COD5 PC beta is today! & open to everyone!

for me, the game is much better than COD4 on my system, runs better and looks really good, textures are crisp! always over 60 FPS

 

Well I just registered. Going go download it on the 1520.

Too bad I have classes :/

 

i had to study a bio test last night, to hell with it!

 

Still trying to get my key! ****! I need to use this beta time to build up my cod5 skills! I should be pretty good, considering im prett-ay good at cod4 (1150 points Hardcore Search & Destroy on Backlot !!!!).

Is there still an Ak-47? There better be, i didnt get to the gold one just for the gun to be removed..... And hows the flamethrower?

Ok, this time I used my other email address, I used Internet Explorer instead of Firefox and I said I was living in USA. It Works.. I got my key after like 20 sec.

 

Flamethrower is unlocked at level 65, yes 65.. so no one has it yet!

there are molotove ****tails at level 10, but I haven't played it enough (was waaay too tired last night) I'll play some more in an hour or so once I wake up and post some of the new weapons in use.

Btw, it says on thier site that this beta will be available to everyone, there are no limited amount of keys.

 

Question. I signed up for the beta on the wrong laptop and clicked on the activation link.

Is the download an executable file that I can transfer to the other laptop so I can play it?

 

Any idea till when is the beta?

 

miller magic, yes, just download the installer on any pc and use the key they gave you.

Anyone else having connectivity problems when trying to join a game? It worked earlier this morning for me, but now it finds the servers, locks up loading the game, then can't find anymore servers until I restart the game.

 

omg badASS!!! I haven't played any new PC games since Crysis, GRID, and COD4 last summer because I have no money to buy games... this is perfect!

 

Help! it's crashing on startup, no error message.

is there a command in the console you can type to see how many fps you are getting?

 

I got this error and gave up, but today i gave it a shot again, (got another key as i gave my other one away). This error is being caused by either direct x, or your sound card.

1. Directx issue, go here: http://majorgeeks.com/DirectX_End-User_Runtime_Web_Installer_d2924.html and install. If this doesn't work go try next fix.

2. In your sound manager (this one worked for be) change your default format to 24 bits, 44100hz If this fails try reducing the default format by more. If this fails, disable or install your sound card.

Loads of people are running into this issue, there is a thread at the COD website. The options above are fixes listed in this thread.

i just played the beta and i like the gameplay but it doesnt run as well as cod 4 does.

 

thats funny, other people are saying the exact opposite. Maybe it depends on hardware?

on my desktop the game runs alot better than cod4

 

when i play cod 4 my frames rarely go under 60 but in cod 5 i average around 40. both at 1400x900 with 2x AA.

 

Yeah! thats what i meant! some cards had some bad time with the game (bad time is FPS being 60-70FPS) now its just awesome

 

For those looking for their keys, they put them in a very strange place. To get to it (if they've given you one) go to My Account > Account / Profile tab > if you have a key it should be right above the words 'Required Informantion.'

All of the cod series engines cap the fps at 91, so you're not getting as many fps as you could be (esp. with CF 4850s). To unlock type /com_maxfps (what you want the new cap to be) into console. IE: /com_maxfps 200

 

well remember nvidia will release another driver soon for this game/fallout 3, so it should get better, also, its beta. Try the 180.43 drivers

 

Since it's using the same engine as CoD 4, I would assume it's /cg_drawfps 1

I've fixed issues with the above and i think a couple of others on this thread have aswell.

I downloaded DirectX Installer from the Microsoft website and it worked !!

 

it looks more like a COD4 mod than a brand new game.. I don't think I'm gonne spend 60$ in this..

 

That IS exactly what I thought when I started playing. Then I unlocked the mosin nagant and the Type 100. Now I think I may actually buy it. Just keep playing.

Same here, but then I remember that this game is alot more than just the standard multiplayer. The fact that the entire single player is COOP has already sold me. I'm all for great coop games with a STORYLINE!

And then there's CoOp Zombie invasion mode!!

 

i think it would have been better if they stuck with a more modern story/gameplay.

 

Then we would have CoD4 engine, with CoD4 story, and CoD4 gameplay. Sounds like CoD4 .

 

it doesn't have to be the same. new story, maps, some new weapons perks, features. the whole WWII thing is done way too much.

Maybe you went on one of the hardcore servers that remove most of the UI.

 

i cant even play the beta cause punkbuster wont let me update cod5 it says I have the wrong gamepath and I can figure out the right game path >:O

I still don't really understand all these problems people are getting.. I've installed this beta on 4 computers already, went to go get about 6 CD keys, and never had a single issue.. Then again, all of the comps are running XP..

 

Oh lord, I am so excited for this game. Can't wait to load it up on my laptop and start gaming!

Who else is excited they switched the theme back to WW 1?

 

You have to update the punkbuster manually. If you go to punkbuster website and download three files that you need (I can't remember exactly which ones) and then paste them in the pb folder of the COD WAW, you won't have any problems. At least that's what I did.

Weapons are Super cool.. Dogs instead of chopper, Molotov ****tails, Tanks in some maps, this is plain awesome
