I have nibitor and nvflash.
First i read 8600M GT bios into nibitor & save stock bios as oldbios.rom
Secondly i change Advanced 3D values on nibitor (GPU 590(Riva 648)+Shader(Riva 1296)+RAM 472) and save them as a newbios.rom
So what's next????(Make bootable Pen Drive ???....Guide please)
-
Don't flash.. Do driver OC.
-
-
The new drivers are bugged like a "1000 pound pile of **** trying to fit in the toilet" anyway so just use an older driver.
-
158.45 for me now....What's next???For OC -
-
-
-
Well.. I OC only for gaming and when i want to watch HDMI on my TV i boot up my vista partition with my standard NVIDIA driver. So it aint "period".
How much are u going to hook up your notebook to your external HDMI screen to watch a movie.. Not much, period. -
Heres the link for the tools needed to flash the gpu:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QPTY9VQR
CAUTION: You need to use an older driver and overlock to the speeds you want to flash to and TEST it first. I recommended letting 3DMark06 loop each test 15 times before flashing the gpu. -
-
Yes i know.. But adding safety with comparing driver OC and flashing and the ability to make OC profiles so u can OC your card with one click for the games that need it and for those that dont u keep your cores standard wich means less usage of your GPU wich could mean longer life i would say don't flash when u don't need too. If someone still wants to flash they should do it.. I wouldn't.

XP clean install with 6.14.11.6501 (driver on the XP install guide on this website) = 3491 3Dmark06 at 1280 x 800. Very stable and havn't found a game with any probs yet.

FEAR in the second level.

Okay, is there any driver that NO-one have had the "stop responding" error while gaming on a DELL 1520 with the 8600 GT? I have tried 163.14, the 162.18 and DELL's own drivers and the graphic card drivers crashes about once every 20 minutes in Sims 2 no matter which one.

I found after the bios mod, that the shaders do not like working above 1200 with atitools 3d view cube. It gave me screen garbage after a few minutes running where 3dmark / games would not after hours.
Also, 160.04 are the last ones to work with driver level oc.
@580 gpu the shaders are above 1200mhz, be carefull -
Hey how to calculate shader clock speed(I mean can't see correct clock on Riva so how can i know correct value to update my bios)
I Run 3DMark06 SM 2.0 & SM 3.0 All the tests @ 590/470 (Repeat 16 Times * 4 Tests)And Max temp is 92C (Day Time) -

Nvidia has a new beta driver 163.44 for Vista and XP x86 and x64. Check it out:
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html
Ill be looking at it shortly. -
its downloading sooooooo slow
-
are those drivers for the desktop version the the 8 series, cause i couldn't get it to work on my 1520
-
Sorry about that guys, I forgot you have to mod them. Ill have a hybrid version up in a few minutes.
-
swoley2k, may I ask where you got those drivers? I looked on laptopvideo2go but I couldn't find them.
-
how do you do the hybrid drivers? im new to this
-
I'm sorry swoley2k, but I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to nvidia drivers for mobile cards. When I try to install it claims the drivers are not compatible with my hardware.
I assume I need to edit the nv_disp.inf and add something to allow the drivers to be used, could you explain what I need to do? I really don't want to mess up my laptop.
EDIT: Okay, so I simply added all of the lines looking like "%NVIDIA_C51.DEV_0243.1% = nv_NV3x, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0243" in the .inf's of laptopvideo2go's customized inf files, will this work? It now loads the installer, but I don't want to try to install the drivers before I know I'm doing this the right way. -

Thanks The Forerunner, someone indeed answered my question in that thread. Basically it was recommended I replace the beta's nv_disp.inf with one of the modified ones from laptopvideo2go.com even though they aren't the same driver version.

Hybrid Forceware 163.44
README.TXT:
These drivers are a combination of information from DNA forceware 158.22, Nvidia.com 163.44 beta drivers, and some manually modifications by myself. Tested with C90S with 8600M GT w/HDMI.
Message me with any questions!
Fixes:
PERFORMANCE. These are the best performing drivers. I tested using 3DMark06, F.E.A.R., Oblivion, Far Cry, Battlefield 2142, and Quake 4. Not benchmarks but
actually game play with a keen eye.
HDMI OVERSCAN. These, when used with the provided HDTV overscan instructions, offer the proper displaying of the desktop on HDTV via HDMI.
OVERCLOCKING. For overclocking, you will have to flash the bios of your gpu. This can be accomplished by using nibitor to modify the bios already
on the card and nvflash 5.40 to flash the new clock speeds. Dont forget to change the shader clock as well as the core and mem. Also, dont
forget to backup the bios before you flash. TEST the speeds before you flash by using your stock nvidia driver (101.17) on the driver disk along
with ntune!
Problem:
DVD OR DVD FILE VIDEO TEARING. No matter what driver I use, modified .inf, modifying the .inf, dna drivers, ngo drivers, copying certain files from one version onto another, ANYTHING, I can not get the video tearing to go away when using clone mode with HDMI in WMP. It is a problem that must be addressed at a video driver file level by Nvidia. Using these drivers there along with k-lite mega codec pack 3.3.0,there is no tearing with Windows Media Player Classic and Media Center. If you want to use WMP with a dvd file with no tearing you will have to swap the displays so that the HDTV is the primary display. I also tried every version from 1.35 to 3.3.0 of K-Lite codec pack. This process took me 4 weeks! Trust me, these are the best you will get!
Have fun!
Hybrid Forceware 163.44:
SEE EDIT!
NOW, before you go hollering about "oh no dont flash bios" and "it doesnt need to be flashed", you will HAVE to flash the bios if you want to use drivers newer than 158.22 AND have overscan correction using the included instructions. So if you dont want overclocking or overscan correction on the hdmi out but want newer drivers, then by all means DONT use these. And BTW, if you TEST the overclock for a few hours or overnight before you flash it then you will be safe. Dont bash me for trying to help as ive spent 4 weeks working on the best solution possible. Use it or dont.
Here are the results of my drivers and a clean install of xp. NO tweaks! NO fancy stuff! Just installing windows, all drivers, 3dmark06! CPU at 2.93 and gpu at 530 core 1200 shader 530 mem.
I had to pull the new hybrid driver as it locks the computer up when playing DVD movies or DVD video files in Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player Classic. I have tested possible solutions and the problem lies in the fact that the new 163.44 drivers include Nvidia Pure HD decoding for DVD playback for some of the natually supported gpus. When you edit the .inf file to include a mobile card, somehow the Pure HD part of the driver gets "confused". Disabling any other DVD codecs does NOT work. Therefore, I had to pull the driver due to it not being an effective driver. This problem does not occur with DVD video using the laptopvideo2go download and their modified .inf BUT the video tearing issue fixed with my hybrid drivers returns yet again. In summary, if you want overscan correction, no video tearing, and great game performance go with my Hybrid Forceware 162.50 drivers found here (flash gpu for overclocking):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8W0L0T9W
If you want overscan correction (use my directions in 162.50 download), dont care about video tearing on secondary display, and even BETTER gaming performance, go with the 163.44 driver from laptopvideo2go.com with the modified .inf file. -
hey swoley, any way you can make these drivers available for vista? ><. its not letting me install them
-
1. Im not using Vista and dont plan to because of #2
2. The video tearing issue is even worse on vista and occurs in all media players on ALL video files.
3. There is no need for overscan fixes in vista 160 series and up because they already display the correct output.
If you plan on using Vista, just get your drivers from laptopvideo2go.com, flash the gpu (you still have to with 158.45 up), suffer with video tearing, but get correct overscan compensation. -
I can't get the 163.44 to install, even when using another ini from another driver from laptopvideo2go

Hey found bios modding guide @ Toms...So i really appreciate if any one read it and confirm me that the guide is correct. If it's correct I'll flash my bios like guide said

PLEASE NOTE MY EDIT FOR THE HYBRID 163.44 DRIVERS. DO NOT USE THEM! READ ABOVE!

Well, laptopvideo2go hasn't posted the INF. I hope they do so by tomorrow. I want to try the 163.44 drivers.

Hi!
I am tired of the " your graphic card has stopped to work blah blah" pauses in my games. I use a brand new Inspiron 1520 with the 8600M GT card and have tried a number of drivers (mainly playing Sims2). Any suggestions for drivers?
I have tried:
162.18
163.14
165.01
DELL default drivers (these worked the longest but I got a lot of those pauses yesterday. Admittedly it turned out that my power unit / transformer had fried and it had switched to battery mid-play and therefore had reset itself for battery use (no AA, for example) so that might have been the cause of the DELL drivers crash).
...And btw I do get a new power unit today, free of charge, obviously. Must have been a lemon...
/Stefan -
okay so i got my 1520 with the 8600 and vista 32 bit. and i noticed that my fps sucked in css with the factory drivers so i download the 163.14 drives and ran them but then it says it can't find any drivers or something. I just exacted the files onto a foler on the desktop and ran setup and didn't work. So then i uninstalled the current factory drivers and then nothing worked propertly. So i popped in dells recover driver disc and i'm back to square one. Can sombody tell me now to propertly install 163.14 drivers? please?
-
Go into the Device manager and choose update driver, and choose update from specific location.
/Stefan -
Anyone know if the ntune tuning thing works with the dell vostro 1500s? It shows the original values all as "0" but it then proceeds to do something anyway.
Also got a message saying it only worked with nforce 2 based chipsets but it didnt stop the test. -
Hi yall,
a shoutout from Sweden;
I'll be taking delivery of my brand new Zepto 3415w tomorrow, and since I already had a VISTA Ultimate 64-bit dvd i ordered it without the OS installed. Now I'm on the hunt for some drivers for my 8600m gt 512mb, and I'm rather frankly to lazy to read 20 pages of different advice that I'm not ecen sure I'll understand all of.
Since I will be using my laptop for work I can't afford a breakdown, so I basicly need a driver that will give my gaming experience the biggest boost possible without having to learn - what seems to be - the risky hassle of overclocking. Which driver do you recommend for stable, easygoing gaming?
Thanks beforehand!
/Wille -
The vista32 163.44 beta drivers are excellent. I was previously using the 158.45 drivers, and although I get roughly 3-6 fewer FPS in some games, the improved compatability fixes are worth it. Works fine. There is apparently an improvement in HD video playback too.
-
I cant get the 163.44 drivers to install, even with the modded INF. I have Vista and a 8600M GT. Anybody know what my problem is? It is telling me that the driver isnt compatable with my hardware

nevermind i got it, had to restart for some reason
