it's following, and i think it should be given so much more credit... i've been waiting for dark cloud 3 for some time
Arc the Lad: Twilight of Spirits was a pretty fun game with some cool RPG elements.
Star Ocean: Til The End of Time was very good in my opinion, and i feel the game should be given more credit. the game world is GIGANTIC, and there is so much to explore
LOZ Majora's Mask i feel was rivaled too much by its predecessor making it sweep on through with dim light, so i guess that game can be considered a "sleeper" however, it hardly is not. though of the LOZ series, that is my favorite installment.
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecies was a pretty cool game. I never finished it though, but it was an awesome adventure. -
And, yes, it was indeed awesome. -
earthbound.
-
Okami
Beyond Good & Evil -
metal arms : glitch in the system .. was uber! funny. innovative and a hell lot of fun. anyone with a ps2 or xbox i suggest you try to pick up the game maybe from ebay or something. highly recommended.

Deathtank Zwei - Saturn
Burning Rangers - Saturn
Faery Tale - Genesis
World of Goo - PC
Solar Jetman: Hunt For The Golden Warpship - NES
Flashback - Genesis/SNES
Out of this World - Genesis/SNES
Wizards & Warriors - NES
River City Ransom - NES -
crimewave
dragonforce
both for sega saturn. -
Ok, I gotta say it, Advent Rising. It is an Awesome Friggin Game. A little buggy, but still amazingly awesome.
-
The Unreal series ( not Unreal Tournament!). Unreal and Unreal II: The Awakening were both surprisingly deep single-player games. The original Unreal set standards for 3D games and made plenty of technological breakthroughs in gaming engines. And Unreal II was very pretty for its time.
I'm playing through Unreal II again now. -
I'll add another game: Disciples 2
ark Prophecy. There's something to be said for building a small stack army from grunt noodles to hulking devils and monsters.

Penumbra is pretty cool. You can buy the trilogy on a single DVD for $20. Creepy game, reminiscent of Silent Hill, except first person lol.
-
) still has an active following. Try it - the game right now is amazing.
-
Crash Bandicoot!
-
I'd have to say Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines
-

Ok some of you people do not understand the definition of a "sleeper" game...lol
N64 - Winback: Covert Ops, Army Men: Air Attack, Extreme G II, Roadster
PC - Natural Selection (HL1 mod), Mount and Blade
GBA - TMNT (this is a license game of the movie that came out, but pretty much no one bought this version or overlooked it. It was a great side scroller reminisce of the snes turtles in time and it was short, but really sweet.) -
Umm, I defined a sleeper in this thread as the OP. Two kinds:
(A) a game that didn't garner much attention, but ended up being a really great game?
(B) a game in a genre you never cared for, but decided to play anyhow and enjoyed it thoroughly? -
oh my god i remember transport tycoon, that dates me back lol

Nethack-Basically a "rogue" game with a very crude graphical display and alot more death. Death is permanent, cursed items are everywhere, and it has a tremendous learning curve, but it is somehow extremely addictive. Also, FREE!!!
-
so far...Darkfall.
-
Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, and KOTOR, had never heard of either before and both ended up being awesome games.
-
How about Jones in the Fast Lane by Sierra back in the early 90's. I played that game to death!
-
Duke Nuken Forever lol
-
I alt+tab a lot while playing it lol -
Roller coaster Tycoon was addicting... I admit.
-
Very true which version?? -
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I could sit all day watch customers get nauseated on my new rides that I make. It was hilarious.
-
B) Sierra's "The Incredible Machine". Rube Goldberg dominated my childhood through this game.
A) I'm stretching the line for this particular argument, but I feel Morrowind received an amount of attention that did not match its superiority to Oblivion - it was a sleeper compared to Oblivion, which did not merit the attention it got IMHO.
B) StarSiege. Mech games don't appeal to me, but StarSiege took me for a ride. -
-
I somewhat enjoyed "Star Trek: New Worlds"
although it had one major flaw - you could not save a game in progress. -

Otherwise, I really do not buy any "sleeper" games, I'd rather spend my money on major titles with good reviews. -
1 and 2)Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines and Redemption.
I was never really into RPG's at all before I played Redemption. I loved Bloodlines, granted a bit (okay more than a bit) broke, but vampire goth chicks kick butt. Besides with all the unofficial patches out now, it runs very well.
3 and 4) X-com Ufo Defense and TFTD
I understand that the original is a considered a classic, but I mention here because that was the game that got me into gaming. Never was into nintendo, or anything else, but when I got my first computer my friend hooked me up with this game and I was instantly addicted. There was nothing like taking out Sectoids with a Blaster Launcher, or getting so upset that your best, and coolest soldier was taken over by an Etheral via mind control.. Still play it from time to time. -
Lands of Lore 2 - Guardians of Destiny
didn't like it at first, but then - there were so much things/secrets items to find or possibilities to trick the AI out i had to play 7 times -
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. I used to play that game ALL the time online. I tried Tiberium Wars, but it just wasn't the same. (although the cheesy cutscenes were hilarious)
-
Ah man. Anyone remember SimAnt? I wonder if that still works on the DOS box. I fired up Simcity 4 and had a blast of nostalgia.
-
-
-
My favorite sleeper game would have to be Gladius. Although it was on the Original Xbox, I still easily think it is a fav
-
Oh, just remembered this--very old school, but Theme Hospital:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theme_Hospital
Ahhh, I wasted so many hours on this game.
Best "SLEEPER" game you've played?
