It was in my review and it seems to only happen on american lobbies? I don't know. I don't see it happen in EU streams. But no, you're not doing anything wrong. The game is just a cow.

OK after repeatedly trying to connect, it only connects perhaps once out of every 10 attempts. The rest of the time you have to wait 5 minutes for the entire loading screen for the map and then at the very end it says "Disconnected from Host" and puts you back in the lobby again.
The game is really not playable in this state - maybe because it is the free Steam weekend the servers can't handle this many people?
I tried editing the config file to reduce the maximum ping, but this did not fix the problem. -
Welcome to P2P matchmaking.
Now go play CoD4 dedicated servers.

here's hoping that the next treyarch one is decent

It's actually a fun game when I'm able to connect. You can jump really high, sort of like tribes ascend. Overall I'd say it's more fun than Battlefield Hardline.
However, it appears you need to completely exit the game and restart after every match or it gets the error: "Disconnected from host/server. Connection timed out. -
as said, we dont seem to have as many issues in the UK/EU as in America.
ive never had any issues since release except for when the patch came out in december and all that needed was the temp and cache files cleaned out with cc cleaner and ran perfectly again since then.
ive got my 2 year old clevo set on default graphics as im not a frapps hunter. even people with 970/980 who bump up their graphic settings are suffering.
also make sure pre load shaders is turned off as this will add upto 2-3 minutes just to get into game. -
I don't even remember buying the game, lol. But I'll play it for the single player as I've enjoyed the past CoD single player games quite a bit.
I can't get MSI Afterburner / RTSS to display overlay information. I even manually added the exe and turned on custom Direct3D support as suggested by a forum post on Steam, but still no overlay. Here's my RTSS setup.

Did you enable 64-bit OSD support? (Click the wrench.)

Yes I did thanks. It started working after a couple reboots and disabling stuff. Then I rebooted once again with my normal startup, started it up, and it worked.
Wow this game like vRAM. It consumes my whole 3GB at 1080p without AA.D2 Ultima likes this. -
You really should have seen my review XD. It did this on launch and still does this; number of players is irrelevant.
MW2, MW3, Ghosts never did this. Neither did BO2 during party games where it was P2P. AW is just coded THAT badly.
I might do another review for that. We'll see how it goes. -
Yeah something is screwed up with this game.. After playing multiplayer/co op for the 1st day, yesterday, I was playing both and after a game or so, sometimes I randomly get kicked saying that I'm VAC banned.. I have to wait a while, restart the steam client and then only can I play again... Like really? I don't even hack etc so god knows what's happening.. I'm going to make a ticket about this... It's extremely stupid..

Wow yes I noticed the number of concurrent players was still pretty low. COD servers can't even handle 6,000 people? There were almost ten times more people playing Skyrim, which came out in 2011.
It's a shame that it was actually pretty fun when it was able to connect properly, but who wants to spend hours trying to connect over and over before you finally are able to join a match without the host timing out? -
Exactly what I said in my review and why I still only have 13 hours in it. Hell I don't even remember where the last 3 hours came from, I thought it was 10. It's fun, but the connection is garbage compared to previous titles. It's inconsistently bad. Unlike MW3 which was terrible depending on if the game liked your connection, or BO2 which was equally bad across all CoDs, or BO1 which wasn't the best, but was also equal and even handled 300+ ping players like a champion. AW is just bad when it feels like it and only decent when it works well, and its time to kill being so fast I swear people get killed with fly spit instead of bullets? It bodes terribly for the game.
I have no hopes for any new FPS games. It's sad. I also need to find back my sensitivity for unreal tournament and Toxxik. -
Uhhh Skyrim isn't online multiplayer. You can't compare them.
You haven't seen bad servers until you've played PlanetSide 2.

Seemed like a fun game when I was actually able to join a match, but man I feel bad for people who paid $60 for this when 9 times out of 10 you are sitting around waiting for the map to load and then you get kicked back to the lobby with "Disconnected from host/ timed out" error.
Out of those 13 hours you played, I'm guessing 80-90% of that was just waiting in the lobby trying to join a match.
That's exactly my point, a four year old single player RPG has 10x more concurrent online players than supposedly the most popular multiplayer fps game of all time, released only a few months ago, and this is during a free Steam weekend.
Wouldn't even venture to guess how few people are playing COD when it is not a free Steam weekend. It appears the server connection problems killed this community, at least on PC.Last edited: Feb 22, 2015 -
I meant server issues, not how many concurrent players on Steam. But yeah, the vast majority of CoD players are on console, not PC.
-
Nah. Most of that was in matches, but it did happen quite frequently that I was able to get footage of it for my review. But I don't find matches anymore; at least not when I would try to play.
As for what killed it on PC, it was MW3 followed by Black Ops 2 being a mediocre game with hitreg issues called "broken camera" by most players, followed by Ghosts running like a piece of crap for most people. AW never had a chance... but it wouldn't have lived up to any kind of hype had it had a proper chance either.
A lot of players on PC like their tiny pings, and people who played with low-but-not-tiny ones (like 50-70) experienced the kind of stuff they're accustomed to with 150+ ping servers in previous games when playing Black Ops 2. It was enough to drive a ridiculous amount of players off, and Ghosts did nothing by going back to P2P. Hell, half the BO2 players didn't even believe they were playing on dedis the whole time. -
I was playing it today for about 1 hour and spent like 10 mins waiting for the game to load etc.. It's freaking stupid.. They need to get bigger servers!! Multiplayer is great but this is ruining it for me!!
-
and they must work on spawn system, too
-
what a joke
Havoc DLC Delayed on PC only (playstation got theirs today)
New release date March 3rd (2016 most probably)
compensation: have 2XP for the inconvenience
they kept the news to the very last minute and put a facebook and twitter message out at 6pm UK time. -
Finished the single player campaign. Fairly easy, quite enjoyable. CoD campaigns are really just interactive movies more or less. I like to an extent, but really only worth about $20 for SP IMHO. Don't care much about CoD MP. Have tried my hand at past ones and just couldn't get into it. May get into this one for a bit and see how it is. Otherwise, meh. Fun while it lasted.
TomJGX likes this. -
I paid £20 for COD AW and have played the SP.. Really enjoyed it.. Played the MP a bit but recently been playing too much world of warships.. I must play more COD
