What are the best laptopvideo2go drivers for my Dell? The stock nVidia drivers that came pre installed are doing quite a nice job but I am wondering whether or not I should upgrade to the laptopvideo2go drivers...I definately want to upgrade if I will see a performance increase however I am cautious due to the reports of unstable drivers with wierd problems and the like. What is a good driver for me? I play games like BF2 and HL2. thanks!

I've been doing pretty good on 163.44, I would say there were nice improvements from stock 101 drivers. The stock 101 drivers are more compatibility drivers; not slow, but not performance drivers by any stretch.
-
I'm running 158.45, and you can overclock it. If you are not interested in Overclocking then go with the 162.44. Supposedly they just released 163.44 drivers that you can overclock but I havn't tried it.
-
do I simply download and install them or is it more complicated then a regular driver?

I downloaded the 163.44 drivers from laptopvideo2go.com because I wanted to play the BioShock demo. These perform about 4-5% faster than the 162.18 drivers I was using previously. Also, 163.44 drivers eliminate the slow load time introduced by 162.18 as well as removing the extremely slow load when opening the control center.
Best drivers I've used so far, very pleased. Plus, BioShock was a fantastic demo! -
Hey, there, everyone! I'm getting my inspiron 1520 with 8600gt today. I will install xp on it as soon as possible. I've been out of the world of drivers and video cards for a while now and need your help. Which of the current drivers for 8600gt will be optimal to install, using windows xp?
Thank you,
BiG_V -
158 or 163.
Just for exemple, the desktop 8600GT performed like a 7600GT wityh the 101.xx, with today's drivers, it's like a 7800GTX 256 -
Still on 163.44 They work pretty good

For all XP users 163.44 is nearly a must, at least if you watch HD movies on your laptop or use it to play them on a TV - since the hardware decoding is now working perfectly.
-
Anyway, get your behind back over to laptopvideo2go.com and read their VISTA DRIVER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
Here is a quick link to the 163.44 Vista 32bit drivers. -
I'm running XP professional and by upgrading to newest driver 163.44 from 162.18 I was able to gain 50 points more in 3dmark06 on stock speed resulting 3203 in 1280x1024 resolution.

Hybrid Forceware 156.55
README.TXT
These drivers are a combination of information from DNA forceware 158.22, Laptopvideo2go 156.55 drivers, and some manually modifications by myself.
Email me at [email protected] with any questions!
Fixes:
PERFORMANCE. These are the best performing drivers. I tested using 3DMark06, F.E.A.R., Oblivion, Far Cry, and Battlefield 2142. Not benchmarks but
actually game play with a keen eye. 3DMark06 score was the same from the earlier 162.50 drivers (4253 on both strangely enough)
HDMI OVERSCAN. These, when used with the provided HDTV overscan instructions, offer the proper displaying of the desktop on HDTV via HDMI.
NOTE: In this version, I also shortened the steps you need to take to get correct HDMI overscan correction!!! (yay)
OVERCLOCKING. For overclocking, you will have to flash the bios of your gpu. This can be accomplished by using nibitor to modify the bios already
on the card and nvflash 5.40 to flash the new clock speeds. Dont forget to change the shader clock as well as the core and mem. Also, dont
forget to backup the bios before you flash. TEST the speeds before you flash by using your stock nvidia driver (101.17) on the driver disk along
with ntune!
Problem:
DVD OR DVD FILE VIDEO TEARING. No matter what driver I use, modified .inf, modifying the .inf, dna drivers, ngo drivers, copying certain files from one version onto another, ANYTHING, I can not
get the video tearing to go away when using clone mode with HDMI in WMP. It is a problem that must be addressed at a video driver file level by Nvidia. Using these drivers there
along with k-lite mega codec pack 3.3.5,there is no tearing with Windows Media Player Classic and Media Center. If you want to use WMP with a dvd file with no tearing you will have
to swap the displays so that the HDTV is the primary display. I also tried every version from 1.35 to 3.3.5 of K-Lite codec pack. This process took me 4 weeks! Trust me, these are the best you will get!
NOTE: I also tried with the new 3.3.5 version of the codecs. Definately a nvidia driver problem

Why use that "HAVE DISK" method anyways? Just move the inf file into the folder and then run the setup.exe file. No reason to go through all that! That is not the recommended installation procedure according to laptopvideo2go

New driver posted above!

Wait, I'm confused, can someone just tell me or link me to the best current drivers for 32bit? Is it 163.44?
-
is that for vista^^?
-
doesn't it say THERE NVIDIA ForceWare X 163.44 for Windows XP/2K 32bit?
-
163.67 Driver still have DVD flickering issue
-
I currently have the defualt drivers for my 8600 GT but I get stuttering when I play Oblivion. I get high Framerats such as 40-50 but every now and then I'll get some stuttering it's almost as if the system is trying to catch up to the game and my framerate will drop considerably during this sometimes dropping to 1 but most cases to 15 or 20.
Will the laptop2go drivers help? i tried the 163.44 but basically same result. Are there any other drivers I could try to make this better or is this because of Vista? The stuttering makes the game unberable to play.
-Taylor -
defragging your harddrive should fix the stuttering
-
Tried it several times.
-
google a tweak guide for it. There are a number of tweaks to get rid of this issue and increase FPS without sacrificing settings.
-
Went through the tweak guide. I've tried any optimization that I can think of except for the drivers. I get the same issue when I play Morrowind. The only other game I have to test is Never Winter Nights and I'm too lazy to install it lol. I'm just hoping that nothing's wrong with my GPU. I think stuttering may even be worse in Morrowind as well.
-
Problem solved.
If you are having stuttering issues with an 8600M GT that is not related to a framerate issue. (You have a good framerate such as 25+ but still getting stuttering) Then you should try this.
I am not responsible if you mess up your hardware. Do this at your own risk!
-Download the 163.44 drivers
-Install accordingly
-Dowload NVTweaker (if using XP)
-Download RivaTuner (if using Vista)
-Install accordingly
-In NVTweaker enable Additional Direct3D
--Then go to Forceware controle panel
--Go to classic view
--Set prerender limit or do not render any frames over X or whatever it says to 1 or 2
-In RivaTuner go to Direct3D settings
-Vsync settings
-Set to 1 or 2
Voila!
-Taylor -
the fact that your 8600 gt has gddr2 instead of gddr3, might have something to do with it.
-
could anyone with a 8600m gt ddr2 tell how many fps get in Call of Duty 2 running at directx 9 with everything in high settings?
-
-
that's too low for this vcard isn't it?
-
how safe is it to install these drivers?
-
-
NOTE: also enable smooth mouse under "look" in the game settings and disable shadows for a good boost. -
Yes, why so low for this NEW card? Nvidia had better do something quick!
I can't even play a current game decently at my native WSXGA resolution...
So far for me, the gpu is still very buggy in running many Dx9 titles, even simple 3d game "Broken sword - angels of death" from last year, the images keep shuttering and slow, non fluid movement of characters...
And Fps is so slow (just 1 - 15) on WIC and COH in Dx10 even when using the new 163.67 driver with medium-low settings, not even to mention the expected medium-high settings of these new cards marketed strongly as so by nvidia.
Can Nvidia do something to seriously improve their firmware/drivers to our expectation of what they market the cards to be!!!
-
I'm getting overheating issues with the 163.44 drivers from tweakforce (Xtreme G) on CS Source and Battlefield 2 (Asus G1S). Not sure whats wrong, considering the card should be able to run CS Source full settings pretty much.
-
What temperature is it overheating too with 163.44? try 167.67
Which gpu?

EDIT: The first few times I used my HDMI overscan instructions it worked fine. Now I cant get through the overscan comp part without gettin a runtime error. I am unsure if it is my setup or the driver itself. I could use some feedback on this to see if anyone else is getting the error now. This may be fixed when the WHQL driver comes out and I will test it.
